Kaltura App You can record and post videos to Canvas from your mobile device. Things to Remember - Confirm your microphone is enabled and the volume is at the maximum before recording. - Videos created using your device s camera do not upload in the background of the Kaltura app. If you close the Kaltura app while a video is uploading, the upload process will pause until you re-open the app. - Videos recorded using your device s camera are not stored on the device, which helps preserve your device storage. - The Kaltura app allows for limited video editing. Full editing capabilities are available in the desktop (PC / Mac) version of My Media in Canvas. Downloading the App Follow these steps to download the Kaltura MediaSpace mobile app. The mobile app is available for both Apple and Android devices. 1. Open your device s App Store. You can also find the app in the Maryville Cloud. 2. Search for, and install Kaltura MediaSpace. 3. Open MediaSpace.

4. Tap learn.mediaspace.kaltura.com in the Enter the URL of your MediaSpace site text box. My Media 5. Tap Submit. My Media follows you throughout Canvas. You can access all your videos regardless of which course you re logged in to and regardless of the device you re using. To access My Media from the MediaSpace mobile app 1. Tap the person icon, and then tap Login.

2. Sign in, by tapping Sign in, to the Kaltura MediaSpace app using your Maryville.edu credentials. 3. Tap the person icon, and then tap My Media. My Media provides different search options.

You can: Sort by Most Recent View All Statuses: Private, Published, Pending, Rejected, or Unlisted View All Media: Sort by Video, Quiz, Audio, or Image In addition, you can see how many people have viewed your recording. Actions List The Actions list in My Media allows you to Publish, Add to playlist, or Delete a video.

To publish a video 1. Tap the person icon, and then tap My Media. 2. Tap the checkbox next to the applicable video. 3. From the Actions list, tap + Publish. 4. Tap Save. 5. Tap a selection. You can make your video Private, Unlisted, or Published. 6. Tap Save, when finished.

To delete a video 1. From My Media, tap the checkbox next to the applicable video. 2. From the Actions list, tap Delete. 3. Confirm you want to delete the video, and then tap Delete. Kaltura Mobile App Recording a Video 1. Open MediaSpace. 2. Tap the person icon, and then tap Login.

3. Tap your Maryville username and password in the User ID and Password text boxes. 4. Tap Sign in. 5. From the person icon, tap Media Upload. 6. Tap Choose a file to upload.

7. Tap an option. If you choose Take Photo or Video from the list, you must tap OK to allow MediaSpace to access your device s camera. 8. Tap OK to allow MediaSpace to access your device s microphone.

9. Slide to Video, and then tap the record button. 10. Record your video, and then tap the stop recording button, when finished. 11. Tap Retake or Use Video. Uploading Media After you tap Use Video, MediaSpace uploads your video. Follow these steps once the upload is complete.

1. Complete the form. Private means the video won t be visible in the Media Gallery. 2. Tap a tag(s) for easier searching, and then tap the word from the search list. 3. Tap Save.

4. Confirmation messages appears. 5. View the video by tapping Go To Media, or view and edit the video by tapping Go To My Media. Editing a Video After you tap Go To My Media, you have the options to share, publish, edit, delete, or add your video to a playlist. To edit your video, tap Edit from the Actions list.

Details Tab 1. Complete the form, and then tap Save. 2. A confirmation message appears.

Options Tab Select the desired options, and then tap Save. Kaltura Mobile App

Captions Tab Add captions to your video by uploading a captions file. 1. Tap Upload captions file. 2. Select a file to upload. 3. Select a Language, and then tap a Label. 4. Tap Save, when finished.

Timeline Tab Create video chapters or upload slides to play in the video. Creating a Chapter 1. Create a chapter by tapping the bookmark icon. 2. In the Chapter Thumbnail section, tap Auto or Upload to select a thumbnail image. When choosing Auto, the slide the bookmark is on appears as the image.

3. In the Chapter Information section, tap the Chapter Title and Chapter Description. 4. In the Time and Tags section, use the arrows to set the time the chapter begins. 5. Tap the search tags, if desired. Separate each tag with a comma. Tags are beneficial for searching for recordings on a specific topic. 6. Tap Save, when finished. Tapping View in Player refreshes the video, and allows you to view your changes.

Adding Slides 1. Add a new slide by tapping the document icon. 2. In the Upload Slide section, tap the arrow to upload a new file. 3. Tap to choose a file to upload, and then tap Save. If you choose Photo Library, you must tap OK to allow MediaSpace to access your device s photos.

4. Choose a photo, and then tap Save. Change the slide by tapping the arrow again. 5. In the Slide Information section, tap the Slide Title and Slide Description. 6. In the Time and Tags section, use the arrows to set the time where the slide appears.

