SETTING THE LED BEZEL DEFAULT COLOR SETTING To set or chnge the LED Bezel defult color setting, proceed s follows: NOTE: Before chnging settings, record the current settings of DIP Switches #1 through #8 in DIP Switch Block #2. These settings will need to be restored in order to complete this procedure. 1. Remove power from the DBV-500 Bnknote Vlidtor Unit. 2. Set the DBV-500 DIP Switch Block #1 (Switches #1, #4, #5, #6, #7 nd #8) settings to. 3. Restore power to the DBV-500 Bnknote Vlidtor Unit. 4. Select the desired Bezel LED Color SOLID by setting DIP Switch Block #2 s indicted in Tble 4 below. NOTE: To chnge the Bezel LED Color from SOLID to Flshing (/) disply, set the DIP Switch Block #2 Switches (Tble 4) for the desired LED Color, then set Switch #8 to enble the Flshing function for the selected LED Color. SENSOR AND ROLLER CLEANING PROCEDURE To clen the DBV-500 Unit, gently wipe the Sensors nd Rollers using clen (slightly dmp) lint-free Microfiber cloth. NOTE: DO NOT use Alcohol, solvents, citrus-bsed products or scouring gents. These items my cuse dmge to the Vlidtion Section Sensors nd Rollers. 1. Turn the DBV-500 Unit Power. 2. Open the Vlidtion Guide. 3. Clen the Lens of ech Sensor (yellow) nd the Rollers (green). (See Figure 3 for Loctions nd Tble 5 for Clening Methods.) 4. NOTE: For DBV-500, JCM Tool Suite Version 1.29 or higher is required. Figure 4 JCM Tool Suite Min Screen The JCM Tool Suite Stndrd Edition supports the following opertionl modes nd User-selectble Functions, under the Service Mode drop-down Menu: The vilble Service Mode Functions include: Norml Mode or Opertionl Mode (All DIP Switch Block #1 Switches = ): Downlod Sttistics Event Log View Test Mode (DIP Switch Block #1 Switch #8 = ): Downlod Sttistics Sensor Adjustment Performnce Test Event Log View NOTE: All Dignostics Tests cn lso be performed by setting vrious DIP Switch settings. For more informtion on setting the DIP Switches for testing, refer to Section 6 in the DBV Series DBV-500 Opertion nd Mintennce Mnul (P/N 960-100933R {EDP #233449}). Use Stndrd USB Type-A to Mini-B Cble between the PC nd DBV-500. 1. Remove the Csh Box. 2. Connect the Mini-B cble to the USB Port by the DIP Switches. 3. Connect the Type-A connector to the USB Port on the PC. 4. Apply power to the DBV-500 Unit. 5. Open the JCM Tool Suite Appliction. When connected, the Device Informtion Fields will be filled in, s shown in Figure 4. 9

SOFTWARE DOWNLOAD PROCEDURE To updte the Softwre Version in the DBV-500 Unit: 1. Click the Service Mode drop-down menu (Figure 5 ), then click Downlod. From the folder tht contins the DBV-500 downlod file, click the DBV-500 Downlod file nme, then click the Open screen button. The JCM Downloder Suite Edition Version x.xx disply reppers. 4. Click Downlod to strt the file trnsfer (Figure 6 b). NOTE: A Blue Brogrph will disply the downlod progression. When downloding is complete, the DBV-500 Unit will utomticlly reset, nd the Online messge will be displyed (Figure 6 c). 10

Disconnect the USB Cble used for the Downlod, nd remove power from the DBV-500 Unit. 7. Set the DIP Switches on the DBV-500 Unit to the Opertionl position. NOTE: If the DBV-500 Softwre becomes corrupted or is not instlled (e.g., when chnging the CPU Circuit Bord), set Forced Downlod Mode by setting DIP Switch Block #1 Switches #6, #7 nd #8. (The DIP Switches re locted behind the Csh Box; remove the Csh Box to gin ccess). 11

