(2) Select how to print black text (100% K). Normally select [Mixture Color]. Selecting [Mixture Color] performs printing with the readability of black text (100% K). Selecting [Plain Black] performs printing to match the density of the actual file to be printed. Selecting [Off] performs light printing by matching the 100% K to the actual K density. (3) Enter the name of profile to be created If you create an RGB color profile as well as a CMYK color profile, proceed to specify an RGB color profile. 23
24 Operating ColorProfileTuner When [RGB Color Profile] is selected in [Type of Profile to be Created] (1) Specify the precision of profile to be created. Select [High Speed Mode 21x21x21] to give priority to the speed of creating a profile, or [Standard Mode 33x33x33] to give priority to the precision of color reproduction. (2) Select how to make color correction of profile to be created. Selecting [Perceptual] corrects colors while maintaining a balance between photographs and graphic images. Selecting [Saturation] makes colors vivid, suitable for graphic images. Selecting [Relative Colormetric] reconciles colors in color space that can be reproduced by devices, and replaces colors that cannot be reproduced with the nearest matching color. (3) Select the color area to be adjusted. Selecting [All] adjusts all color areas. Selecting [Gray] adjusts the gray area in a color space. Selecting [Skin Tone] adjusts the skin tone area. Important Selecting [Gray] may apply a color correction to an image with low saturation or highlight, even if the image is not recognized as gray. Depending on the shooting conditions, a color correction may not be applied to a skin tone, even if it is recognized. A color correction may also be applied to an image with a color near to a skin tone. (4) Select the item to be adjusted. Select either [Bright/Saturation] or [Hue], or both the items. (5) Select the profile to be adjusted. When [RGB/CMYK] is selected in [Color Space], specify both an RGB color profile and a CMYK color profile. (6) Click [Next]

(2) If you want to confirm the adjustment result on printed paper from the device, click [Print Test Chart]. (*7) The test chart is printed from the device specified in [Select Printer], showing one image and the other multiple images that reflect your specified values and the values other than the specified ones, respectively. Use the test chart for a reference to specify the values for brightness and saturation. (3) When the settings are finished, click [Next] (*6) The sample images on the screen may vary depending on the item selected in [Adjustment Target]. (*7) The images on the PC screen and the ones on the sample printed from output device differ in color reproduction. As the screen is affected by the monitor, the colors of the images are reproduced differently, even the same saturated red. For the printed sample, on the other hand, saturated red may not be reproduced, as the color reproduction method differs from each output device. When you print the test chart from the output device, you can adjust colors while viewing the color reproduction in the device. 27
28 Operating ColorProfileTuner When [Hue] is selected in [Adjustment Type] (1) Select the hue you want from among the eight adjusted images. (*8) (2) If you want to confirm the adjustment result on printed paper from the device, click [Print Test Chart]. (*9) The test chart showing a change of hue direction is printed from the device specified in [Select Printer]. Use the test chart for a reference to select the hue direction you want to adjust. The following shows a sample image on the test chart. Important If both [Bright/Saturation] and [Hue] are in adjustment, the settings you adjusted for [Bright/Saturation] will not be reflected on the test chart which is printed at the stage when hue is being adjusted. The adjustment result reflecting both [Bright/ Saturation] and [Hue] can be confirmed by following step (*8) The sample images on the screen may vary depending on the item selected in [Adjustment Target]. (*9) The images on the PC screen and the ones on the sample printed from output device differ in color reproduction.
29 Operating ColorProfileTuner (3) Click [Next] (4) While confirming the screen, specify the hue levels within the values between 0 to +5. Important Specifying large levels such as +5 may remove the gradation of color from images. Specifying large levels such as +5 and printing images with high saturation may not change colors on the images. (5) If you want to confirm the adjustment result on printed paper from the device, click [Print Test Chart]. The test chart reflecting the specified hue levels is printed from the device specified in [Select Printer]. Use the test chart for a reference to specify the hue levels. 29
30 Operating ColorProfileTuner (6) Click [Next] Perform the following operations. (1) Specify the name of profile to be created. (2) If you want to confirm the adjustment result on printed paper from the device, click [Print Test Chart]. 31 Operating ColorProfileTuner (3) Click [Start] (4) The profile name you specify for [Profile Name] already exists, a message whether to overwrite the existing profile appears. Click [Yes] if you want to overwrite the existing profile. The profile is overwritten or created. 5 When the profile adjustments are complete, click [OK]. 6 To download the adjusted profile to the device now, click [Yes]. (*10) Clicking [No] cancels this operation. See For details on downloading, see "Downloading a Profile to a Device" (P.32). (*10) You can also download the adjusted profile form [Manage Profile] later. 31
32 Operating ColorProfileTuner Downloading a Profile to a Device Download created/adjusted CMYK color profiles, RGB color profiles, or RGB source profiles such as monitors to a device. You can select from [User1] to [User5] as the location to save downloaded profiles in. Downloaded profiles can be applied by specifying the [User1] to [User5] saving them from the printer driver when printing. Important For Mac OS X, downloaded profiles may not be applied depending on the applications and the settings of applications you are using. If you download a new profile to the device that has an existing downloaded profile, the new profile overwrites the existing one. Use CentreWare Internet Services to confirm the profile saved in the device before downloading a new profile. If the device profile used for creating and adjusting a profile differs from the model to which a profile is downloaded, the message [Profile Mismatch] appears on CentreWare Internet Services, preventing you from using the downloaded profile. You can save only one profile in each of [User1] to [User5]. If you specify the same user to download more than two profiles, the new profile overwrites the old one. Steps 0 1 From the ColorProfileTuner operation screen, select [Manage Profile]. See "Launching ColorProfileTuner" (P.21) 2 Perform the following operations. (1) Select a device to use.
