3 Results of SEO audit and Elsevier s roadmap An audit in June 2018 revealed 4 key action points to target from 5.14 onwards: 1. Sitemap 2. Meta descriptions 3. 100% mobile responsive 4. Legible font sizes
4 What else can we do? Focus on engagement and retention - Bounce rates, session length and page traffic are key components of SEO ranking. - Ongoing efforts to increase researcher and wider public engagement with content will improve page rankings. Empower the user (both admin & personal) Make for easier content management and personalisation, incl. more use of images
5 What you can do Increase the quality and quantity of links from other domains into your pages. - Leverage strength of your other domain(s). Cultivate links from your main institutional website, both to the Portal homepage and lower levels. - Encourage your researchers to be active online communicators. Add links to Twitter and other social profiles and websites to Profiles. Work with researchers to keep profiles up-to-date with current research output, collaborations, media mentions Add profile pictures and research statements to researcher profiles!
