Magify butto (Zoom) You ca chage the image resolutio i all applicatios, except i those that use the MOTIO EYE Camera or the DVD player. Whe a exteral display is coected to your computer, the Magify butto is disabled. The default resolutio of your computer's LCD is 1280 x 768 pixels,highest (32 bit), ad the resolutio of 1024 x 600 pixels is applied after magificatio. The magified view is implemeted by applyig the resolutio of 1024 x 600 pixels to the LCD with the resolutio of 1280 x 768 pixels, thus ot as clear as the origial view. Pressig the (Magify) butto chages the resolutio, thus may cause a defect to ay ruig software that does ot support chage i resolutio. Make sure to quit such software before pressig the (Magify) butto. The (Magify) butto may ot work with graphic images as it magifies the scree view by chagig the resolutio. The locatio ad size of software widows may chage whe the scree view is magified or the origial view is restored because pressig the (Magify) butto chages the resolutio. With other profiles, the movies ca be choppy. Do ot switch power savig modes while playig a DVD video. Do ot use residet disc utilities or residet utilities to speed up the access of discs, because they may cause the system to become ustable. Make sure that the screesaver is deactivated. Depedig o the display setup properties you selected, you may use the <F>+<F> commad to expad the scree to full scree size. Uless a 2 (Europe belogs to regio '2') or All (this meas that you ca play this DVD everywhere i the world) is labelled o your DVD disc or o the packagig, you caot play the disc o this player. Do ot try to chage the regio code settigs of the DVD-ROM drive. Ay difficulties caused by chagig the regio code settigs of DVD-ROM drive are out of warraty. 41

Your computer caot be coected to a coi-operated telephoe, ad may ot work with multiple phoe lies or a private brach exchage (PBX). If you coect the modem to a parallel coected phoe lie, the modem or the other coected device may ot fuctio properly. Usig your otebook Usig power savig modes Whe you use a battery as the source of power for your computer, you ca take advatage of power maagemet settigs to coserve battery life. I additio to the ormal operatig mode, which allows you to tur off specific devices, your computer has two distict power savig modes: Stadby ad Hiberate. Whe usig battery power, you should be aware that the computer automatically eters Hiberate mode whe the remaiig battery charge drops below 7 percet, regardless of the power maagemet settig you select. If the battery level falls below 10 percet, you should either attach the AC adapter to recharge the battery or shut dow your computer ad isert a fully charged battery. 59 Usig ormal mode This is the ormal state of your computer whe it is i use. The gree power idicator light is o i this mode. To save power while ot workig, you ca tur off a specific device such as the LCD or the hard disk. Usig Stadby mode Stadby mode turs off the LCD scree ad sets the hard disk ad the CPU to a low power cosumptio mode. The umber power light flashes i this mode. To activate Stadby mode, proceed as follows: Press the <F> ad <Esc> keys simultaeously. Alteratively, 1 Click Start ad the Tur Off Computer. 2 I the Tur off computer scree, press Stadby. The computer eters Stadby mode.

Whe the computer is i Stadby mode, you caot isert a disc. The computer comes out of Stadby mode quicker tha out of Hiberate mode. Stadby uses more power tha Hiberate. If you do ot use your computer for 25 miutes while o AC power, it will eter Stadby mode. Whe ruig o batteries, the computer will eter Stadby mode after 5 miutes whe left uused. As a result, if you are usig the CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, the operatio will be iterrupted. To avoid this, you ca chage the settigs either i PowerPael (right-click o the PowerPael ico ad select Edit/Create Profile) or i the Cotrol Pael. Please ote that your Cotrol Pael settigs are valid oly util the ext reboot. 60 Usig Hiberate mode The state of the system is saved o the hard disk ad power is tured off. This ico appears whe you right-click the CPU ico i the taskbar ad select Profiles ad the Ultimate Battery Life. This will be the default ico whe the computer ruig o batteries. This cotrol helps to maximize the CPU clock speed. The computer ca the be used at its maximum performace. This will be the default ico whe playig games or watchig a DVD. 68 Editig a power profile To edit the power maagemet settigs of a power profile, proceed as follows: 1 Right-click the PowerPael ico i the taskbar ad select Edit/Create Profiles from the meu.
