To function (invoked by pressing F1 function key in a message field), Microsoft Internet Explorer must be installed. For Paging Space, use Microsoft guidelines (1.5 times the RAM of your system). System RAM for SWIFTAlliance Workstation Operating System Minimum Memory Size (MB) Advised Memory Size (MB) Windows XP Professional Minimum Disk Space for SWIFTAlliance Workstation Minimum Software Disk Space (MB) Minimum Database Disk Space (MB) Advised Database Disk Space (MB) 250 not applicable not applicable Testing TCP/IP Connectivity With the Server Host Introduction Ensure that you have TCP/IP connectivity between the workstation and the computer where the SWIFTAlliance servers are installed. 2 January

SWIFTAlliance Workstation 6.0 Note If DNS is enabled on your network, TCP/IP connectivity is automatically checked. To test the connection: 1. Start a Command Prompt window. (To start a Command Prompt window, click Start and then select Run. In the Run dialog box, type cmd and click OK ). 2. Type ping <hostname> where <hostname> is the name of the server component. 3. If the TCP/IP connection is working correctly, a response like the following is shown: Pinging <hostname> [IP Address] with 32 bytes of data Reply from [hostname IP Address] If the response fails, contact your Windows system administrator Checking Hardware Requirements Introduction The Setup program checks for the minimum requirements (see "System Requirements for SWIFTAlliance Workstation" on page 7). Before you start installing SWIFTAlliance Workstation, you can also run a program to check that the machine you are installing on meets the minimum requirements. If any problems are detected, you must resolve them before you can install Workstation software. Note SWIFTAlliance Workstation has been qualified on Windows XP Professional in "single user mode". To configure this mode: 1. Log on as Administrator 2. Select Start/Control Panel/User Accounts and Change the way users log on or off 3. Clear Use the Welcome screen 4. Click Apply Options. To check requirements: 1. Log on to Windows as Administrator or as another Windows user that is a member of the local administrator group. 2. Insert the SWIFTAlliance Access/Entry/RMA/Workstation release CD into the CD drive. If the computer you are installing SWIFTAlliance Workstation on does not have a CD drive, you can connect to one over the network. To do this, select Map Network Drive from the Tools directory of Windows Explorer. Confirm beforehand that the target drive on the host machine is set up for sharing. 3. Click Start and Run. 8 Installation and Administration Guide

Introduction 4. Type the following command: <drive>:\win32\checkhw WORKSTATION where <drive> is the appropriate drive name, either locally or on the network. An example is shown here: Note Please note that WORKSTATION must be typed in capital letters. 5. After a few moments, a window appears with the results: If the message Not OK to install appears, take the corrective action indicated. A red check mark appears to indicate what failed. For example, if there is a red check mark beside Running as Administrator, it means that you are not signed on with rights as an Administrator. You must sign off and then sign on as a different Windows user with the appropriate rights. If there is a red check mark beside TCP/IP Software Installed, ensure that there is a TCP/ IP connection between the computer where you want to install SWIFTAlliance Workstation and the SWIFTAlliance server. Close the window to terminate the program. 2 January

SWIFTAlliance Workstation 6.0 Note Unless stated otherwise, you cannot install SWIFTAlliance Workstation until all the checks are passed. 1.2 Windows Group and User Accounts Description The SWIFTAlliance Workstation software provides the option during installation to allow the configuration of group and user accounts for the Windows operating system. If this option is chosen, two groups are created, and each group has one user. The groups are Alliance Administrators and Alliance Users. The users are AllAdm and AllUsr. Both users get the Windows right to log on locally to the PC where SWIFTAlliance is installed. Furthermore, AllAdm is a member of the Windows administrators group. Note If group or user accounts already exist with these names, they are not updated during installation. When someone logs on to SWIFTAlliance Workstation using AllAdm as the user name, the SWIFTAlliance control window appears. When logging on with AllUsr, the Access Control application starts automatically after successful entry of operator name and password. Further maintenance of these accounts is the responsibility of the Windows administrator. For example, you can configure a screen saver to automatically lock a workstation, restrict logon hours, keep track of recently used passwords, and so on. 1.3 Windows Security Enhancement for SWIFTAlliance Workstation Introduction The overall system security is the responsibility of the system owner. The actual installation of the SWIFTAlliance software does not modify the security settings of the Windows system. The SWIFTAlliance software provides its own internal protection mechanisms. This is in the form of detection and reporting of any system changes or tampering that can result in an unusable system. To enhance security further, the users and user groups created by the SWIFTAlliance software during installation can be set up for exclusive use of the SWIFTAlliance software. This prevents use by users that are not part of the Alliance user groups. This can be achieved by modifying the file and registry permission as described in the following procedures. The SWIFTAlliance installation procedure creates two users and two groups on the local machine: Users: AllAdm and AllUsr. AllAdm belongs to the Alliance Administrators and the Local Administrators groups and AllUsr belongs to the Alliance Users group. Groups: Alliance Administrators and Alliance Users. When AllAdm is used to log on to Windows, the SWIFTAlliance Control application is automatically started. When AllUsr is used to log on to Windows, the access control application is automatically started. The local administrator can add more users to the Alliance Users group, thus allowing multiple users to access and run the SWIFTAlliance Workstation. Note that in this section, AllUsr can represent any user that is a member of the Alliance Users group. 10 Installation and Administration Guide

