1 MicroMD PM + EMR Client Server Hardware and Software Requirements Last Updated: January 23, 2018 MicroMD PM + EMR Version 14.0 MicroMD PM + EMR Server Specs This document describes minimum requirements and recommended standards for using MicroMD PM + EMR. Exceeding the minimum standards may result in better system performance. MicroMD system requirements are based on a network consisting of running MicroMD in a dedicated environment with no other applications running. Please note these requirements do not take into consideration clients that may be running multiple MicroMD databases (i.e. billing services) on the same server. In these cases specs may need to exceed the recommended requirements. 3 Compatible Versions: 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, Editions: Standard, Enterprise 1 Per Microsoft it is not recommended to install SQL Server on a domain controller. There are specific security restrictions when running SQL Server in this configuration and given the resource demands of a domain controller, SQL Server performance may be degraded. Henry Schein MicroMD has tested both Norton Antivirus and AVG and both products function satisfactorily with MicroMD systems. Norton Antivirus could disrupt certain functionality in Citrix Environments. Choosing a backup: Tape drives are generally the least expensive reliable backup option. Note: Separate units for each day of the week are recommended, plus one unit for monthly backup, which is recommended to be stored off site. 3

However, Henry Schein MicroMD encounters far more support-related issues involving non-hp printers. Because Henry Schein MicroMD recommends only high quality HP printers, we do not test or support non-recommended printers. Henry Schein MicroMD does not recommend or support using an inkjet printer. Choosing a printer: For a typical 1-9 user office, Henry Schein MicroMD recommends installation of 1 printer on the network. For larger practices Henry Schein MicroMD recommends installation of 2 (or more) printer s on the network. Be sure to consider your practice size and needs. Every printer has a page-per-minute speed and a recommended number of pages per month, otherwise known as the duty cycle. These security measures are the responsibility of the client and should be performed by your IT vendor. Your IT vendor will be able to assist you with these items below. Registered Domain Name Each organization using specific eservices (those requiring SSL) from Henry Schein MicroMD will need to have a registered domain name. For example, where MyOrganizationName is the name of the practice. Static IP address SSL Certificate In most cases, this will be an upgrade from a dynamic IP address. In order to ensure secure transactions, an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate must be in place. This prevents any loss or sharing of private date from possible cyber criminals, and assures a smooth transaction. Needs to be registered to domain name. 6

Clients should determine the full internet needs of their practice before choosing an Internet Service Provider (ISP). 7

8 MicroMD Virtual Environments MicroMD PM + EMR database servers can run in a VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V environments. Henry Schein MicroMD reserves the right to modify these requirements. Virtual Environments Virtual Environment Version Vmware ESX, ESXi 3.5 or vsphere 4 Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 Dedicated RAM Performance Setting High Supported Operating System MicroMD requires a minimum of 8 GB of RAM to support Vmware or Hyper-V. Those 8 GB must be dedicated to the MicroMD virtual machine and not shared. Therefore your Vmware Server or Hyper-V Server should have 8 GB or more of RAM. The MicroMD server must be run in a high performance environment. In your virtual environment you must set your MicroMD Server s share priority to High. MicroMD must be installed on a Windows Server running: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Microsoft Windows Server bit Microsoft Windows Server bit Knowledgeable on Virtual Environment: The Client agrees that they fully understand the functionality of Vmware or Hyper-V and will maintain and manage the virtual machine s configuration. Client understands and agrees as follows: Client is willing to show proof that the current virtual environment meets all of the current requirements of this addendum at any time as requested by Henry Schein MicroMD. If the initial installation of MicroMD fails testing, you agree to replace the virtual server with a dedicated physical server. Henry Schein MicroMD will charge $125.00/hour for any additional support required to accommodate the MicroMD Server in a virtual environment. Henry Schein MicroMD will not troubleshoot any performance issues in the virtual environment. You are in control of your virtual server and must make sure to provide enough RAM and Priority. Henry Schein MicroMD does not participate in any virtual environment migrations. 8

9 MicroMD PM + EMR Client Server Hardware and Software Requirements Signature Page Please sign and return to your sales representative GENERAL TERMS These hardware requirements are subject to change with the issuance of new MicroMD software versions or due to the specific needs or requirements of the individual client. MicroMD products follow manufacturer s recommendations for software efficiency, as well as its own internal testing to determine the hardware requirements for MicroMD products to perform at optimal efficiency. I, as the client, and, if applicable, our designated representative (IT/hardware vendor, consultant or system administrator), agrees to be responsible for ensuring all hardware and software compatibility according to these requirements. It is strongly recommended that a hardware maintenance contract be in place with a 3 rd party IT/ hardware vendor or consultant to help manage IT/hardware decisions, purchases and ongoing maintenance for your organization. I have reviewed the requirements for Virtual Environments. If it is decided that the client opts to operate MicroMD products within a Virtual Environment, current requirements will be met in order to ensure continued software support according to your Software Maintenance Agreement. By signing this document, you, as the Client, and, if applicable, your IT/hardware vendor, consultant or system administrator certifies that your hardware and software meets or exceeds the requirements as outlined in this document. Failure to comply could result in performance issues and/or the cancellation of MicroMD software installations or upgrades, as well as the incurrence of additional costs in the form of support fees and/or hardware and software purchases to meet the requirements as outlined in this document. By meeting or exceeding the hardware and software requirements, clients can be assured that Henry Schein MicroMD Client Support will continue to support the MicroMD software as outlined in your Software Maintenance Agreement.
