Updating Your YRDSB Email and Wireless Network Password on Personal Mobile Devices/Tablets/Laptops If you change your YRDSB network password and you forget to change the password on any of your mobile devices/tablets/laptops that access the YRDSB s wireless network (YRDSB A or YRDSB S) AND/OR your YRDSB email, your account can be locked out for up to 30 minutes until all of your computers or devices have been updated. And even when you then enter the updated password on your device(s), if the account is locked, the device will not save your credentials. Thus it is vital that you follow the instructions below, according to your device make and model, to ensure you minimize the risk of locking your account. It is important to note that you need to change the password on ALL mobile devices/laptops that access the YRDSB s wireless network and/or your YRDSB email account or you run the risk of locking your account. Short of supplying the configuration settings below to assist you with modifying your password for your YRDSB email to a personal mobile device, as well as providing instructions for modifying your password to the Board s wireless, this is the extent of the YRDSB s ServiceDesk support of personal mobile devices/computers. You may need to contact your mobile provider and/or device manufacturer for further assistance. If you suspect your account is locked, you can either wait 30 minutes and try these instructions again or contact the ServiceDesk at 905 727 0022 ext. 4357, Option 7 to have them unlock your Board account. Refer to the following instructions on how to change your YRDSB password on each individual device: iphone, ipad/ipad Mini, ipod (ios) email and wireless settings Android Phones & Tablets email and wireless settings BlackBerry Phones & Tablets Laptops Operating systems (Windows 10/8/7, Mac OS) Forgetting wireless connection If you utilize a device not listed above, you will need to seek out further assistance from your device s manufacturer. Note that the instructions provided are for the latest versions of the mobile operating systems. Your device s settings may differ slightly if you are utilizing a different version of your operating system. Please note that the below steps are only for PERSONAL mobile devices. These steps are not necessary on a Board issued laptop joined to either the YRDSB or EDU domain. Your connection to the YRDSB s wireless network will be automatically updated with your new YRDSB password. For EACH device/tablet/laptop you use that connects to YRDSB A/YRDSB S, or accesses your YRDSB email, you need to do the following to change the password on your device. 1. Forget the YRDSB Board wireless network on ALL your personal mobile devices (that either access the YRDSB s wireless network AND/OR access your YRDSB email) BEFORE changing your password. 2. Turn ON Airplane / Flight Mode on your device. 3. For any personal computer/laptop connected to the YRDSB Wireless Networks, turn OFF the wireless or enable Airplane Mode. AFTER you change your Board password via the BWW (Teachers/EAs/DECEs/Caretakers/Casual Employees) or the use of Ctrl+Alt+Del on Board issued Admin based computers (Administrative Staff) at your Board location while hard wired to a network drop (or via a docking station for laptop users), proceed with the following on each personal mobile device: 1. Under your device s Settings option, access your existing Board email account set up and update the password. 2. Turn OFF Airplane / Flight Mode. 3. Re connect to the Board s wireless network.
