2 Summary The following document contains basic instructions on how to set up a new project. Parameters have been grouped as per their necessity in the scripts allowing the user to define only those settings required by a particular task. 2

3 General Project Organisation Although Bloy uses a server based centralised database, there are still many Datamine files used by the system which are both permanent and temporary. These are stored by Bloy in two locations and the following distinction is made: MASTER FILES Permanent Datamine files used throughout the system and shared by multiple users. These files include the Production Block Models, the Exploration Drillhole data, Geological strings and wireframes, etc. For multi-user sites this must be a server location. TEMPORARY FILES All the temporary and semi-permanent Datamine files created during processing. These are not shared and are stored on local drives. Datamine Studio 2 generates errors if this location is on the server. A typical multi-user setup would be as follows: \\Srv01\Mining\BMRE_Master Block Models Wireframes Borehole Data String Files C:\BMRE_Projects\Grade Control D:\Grade_Control E:\BMRE_GC Temporary File Storage located anywhere on local drives. 3

4 Step 1 Setting up a Project in Parameter Manager To add a project, navigate to Project Details under the System Management section. You will see that this menu gives you the option to Add a new project or Edit, Delete and Copy an existing project. Click Add, to add a project to the list. Click Add, to add a project The following popup will appear. Click Save to save your new project You will need to enter the project code, as well as the project description. Once you have entered these into the required fields, click Save. 4

5 Step 2 Closing Project Locations Before proceeding it is best to set up two project locations using Windows Explorer. The following example shows a recommended setup for multiple projects: On Server Different projects (pits) on your site. On Local Drive It is possible to dump all Datamine files in a single folder, but it is strongly recommended different folders are created for each project or pit. 5

The Mining Perimeters are now stored in the BMRE Database so this file is obsolete. 6

7 Step 4 Linking Datamine to a Bloy Project Start a new Datamine Project in the local project folder. Select a Project Script File from the file menu and navigate to : C:\Program Files\BMRE\Scripts\BMRE_MAIN_V.htm Immediately on running the main menu this window will open: Select a project and click Accept. 8 Step 5 Critical Settings The following settings are critical. Navigate to the Block Models tab, under General Parameters in Parameter Manager. Block model prototype must be set. Setting up the model prototype is key to many processes throughout our scripts. The Master Block Model as well as the Geological Block Model must be set. Enter the desired values and click Save in the bottom right hand corner, to save your parameters. 8

9 Step 6 Setting the Default Settings To set the default settings, navigate to the Mining tab under General Parameters in Parameter Manager. By clicking on the fields, you will be able to edit the values in them. The necessary fields are: Bench Height, No. of Sub-benches and Z Reference. Remember to save your settings, by clicking Save in the bottom right hand corner. Step 7 Setting up Naming and Numbering This menu will allow you to customise the naming and numbering conventions for your drilling campaigns and borehole data. The user must also define the required elevations under Level Naming. Borehole numbering controls Level Naming: Many sites use codes for mining benches eg. Level A = 1055, etc. These can be entered here (actual elevation, then Name or code.) If a level naming scheme is not used, please enter the elevation in both fields. 9

10 Step 8 Setting up Data Fields Navigate to the Data Fields section. This menu will enable you to add new data fields, such as Rock Types, Qualitative fields and Quantitative fields.
