This symbol warns he user of a possible faul. Failure o heed his warning can lead o oal failure of he device and any oher conneced equipmen. Aenion This symbol draws aenion o imporan informaion. Noe 2 Overview 2.1 Range of applicaion Ediion 03/2009 112405 The K-Sysem devices from Pepperl+Fuchs are used for ransmiing signals beween field devices and a process conrol sysem/conrol sysem. The devices marked wih "Ex" in he ype designaion are suiable for he connecion of field devices used in poenially explosive amospheres. Safe field circuis for hese devices are inrinsically safe and are galvanically isolaed from non-inrinsically safe circuis. The devices hus esablish an elecromagneic separaion beween he poenially explosive amospheres and he safe areas in a sysem. 3

Overview The KF**-DU-Ex1.D imer relays of he K-Sysem (DU for shor) can be used o ransform inpu pulses in various ways, hus processing hem for he evaluaion. You can use a imer relay o record rapid couner pulses, for example, or o exend very shor pulses, hus o process signals from pipe inspecion devices wih a slow PLC. Parameers are se for he DU wih an inegraed conrol panel. More informaion (for example, cerificaes and daa shees for he DU devices and he operaing manual for he K-Sysem) can be found on our webpage www.pepperl-fuchs.com (ener *DU* in he produc search). 2.2 Model varians The imer relay is available in hree versions: KFD2-DU-Ex1.D wih a power supply of 24 V DC KFA5-DU-Ex1.D wih a power supply of 115 V AC KFA6-DU-Ex1.D wih a power supply of 230 V AC The device mus no be used wihou addiional overvolage proecion in disribued DC neworks. Noe Ediion 03/2009 112405 4

Overview 2.3 Inpus and oupus A K-Sysem DU from Pepperl+Fuchs has an inrinsically safe inpu (blue erminal block) o which a NAMUR sensor or a mechanical conac can be conneced and wo oupus, specifically one relay oupu and one poenial free ransisor oupu, as well as a non-inrinsically safe inpu for premaurely ending a ime funcion once i has been sared (rese of oupus), please see also secion 5.2.2.
