3 1.INTRODUCTION 1. INTRODUCTION In this chapter are described the elements needed for the properly installation of the EDITRAN pack. EDITRAN pack includes: Distribution of the product. Installation manual for all EDITRAN and chryptography modules. INDRA. All rights reserved. EDITRAN Page 1-1

4 2.UNIX 2. UNIX 2.1. USER CREATION This operation must be performed by user root. Creating (or assignating) editran users group. Creating editran user. Setting a password for editran user EDITRAN INSTALLATION To download UNIX Editran software, we must request the EDITRAN support group the URL, user and password. Support phone editran@indra.es To perform the installation, we must follow these steps: Create a user named editran, having permissions on the folder where EDITRAN is going to be installed. Create an installation folder with the preferred name (we recommend the folder /opt/) and copy there the downloaded installation file whose extension is.tar.gz. Execute the following commands to unzip it: gunzip [name of the file.tar.gz] tar xvf [name of the file.tar] In SO Solaris, in this EDITRAN version we use the library NCurses by GNU to implement graphic interfaces. By default, this distribution searches for information about terminals in /usr/local/share/terminfo. If we wish to modify the path in which we want to search, we must establish the environment variable TERMINFO_DIRS in the user managing EDITRAN. After performing all these actions, we must dimensión the logs for the new version: makelog n For operating, EDITRAN requires a license for each computer depending on its Hostid. To obtain this Hostid we must execute the following command from the EDITRAN folder:./hostid >hostid.txt This command will execute a file named hostid.txt in the EDITRAN installation folder. This file must be sent to the address editran@indra.es in order to get the corresponding license. The file licencia.dat from the previous EDITRAN version must be sent as well, if we have it. We will send you a license file, which you will have to rename as licencia.dat, and also a file named licencia.publick. You have to copy both to the EDITRAN root folder. EDITRAN depends on OpenSSL so it will be necessary that an equal or higher version of the one specified for each OS is installed. 9 2.UNIX BOOTING AND STOPPING X25 It starts automatically when we boot the machine. EDITRAN system uses, by default, the first network adaptor X.25 installed in the machine. If you want to use a different one, the Programatic Access Name of the desired adaptor must be assigned to the X25_IFNAME_A environment variable for the first adaptor, X25_IFNAME_B for the second adaptor, X25_IFNAME_C for the third adaptor, and X25_IFNAME_D for the forth one. For example: If the Shell used is ksh: export X25_IFNAME_A= pgm1 export X25_IFNAME_B= pgm2 If the Shell used is csh: setenv X25_IFNAME_A pgm1 setenv X25_IFNAME_B pgm2 Where pgm1 is the programatic access name of the first adaptor Where pgm2 is the programatic access name of the second adaptor 2.6. LINUX REQUIREMENTS 64 bits operating systems supported: SUSE 11.0 Red Hat 5.5 Debian 6.0 Ubuntu CentOS 6.2 EDITRAN is homologated for these distributions and mentioned versions. 1 Gb of free space in disk, and also the space needed for the files to be transmitted and received. 1 Gb of RAM memory. OpenSSL 0.9.8e must be installed. In Linux systems, different than Red Hat, even if this version is installed, we must create the link for the library libcrypto.so.6. For this, we must place in the folder lib in EDITRAN and then execute: ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so libcrypto.so.6 EDITRAN does not support X25 in these operating systems. INDRA. All rights reserved. 12 3.WINDOWS 3. WINDOWS 3.1. MACHINE AND OPERATING SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Minimum requirements: Minimum hardware required by the operating system. Required space in disk for the installation: at least 1GB. Operating systems supported. Windows XP (32/64bits) Windows Vista (32/64bits) Windows 7 (32/64bits) Windows 8 (32/64bits) Windows Server 2003 Windows Server 2008 (32/64bits) Windows Server 2012 (32/64bits) 3.2. EDITRAN INSTALLATION To perform the installation, you must follow these steps. Execute the installation pack of EDITRAN/Windows and, when the main EDITRAN screen is loaded, click on Next (Siguiente). Choose option A Default installation (Instalación Típica) and click on Next (Siguiente) If you are going to install the distributed EDITRAN client, you must choose the option B Distributed EDITRAN clilent (Cliente de EDITRAN Distribuido). Choose the folder where EDITRAN is going to be installed (by default, it is installed in c:\editran.