Description What s new in Content Manager OnDemand V7.1: Store and/or access data on other OnDemand V7.1 servers. V7.1 includes the capability to mix and match servers to support the architecture and geographic needs of the customers, while allowing the data to be kept closer to the requesting users, minimizing network traffic. For example, a Chicago-based company with an z/os-based library and object server could add an additional object server in Dallas which could be on any OnDemand V7.1 platform. Or a customer could choose to run their OnDemand V7.1 library server on AIX or NT, with the object servers on z/os. (ODF). The OnDemand Distribution Facility (ODF) is an optionally priced feature of Content Manager OnDemand that enables the bundling and automatic distribution of reports and documents stored into OnDemand. With this feature, full reports, report segments, or single pages can be distributed to users or groups as needed. The desired granularity is determined at indexing. After reports are stored in OnDemand, an automated scheduling component of OnDemand extracts and bundles the content and places this output on valid JES queue, so it can be printed or sent over the network. Documents are distributed, based on recipient definitions defined by an administrator, using an administrative client of ODF. User exits are provided for enhanced customization, plus entire reports or selected segments can be distributed as required. OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (ODWEK) This new feature, OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (ODWEK), provides searching, retrieval, and viewing of OnDemand data via the Web using industry-standard browsers. ODWEK is an optionally priced feature that replaces the OnDemand Internet Access Facility, previously available only through service offerings. Documents stored in OnDemand can be retrieved and transformed into files that can be viewed at the Web browser. For example, using the OnDemand Web Enablement Kit, a separately priced optional feature for Content Manager OnDemand, users can retrieve a Metacode document from an OnDemand server, call the Xenos transform to convert the Metacode document to a PDF file, and send the PDF file to the Web browser. Users can retrieve AFP, PDF, EBCDIC, ASCII, HTML and line-data for viewing via Web browser without additional transforms. More indexing flexibility. With an increased number of available indexes per document or report (up to 32), customers have increased flexibility in indexing their documents and reports in order to provide easier access to those documents and reports. Enhanced AFP Conversion Indexing Facility (ACIF) is included with the product. Improved PDF Indexing. The OnDemand PDF indexer is an optionally priced feature that enhances your ability to store, retrieve, and view PDF documents stored in OnDemand. This feature extracts index data from Adobe PDF input files and generates relevant index data in the OnDemand Library Server to support user searching. The PDF indexer supports PDF Version 1.2 input and output data streams. For more information about the PDF data stream, refer to the Portable Document Format Reference Manual, published by Adobe Systems Incorporated. Adobe also provides online information with the Acrobat Exchange and Acrobat Distiller products, including online guides for Adobe Capture, PDFWriter, Distiller, and Exchange. Large Object Support. CM OnDemand Large Object support provides the ability to only retrieve desired sections of large indexed documents. For instance, a large 200-page object could be broken down into numerous 20-page segments and only the relevant segment would be returned to the requestor. This function is defined at the administrator client. Additional levels of security. Allows more choices in defining security as well as the ability to distribute security by department or groups of users with associated reports. VSAM file support. Provides the ability to use VSAM for cache as well as IBM Object Access Method (OAM). Additional printstream support, including Xerox datastreams. Support for a broader set of print datastreams is provided through tighter integration with Xenos transforms. These transforms include the following: Metacode-to-AFP Metacode-to-PDF Metacode-to-Metacode (for index/capture processing, while keeping native Metacode format) PCL-to-PDF AFP-to-PDF Capture of Metacode and PCL datastreams now allows customers with Xerox printers, or business applications which generate PCL output, to reap the benefits of the Content Manager OnDemand computer output to laser disk (COLD) system. These Xenos transforms are tightly integrated allowing the Content Manager OnDemand administrator to easily define and capture these new output formats (using the OnDemand utilities) in addition to other currently-supported formats (AFP, line data, and PDF). In addition, this tight integration enables the Content Manager OnDemand administrator to define both the source and archive data format for each report during report definition and setup. Subsequently, while loading reports into the Content Manager OnDemand system, the OnDemand load process (ARSLOAD) will directly invoke the appropriate, licensed Xenos transform for indexing, segmentation, and loading of these reports into OnDemand. OnDemand also supports IBM Printing Systems AFP2WEB transforms. The Xenos transforms further enhance Content Manager OnDemand s ability to access archived data via the internet or the Windows client. The solution retrieves the data stored in its native format and converts it dynamically into e-content formats, such as PDF, XML and HTML for distribution. This functionality makes Content Manager OnDemand beneficial for both your internal and external audiences. The integration of the Xenos transforms also enables archived data to be transformed to alternative print streams to allow for reprinting. Note: A services-based CICS Client Application is also available. Contact your IBM Content Management Sales Specialist for further details. 201-281 -2-
