Usig the AC adapter To use the AC adapter, proceed as follows: 1 Plug the cable attached to the AC adapter (1) ito the DC I coector (2) o the computer. 2 Plug oe ed of the power cord (3) ito the AC adapter. 3 Plug the other ed of the power cord ito a AC outlet. Usig your otebook Usig the battery pack You ca use a battery pack as a source of power. The battery pack supplied with your computer is ot fully charged at the time of purchase. Isertig the battery pack To isert the battery, proceed as follows: 1 Move the lock lever (1) o the bottom of the computer to the Ulock positio. 2 Alig the grooves (2) ad tabs o the battery (3) with the tabs ad otches o the back of the computer, ad the slide the battery towards the computer util it clicks ito place. 3 Slide the lock lever ito the Lock positio to secure the battery o the computer. Whe the computer is directly coected to AC power ad has a battery pack iserted i the battery bay, it uses power from the AC outlet. Make sure the cover is closed before isertig the battery pack. 24

Usig your otebook Usig power savig modes Whe you use a battery as the source of power for your computer, you ca take advatage of power maagemet settigs to coserve battery life. I additio to the ormal operatig mode, which allows you to tur off specific devices, your computer has two distict power savig modes: Stadby ad Hiberate. Whe usig battery power, you should be aware that the computer automatically eters Hiberate mode whe the remaiig battery charge drops below 7 percet, regardless of the power maagemet settig you select. If the battery level falls below 10 percet, you should either attach the AC adapter to recharge the battery or shut dow your computer ad isert a fully charged battery. 53 Usig ormal mode This is the ormal state of your computer whe it is i use. The gree power idicator light is o i this mode. To save power while ot workig, you ca tur off a specific device such as the LCD or the hard disk. Usig Stadby mode The computer saves the curret state of the system i RAM ad switches off power to the CPU. The umber power light flashes i this mode.