[editran version number] (for example, c:\editran.510)) The next screen allows to choose the folder that will be installed in Windowns Programmes Folder (Carpeta de Programas de Windows). In the following windows you will be allowed to choose whether to install the next connection modules: X28 X25 Eicon Swift (as Local or as Gateway) The TCP/IP module is installed automatically. The next screen will show a summary of the installation; then click on Next (Siguiente). To finish the installation, click on End (Finalizar). In order to work properly, EDITRAN requires a specific license for each machine depending on a Hostid (unique code for each machine where EDITRAN is installed). To generate that Hostid you must open the menu EDITRAN/P, then the tab File (Archivo) and then click on Generate HostID (Generar HostID. You must answer yes ( si) to the question and then decide the folder to which you will copy the resulting hostid.txt file. INDRA. All rights reserved. EDITRAN Page 3-1

13 3.WINDOWS If you cannot open the menu EDITRAN/P because you access from a remote machine or from a virtual machine, you must use the Windows system symbol (cmd) or MS/DOS to go to the EDITRAN.### folder, and then execute the following command: hostid >hostid.txt The file hostid.txt must be sent to the address editran@indra.es, so the corresponding license will be generated. You also have to send the file licencia.dat from the previous EDITRAN version, if you have it. From the EDITRAN address, you will be sent a license file, that you will have to rename as licencia.dat, and also a file named licencia.publick. You will have to copy them to the EDITRAN root folder. Important: If you have Windows Vista, 7, 8 or 2008, after installing the product you will need to add to the section Security of EDITRAN.5.10 folder options (Seguridad de las opciones del directorio de EDITRAN.5.10) the user who is going to use EDITRAN. For this, with a machine administrator user, you will have to click the right button in the folder EDITRAN.510, then click Properties (Propiedades), go to Security (Seguridad), click Edit (Editar) and then add the user or users which will operate EDITRAN, giving them permission Total control (Control total) TCP-IP NETWORK INTERFACE REQUIREMENTS Protocol EDITRAN TCP/IP must be installed. Network card must be properly installed. Internet connection, with a fixed public IP assigned, and a TCP port open for input and/or output (by default, EDITRAN uses 7777 port) PUBLIC IP AND TCP/IP TESTS To connect with remote nodes, we must inform them our FIXED PUBLIC IP address (dirección IP PÚBLICA FIJA); to find it out, we can do it through the service provider accessing the router, or using web pages such as Which is my IP (Cual es mi IP). There is a program called echotool to test, before the installation, the proper connection to the TCP ports that will be used by EDITRAN. It can be downloaded from the following webpage: echotool To download it, you must click the link below: Download stand alone executable echotool.exe [30 Kb] To execute it, you must have installed, at least, Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0. You must download it in any Windows folder, then open a screen with the system symbol (cmd) and then go where the executable file is, and write the following command: INDRA. All rights reserved. If you don t want to use it anymore, you must close the window of the system symbol (it doesn t have an exit command or the like) To perform a connection test, we can use the program Telnet in the