Introduction The following procedure disallows the use of the SWIFTAlliance software by any other user than AllAdm or AllUsr. Also, AllAdm is the only Windows user that is able to install/deinstall patches or deinstall the SWIFTAlliance software. Modification or deletion of elements in the SWIFTAlliance release-tree or registry by another user is prevented File Permissions To change the file permissions: 1. Log on as Alliance Administrator AllAdm, on your machine. This must be the Alliance Administrator created during installation of the SWIFTAlliance software (the default is AllAdm). 2. This port is held in the registry per SWIFTAlliance Workstation instance. The Control application makes an RPC call to the swa_boot daemon process on the machine where the SWIFTAlliance Workstation servers are running, and on the default port of swa_boot (currently 48009). If the system administrator of the SWIFTAlliance Workstation servers has 34 Installation and Administration Guide

Administration Tasks configured swa_boot to run on a non-default port, then you are requested to supply another Port Number. This is required when the instance is configured (see the following section). SSL authentication If Server Authentication is being used, then the SWIFTAlliance Workstation must know the DN of the SWIFTAlliance Workstation servers and must have a corresponding CA certificate. Before the setup of the Server Authentication, the CA certificate file must be distributed to the SWIFTAlliance Workstations. The Instance Configuration application retrieves the DN for the SWIFTAlliance Workstation machine (from the.cert_dn file) and propose this as the DN. Check that the proposed DN is the correct one for the selected SWIFTAlliance Workstation instance. The DN name and certificate location are stored in the registry for each instance (primary, fallback and so on.). The Server Authentication check box is unset by default. If the Server Authentication check box is set, then communication with the SWIFTAlliance servers uses SSL and Server Authentication. In this case, if the SWIFTAlliance servers are running without SSL, an error is reported. If the authentication fails (for example, due to an expired certificate), an authentication error message appears. Certificate expiry In case of certificate renewal, the new certificate must be distributed on the SWIFTAlliance Workstation as described in the previous section Adding or Modifying an Instance Introduction SWIFTAlliance Workstation can be configured to connect to multiple instances of the SWIFTAlliance Server. This is achieved by setting up an "instance configuration" on SWIFTAlliance Workstation which can be selected to connect to the required server instance. Note Only one instance configuration can be selected at any one time. Therefore, only one server instance can be "active" for this SWIFTAlliance Workstation. To add an instance configuration: 1. Start the SWIFTAlliance Control application. 2. From the Instance Configuration menu, select New. 3. The Instance Configuration Details window is displayed. 2 January

SWIFTAlliance Workstation 6.0 For a description of the fields in this window, see page 21. Note The Boot port must contain the port number for the swa_boot of the SWIFTAlliance Access server to which this instance is to connect. By default this is 48009, however, if the port used by the SWIFTAlliance Access server is different you must enter the actual value in this field. This field is editable on SWIFTAlliance Workstation only when swa_boot is not running on the specified port on the server. For example, when swa_boot is running on another port on the server, or the server is stopped. If the field is greyed out, it means that the correct port is configured and that swa_boot is running on the server. 4. If Secure Communication with Server is required, enable the check box provided. The SSL Certificate DN and CA Certificate Location fields become available. Enter the required SSL Certificate DN and the location of the CA Certificate. 5. Once you have entered all the required details, select Add from the Instance Configuration menu to create and save the Instance Configuration. 36 Installation and Administration Guide