Disconnect the DBV-500 Unit from its power source. 2. Remove the DBV-500 Unit s Csh Box to ccess the Mintennce USB Port. 3. Set DIP Switch Block #1, Switch #8. 4. Reconnect the DBV-500 Unit to its power source. 5. Connect USB Type-A to Mini-B cble between the PC s USB Port nd the DBV-500 Mintennce USB Port. 6. Lunch the JCM Tool Suite Stndrd Edition softwre ppliction. 7. Click the Service Mode drop-down menu (Figure 5), then select Performnce Test (refer to Figure 7 on the following pge). 8. Click on the desired Performnce Test in the left column (e.g., STACK TEST). 9. Click the Strt Screen Button to begin the Performnce Test. Test Results re displyed in the Performnce Test window (right column). 10.Click the Stop Screen Button to end the selected Performnce Test. NOTE: Repet Steps 8 through 10 bove to run dditionl Performnce Tests. 12

To run Performnce Tests using DIP Switch Settings, proceed s follows: 1. Disconnect the DBV-500 Unit from its power source. 2. Remove the DBV-500 Unit s Csh Box. 3. Set DIP Switch Block #1, Switch #8. 4. Reconnect the the DBV-500 Unit to its power source. 5. Set the pproprite DIP Switch(es) to s shown in Tble 6. 6. Set DIP Switch Block #1, Switch #8 to begin the Performnce Test. 7. Confirm correct opertion. 8. Set DIP Switch Block #1, Switch #8 to end the selected Performnce Test. NOTE: To perform the Acceptnce Test: 1. Turn DIP Switch Block #1 Switch 8. 2. Set the Csh Box onto the DBV-500 Unit. The Acceptnce Test will begin utomticlly. NOTE: KS-091 Reference Pper is specified for use when clibrting the DBV-500. VALIDATI SENSOR CALIBRATI To perform the DBV-500 Vlidtion Sensor Clibrtion procedure: 1. Disconnect power from the DBV-500 Unit. 2. Set DIP Switch Block #1, Switch # 8 to. 3. Restore power to the DBV-500 Unit. NOTE: The DBV-500 Unit s Front Bezel LED will flsh Green. 4. Connect the USB Type-A to Mini-B cble between your PC s USB port nd the USB port locted on the DBV-500 Unit. 5. Lunch the JCM Tool Suite Stndrd Edition softwre ppliction. 6. Click the Service Mode drop-down menu (Figure 5), then click Sensor Adjustment. 7. Confirm tht the DBV-500 Clibrtion Tool is running, s shown in Figure 8. Figure 8 DBV-500 Clibrtion Tool 8. Click the Sensor Clibrtion function screen button (Figure 8 ). The Sensor Clibrtion screen ppers momentrily (refer to Figure 9). 16

9. Follow the onscreen prompts nd click the Strt button (Figure 9 ) to begin the DBV-500 Vlidtion Sensor Clibrtion. NOTE: KS-091 Reference Pper must be used for Clibrtion of the DBV-500. Then click the Close box (Figure 10 b) to close the Sensor Clibrtion Screen nd complete the Clibrtion process. WHITE LEVEL TEST To perform the DBV-500 White Level Test procedure: 1. Disconnect power from the DBV-500 Unit. 2. Set DIP Switch Block #1, Switch # 8 to. 3. Restore power to the DBV-500 Unit. NOTE: The DBV-500 Unit s Front Bezel LED will flsh Green. 4. Connect the USB Type-A to Mini-B cble between your PC s USB port nd the USB port locted on the DBV-500 Unit. 5. Lunch the JCM Tool Suite Stndrd Edition softwre ppliction. 6. Click the Service Mode drop-down menu, then click Sensor Adjustment. 7. Confirm tht the DBV-500 Clibrtion Tool is running, s shown in Figure 11. Figure 11 DBV-500 Clibrtion Tool 8. Click the White Level Test function screen button (Figure 11 ). The White Level Test screen ppers momentrily (refer to Figure 12). 18

9. Follow the onscreen prompts nd click the Strt button (Figure 12 ) to begin the DBV-500 White Level Test. NOTE: KS-091 Reference Pper must be used for Clibrtion of the DBV-500. November, 2016 JCM Trining Overview DBV-500 Bnknote Vlidtor LED ERROR CODES STARTUP ERRORS Strtup Errors cn occur during initil power up of the DBV-500 Unit. During Norml Operting Mode, the Bezel LED flshes white; in Performnce Test Mode, however, the Bezel LED flshes white intervls. To identify the Strtup Error, count the flshes between puses, then consult Tble 8 to determine the Error, Cuses nd Solutions.