14 3.WINDOWS echotool /p tcp /s 7777 The command will boot the executable file in the TCP port Once it is booted, from the remote machine you can test the connections (for example with the program Telnet) to the port 7777, to check they connect properly. If you don t want to use it anymore, you must close the window of the system symbol (it doesn t have an exit command or the like) To perform a connection test, we can use the program Telnet in the following way: telnet [remote node public IP] [port] For example: telnet X.28 NETWORK INTERFACE REQUIREMENTS Modem properly installed. We recommend to buy the modem tested and homologated by Indra US Robotics 5637 USB or, older, the model US Robotics 56K V.92 Faxmodem USB Analogic phone line with connection to the public PAD Público (1247) or to the private PAD (1248) X25 NETWORK INTERFACE WITH EICON-CARD REQUIREMENTS Communications card EiconCard. These are the supported ones: Eiconcard S91 V2 Slot PCI Eiconcard S94 V2 Slot PCI Eiconcard S94 Slot PCI Express (for servers with only small PCI slot): Drivers Eiconcard X.25 V6R10 (Build 395) or later, properly installed BOOTING AND STOPPING The installation of the card drivers creates a Windows service called EiconCards, to start and stop the card. 15 3.WINDOWS SETTING X.25 EICON CARD The settings of the card parameters depend on the subscription (or configuration) features of the line for each installation. It is essential to know the operating mode (DTE or DCE) of the card, the NRI number, the number of virtual circuits subscribed and their range, and the size of the window and pack. The parameters mentioned above will have to be provided by the phone operator. Check your subscription contract (Iberpac-Telefónica) or you Communications Administrator. These are the 2 basic templates to set in the software Dialogic Eiconcard Configuration: CONSIDERATIONS Dialogic has 3 families of adaptors to establish communications through the network X.25. 16 3.WINDOWS 3.6. RDSI-X25 CONNECTIONS WITH VANGUARD COMMUTATORS REQUIREMENTS Eicon X.25 card. Vanguard 100 RDSI-X25 commutator CONSIDERATIONS Commutators Vanguard 100 are communication devices responsible for commutation and routing tasks. In some EDITRAN installations, they have been used to provide concurrent connections from both X25 and RDSI. Physically, they consist of a connector RS-232 V.24 hooked through a cable to the communications card X.25, which is installed in the computer. There are also two connectors, RJ45 to use the RDSI, and RS-232 connected to the modem X.25 by Telefónica. The protocol used in both networks must be set to redirect incoming and outcoming calls to a network or to another, depending on the calling NRI. In EDITRAN, all sessions must be set as if they were X.25. Only the ones routed by RDSI will need to have their fields filled with the proper values for the NRIs. As we mentioned above, the RDSI connection also uses X.25 protocol. But it is a point to point connection, so efficiency improves using window and pack big sizes. For example, level 3 window with size 7, and pack size This form of connection is external to EDITRAN, and also independent of the operating system used. So it can be used in any machine with a RS-232 (V.24) output and a X.25 EDITRAN version. INDRA. All rights reserved. EDITRAN Page 3-5

17 4.EDITRAN SYSTEM 4. EDITRAN SYSTEM 4.1. BOOTING AND STOPPING Unix In Unix, environments, EDITRAN executes the start up and the shut down with the script EDITRAN, whose syntax is: Usage: EDItran [-t] [-f] start stop status -t Trace (Traza) -f Ignores another EDITRAN already running (Ignora otro EDItran arrancado) start Boots EDItran system (Arranca el sistema EDItran) stop Stops EDItran system (Detiene el sistema EDItran status Obtains EDItran system status (Obtiene el estado del sistema EDItran) The script options have the following meaning: -t EDITRAN processes leave additional information that allows debugging error situations. The trace is stored in files whose name is the same as the process that generates it, and its extensión is.traza. This information will be normally requested by the EDITRAN Support group to analize incidences. In version and higher, there is the possibility of activating the trace temporary, without having to stop and boot the system. The mechanism to do this is by sending the signal SIGUSR2 to activate/deactivate the trace of the desired process. For example, if we need the trace of the process editranp, the user that started up the system will have to execute the following commands: 1. Obtain the process pid. ps ef grep editranp usredi Sep 29? 72:40 editranp 2. Activate the trace sending, through kill, the signal to the process. At this time, the file editranp.traza will be created with the protocol trail. /usr/bin/kill USR Once it is performed the test we want to analyze, deactivate the trace executing again: /usr/bin/kill USR f If we specify this option, when we start it is possible to boot EDITRAN even if there is another one already running. To allow several systems to work properly simultaneously, is necessary to have completed the installation following the requirements detailed in the following section. INDRA. All rights reserved. 