Administration Tasks Note Not all the fields allow the configuration data to be entered directly. If DNS or DHCP is activated on your system, or the server information is already present in your "Hosts" file, the IP Address is entered automatically after you have entered the "Server" name. If this does not occur you need to add the Server name and IP Address to your "Hosts" file (see "Adding a Server to the "Hosts" File" on page 38). Also, once the Server and IP Address have been entered normally the Server OS field will be filled out automatically. To modify an instance configuration: 1. Start the SWIFTAlliance Control application. 2. From the Instance Configuration main window, select the Instance Configuration you want to modify. 3. From the Instance Configuration menu, select Open. 4. In the Instance Configuration Details window, change the configuration data for the instance as required. 5. Select Modify from the Instance Configuration menu to save the updated Instance Configuration Activating an Instance Prerequisite Before you can connect to a SWIFTAlliance server instance, you must make its "instance configuration" the "active" instance configuration on SWIFTAlliance Workstation. How to do this is explained in the following procedure. To activate an instance configuration 1. Start the SWIFTAlliance Control application. 2. From the Instance Configuration main window, select the Instance Configuration of the SWIFTAlliance server instance you want to activate. 3. From the Instance Configuration menu, select Activate. The status of the instance changes to "Active" Removing an Instance To remove an instance configuration 1. Start the SWIFTAlliance Control Application. 2. From the Instance Configuration main window, select the instance configuration to be removed. 3. From the Instance Configuration menu, select Remove. You are prompted to confirm the removal. Click Yes to complete the removal of the Instance Configuration from your system. 2 January

SWIFTAlliance Workstation 6.0 Note It is not possible to remove an "active" instance configuration. You must first "activate" another instance configuration, to "de-activate" the instance configuration you want to remove Displaying the Active Instance on the Sign-on Window Introduction To identify which SWIFTAlliance server instance you are connecting to, you can select to display its instance configuration identifier on the Sign-on window. It is also possible to select another instance from the Sign-on window if this option is selected. Sign-on window if this option is selected. 1. Start the SWIFTAlliance Control application. 2. From the File menu, select Active Instance visible in Sign-On Dialog. The next time you start SWIFTAlliance Workstation, the Sign-on window will contain the name of the instance configuration of the SWIFTAlliance server instance which is currently active. A drop-down menu lists any other instance configurations setup on your system. 3. The default Active Instance must be at the same release level as the Workstation. If not, an error message like the following is shown: If you want to continue, click Yes and a list of available instances is displayed. Otherwise, click No to cancel the sign-on Adding a Server to the "Hosts" File Overview First determine the Host name and IP Address of the SWIFTAlliance server computer you want to connect to, and then add it to the Hosts file of the computer where you are running SWIFTAlliance Workstation. To determine the Host (Full Computer) name and IP Address of a SWIFTAlliance Windows server 1. Go to the server machine. 2. Click Start and select Settings and then Control Panel. 3. From the Control Panel click System and then the Computer Name tab. Copy the Full Computer Name. This is the computer's "Hostname". 4. Click Start and select Programs, Accessories and then Command Prompt. 38 Installation and Administration Guide

Administration Tasks 5. In the Command Prompt window, type ping <host name> (the command syntax may vary depending on your platform). 6. Copy the TCP/IP address that appears. The IP address is the first line that appears. Press Ctrl + C to stop the ping process. To determine the Host name and IP Address of a SWIFTAlliance UNIX server 1. Go to the server machine. 2. Open an Xterm. 3. Type hostname and then copy the name that is displayed. 4. For AIX, type ping <host name> For Solaris, type ping -s <host name> 5. Copy the TCP/IP address that appears. The IP address is the first line that appears. Press Ctrl+C to stop the ping process. To add a server (Host name and IP Address) manually 1. Display the Instance Configuration Details window by selecting New from the Instance Configuration menu. 2. Enter a name for the instance configuration. 3. From the Instance Configuration menu, select Add Server to Hosts file. The Add Hosts window now appears. In the Server field, enter the "Hostname" of the SWIFTAlliance server machine. In the IP Address field, enter the IP address of the SWIFTAlliance server machine. Click OK 4. The system makes a backup of the "Hosts" file. Click OK to confirm the creation of the backup. The server information is added to the "Hosts" file. 3.3 Patches Patch/Upgrade Program Description The Patch/Upgrade program enables you to install and remove any software patches that are distributed to you. There are two types of patch: "Mandatory cumulative patches", which are sent to all SWIFTAlliance Workstation users. Each cumulative patch includes the previous cumulative patch. As a consequence only one mandatory patch can be installed at a time. "Optional patches", which are sent to selected SWIFTAlliance Workstation users and which affect specific deliverables, such as.exe and.dll files. Optional patches do not include any previous patches. 2 January

SWIFTAlliance Workstation 6.0 Example When you double-click the Patch/Upgrade icon the following dialog box appears: Field descriptions Current Patch Level The level of the cumulative patch (if there is one installed). List of Installed Patches The release level and a short description of all the patches that are currently installed, including the latest cumulative patch.