7. Tap search tags, if desired. Separate each tag with a comma. Tags are beneficial for searching for recordings on a specific topic. 8. Tap Save, when finished. Tapping View in Player will refresh the video, and allow you to view your changes. Editing a Video from My Media Follow these steps to edit a video from My Media in MediaSpace. 1. Tap the person icon, and then tap My Media. 2. A list of your recordings appear. 3. Tap Edit next to the applicable recording.

Tapping View in Player will refresh the video, and allow you Video Comments to view your changes. To comment on a recording 1. From My Media, tap the blue comment icon by the applicable recording. 2. In the Comments section, tap a comment in the text box, and then tap Add.

To view and reply to comments When viewers comment on your recording, a notification appears on your My Media dashboard. Follow these steps to view and reply to comments made to your recording. 1. Tap the applicable recording, or the comment icon. Comments appear in the Comment section.

2. Reply to the comment by tapping Reply. Or, delete the comment by tapping Delete. Playlists Creating a Playlist 1. From My Media, tap the checkbox next to the applicable recording.

2. From the Actions list, tap + Add to playlist. 3. Tap a playlist name in the Create new playlist text box, and then tap Create. The playlist appears below. Saving a Video to a Playlist 1. From My Media, tap the checkbox next to the applicable recording.

2. From the Actions list, tap + Add to playlist. 3. Tap the checkbox next to the applicable playlist, and tap Save. 4. Tap Go To My Playlists to view your playlists.

Deleting a Video from a Playlist 1. From the person icon, tap My Playlists. 2. Tap the playlist name from the left-hand menu, and then tap Delete Playlist. 3. Confirm you want to delete the playlist, and then tap Delete. 4. When you return to My Playlists, the playlist should be gone.

Channels Creating a Channel 1. Tap the person icon, and then tap My Channels. 2. Tap + Create Channel.

3. Complete the form, and then tap Save. Adding a Video to Your Channel 1. Tap the person icon, and then tap My Channels. 2. Tap a channel. 3. Tap + Add to Channel.

4. Tap the checkbox next to a video. You can select more than one video to add. 5. Tap + Publish. 6. The video appears in your channel. Adding Students to a Channel 1. Tap the person icon, and then tap My Channels. 2. Tap Edit.

3. Tap the Members tab. 4. Tap Add Member. 5. Tap a Canvas user ID in the Enter user name text box. 6. Select a permission from the Set permission list. 7. Tap Add.

8. A confirmation message appears. The student also appears in the member list. 9. Tap Add Member to add an additional member, repeat as necessary. Change the Default Permission Level by select a new permission from the list, and then tap Save. 10. The student will see the channel upon log in to the MediaSpace app. Editing / Deleting a Channel 1. Tap the person icon, and then tap My Channels. 2. Tap Edit. 3. Make any changes, and then tap Save. Or, tap Delete Channel to delete the channel.

Embedding a Video in Canvas: Faculty Kaltura Mobile App You can embed a video directly into a Canvas announcement, assignment, discussion post, or module. Basically, you can embed a recording anywhere there is a rich content editor in Canvas. Embedded videos can be Private or Published. The benefit of embedding a video directly into Canvas is that the video will copy from course to course. Before you embed a video into an assignment from your ipad, you must enable cookies. To enable cookies 1. From your ipad, tap Settings. 2. Tap Safari. 3. Under Privacy & Security, tap Block Cookies. 4. Tap Always Allow.

To embed a video into an assignment 1. From Safari, log in to your course in Canvas. 2. Tap Assignments. 3. Tap + Assignment. 4. Tap a title in the Assignment Name text box. Follow steps 5 through 9 anywhere there is a rich content editor. 5. In the assignment description text box, tap the More External Tools icon, which appears as a caret. 6. Tap Embed Kaltura Media.

7. From the pop-up, tap the display size from the list, which is indicated by the arrow next to Select. Or, tap Select next to the recording you want to embed. The default size is Medium. 8. Continue tapping the description, if desired, and then configure the assignment settings as normal. 9. Tap Save & Publish or Save, when finished. Embedding a Video in Canvas: Students You can embed a recording directly into a Canvas assignment or discussion post. Basically, you can embed a recording anywhere there is a rich content editor in Canvas. Before you embed a video into an assignment or discussion post from your ipad, you must enable cookies. To enable cookies 1. From your ipad, tap Settings. 2. Tap Safari. 3. Under Privacy & Security, tap Block Cookies.

4. Tap Always Allow. To embed a video into a discussion 1. From Safari, log in to a course in Canvas. 2. Tap Discussions. 3. Tap the discussion name.

4. Tap Reply. Follow steps 5 through 8 anywhere there is a rich content editor. 5. In the discussion reply text box, tap the More External Tools icon, which appears as a caret. 6. Tap Embed Kaltura Media.

7. Tap the display size from the list, which is indicated by the arrow next to Select. Or, tap Select next to the recording you want to embed. The default size is Medium. 8. Continue tapping the discussion post, if desired, and then tap Post Reply.