18 4.EDITRAN SYSTEM Settings for concurrent systems When we want to have several systems running simultaneously in the same machine, we need to set the installations in the following way: Create different users and different folders for each installation. In the script EDItran, modify the value of the variable EDI_IPC_KEY_BASE, so that each system runs with different values. By default, this variable is commented and its value is The local network resources assigned to each installation must be differentiated. In case we work with X25, you can assign each installation a different NRI, or different logical addresses. In Tcp you can make distinctions by IPs or by ports Windows In Windows environments, EDITRAN can be started up or shut down in 3 different ways: Using the semaphore from the menus P and G, or using the options Boot (Arrancar) and Stop (Parar) EDItran from the tab File (Archivo). In this way, EDITRAN runs the processes needed to make EDITRAN work with the user who is logged. So, EDITRAN will use the permissions for that user, and if the session is closed, EDITRAN will stop. If the semaphore is red, that will mean EDITRAN is stopped; if we click on the button, EDITRAN will try to boot. If the semaphore is green, it means EDITRAN is running; if we click on the button, EDITRAN will stop. If EDITRAN is running as a Service we cannot use the semaphore and the following message will appear: From the EDItran command: In this way, EDITRAN runs from command the processes needed for EDITRAN to work. The syntax of this command is: EDItran start stop status [ s] [-t] [-f] The following options can be used: -t It generates EDITRAN with a trace -f It ignores another EDITRAN already running -s Silence mode (indicates boot/stop without whosing a confirmation window) start Boots EDITRAN system stop Stops EDITRAN system status Obtains the status of EDITRAN system INDRA. 19 4.EDITRAN SYSTEM If we wish to have a trace of the system working, the only option is booting EDITRAN in this way, with -t. If EDITRAN is running as a Service we cannot use the EDITRAN command and the following message will appear: From the EDItran service: In this way, EDITRAN boots as a Windows service. It can be started up with a specific user name without being logged. If we wish, we can associate it with the service EICON X25 si se quiere; in this way, if X25 service fails, EDITRAN will do the same. If you install it in this way, you must not use the semaphore to boot or to start EDITRAN; you will have to use the options Start (Iniciar) and Stop service (Detener servicio) from the Windows Services window (services.msc). To install it as a service, you must execute the file instserv.exe, located in the EDITRAN installation folder. You will have to check the box X25 if you have this module and you want to associate it to the X25 service. In the User section, you can choose whether to start up with the Windows local system account (local system), or to define a specific user. This last option can be used when we need special permissions for the treatment of the EDITRAN transmission files (network resources with limited permissions for specific users, etc.). A service called EDItran will be installed. USE LICENSE The control license software is incorporated in the EDITRAN process. Once the license system is properly installed, the control mechanism will run correctly without operating on it. Windows Phone support Once it is downloaded the installation pack of the new version of EDITRAN, you must follow these steps: 1. Stop the previous EDITRAN version (red semaphore) and close its P and G menus. 2. Make a backup of the old EDITRAN folder (without deleting or moving the original folder) and then uninstall it from Add or remove programs (Agregar o Quitar Programas) in the Control panel (Panel de Control). In Windows Vista, 7 and 2008 it will be Programs and features (Programas y características). 3. Start the installation of the product following the section 3.2 of this manual. 4. Once we have licensed the product, execute the file Migrar.exe which is located in the EDITRAN installation folder, in order to mígrate all the defined sessions to the new version. You must choose the folder where are the profiles of the previous EDITRAN version, and then choose the profiles version and then click on the button Migrate (Migrar). If there are errors, you must contact the EDITRAN Technical Support and ask a Windows technician to evaluate those messages. In most cases they are only warning messages, due to validations among versions, and they don t affect the consistancy of data during the migration (the messages which contain the message WARNING (AVISO)). If the previous EDITRAN version is installed in a different machine, you will have to copy the following files to the machine where the new EDITRAN is installed (you don t have to copy them straight to the new EDITRAN folder): editranp.cfg (EDITRAN/P profiles file) editrang.cfg (EDITRAN/G profiles file) editranp.tdx (EDITRAN/P profiles file (it doesn t exist from version 5.0.1)) editranp.sdx (EDITRAN/P profiles file) ckds.des (DES keys file) 5. If previous, later or exception user batchs (different to the ones by default) are being used, you must copy them to the root folder of the new EDITRAN and then modify the paths referring to the previous installation, if it is necessary. 6. Stop the old version EDITRAN with the command EDItran stop. 2. Perform the installation in the usual folder or, as a recommendation, in a new folder. If you perform it in the usual folder, is recommended to make a backup before deleting the content of this folder, except: editranp.cfg (EDITRAN/P profiles file) editrang.cfg (EDITRAN/G profiles file) rename ckds.des as ckds.des.old (DES keys file). Any script, special program, files or folders, not originally EDITRAN. 3. Start the product installation, following the section 2.2 in this manual. 4. Once the license is settled, and before migrating profiles, if the previous version is or lower, is necessary to import the auxiliar key SI from the previous installation. For this, you must execute: importkey s fckds.des.old SI The file ckds.des.old will be the file ckds.des from the old installation, but renamed. To export the keys is necessary to know the HMK of the old installation. If it was not modified and if you don t know it, you must contact the support group for them to notify you. If the previous version is or higher, you only have to copy the file ckds.des in the folder EDItran.510, replacing the existing file. 5. Migrate the sessions and presentations from a version to another. For this, you must copy the files editranp.cfg, editranp.sdx, editranp.tdx and editranp.cfg from the previous installation to the new folder. Delete the files editranp.cfg, editrang.cfg, editranp.tdx and editranp.sdx, and then execute the command to create profiles: ediperfi -fedi.txt igaperfi -figa.txt If there are errors, you must contact EDITRAN Technical Support and ask a UNIX technician to measure up the error messages, as in most cases they are warning messages due to validations among versions, and they don t affect the data consistency during migration (the messages which contain the message WARNING (AVISO)). 7. If the previous installation is or lower, or if the user incorporated his own keys in the store ckds.des, or if RSA keys are used, you must migrate executing: importkey s fckds.des.old 8. If you have specific EDITRAN modules, you will need to copy the corresponding setting files of the previous EDITRAN version to the new EDITRAN folder. Note: You may not have these files, as they are optional modules that maybe you didn t subscribe: ckds.rsa (RSA keys file) controlgc.cfg (EDITRAN/GC settings file (keys management)) distses.txt (EDITRAN/P users file for Department Interface) distpres.txt (EDITRAN/G users file for Department Interface) distribuido.cfg (EDITRAN/CL settings file) alarmas.cfg (Editran/EA alarms file) 9. Migration between different operating systems Migration can be made between different environments (from Windows to AIX, from Solaris to AIX, etc), following different steps: 1. Start the product installation, following in this manual the section for the operating system where you are performing the installation. 2. Migrate sessions and presentations from an operating system to another: For this, you must export the profiles to plain text in the original operating system. Execute the following actions (in the example, the version is 4.1 release 5): ediperfi -r -a V41 R5 -oedi.txt igaperfi -r -a -V41 R5 -oiga.txt 3. Rename the file ckds.des as ckds.des.old. 4. Now you will have to copy the files edi.txt, iga.txt, and ckds.des.old to EDITRAN in the new operating system.
