4 Class Summary As many of us know, changing from one software solution to another is not an easy task. In most cases, companies must put applications through a rigorous process to set them up to meet company standards. When changing from one program to another, it is ideal to maintain the largest amount of customized data possible. This class covers converting your current Bentley AutoPLANT, Intergraph CADWorx, or CSV-formatted specs and catalogs into AutoCAD Plant 3D specs and catalogs. We go through the process for conversions as well as take an in-depth look into the mapping and the setup of the mapping inside of the AutoCAD Plant 3D Spec Editor.

6 Understanding Conversion Mapping

7 Where to access the Mapping Settings File > Convert > Settings > Select appropriate option AutoPlant to Plant 3D Settings CADWorx to Plant 3DSettings CSV to Plant 3D Settings The theory behind the mapping is the same. Input information will vary.

8 Class Mapping Tab Define the corresponding AutoCAD Plant 3D Class for external Classes. Map General and Class specific properties for accurate translation.

10 Global Properties VS Class Specific Properties Apply to ALL Classes Defined Once Examples: Long Description Short Description Material Etc. Unique to a Component Override Global Properties Override Port information with the # Symbol

11 Assigning A Class Missing classes can cause a Spec/Catalog to not be converted 100% Create a New Class and assign the corresponding AutoCAD Plant 3D class.

12 Adding in Component Specific Properties Create a text files containing properties to quickly copy and paste.

13 Adding in Component Specific Properties Copy properties from one component to another using the Class Mapping XML file. Add the External Class 1 st Secondly assign the corresponding P3D Class Shut down AutoCAD Plant 3D Spec Editor

14 Match or Apply MATCH: The Spec/Catalog converter will match the value/text from the specified column in the external spec/catalog to the AutoCAD Plant 3D property. AutoCAD Plant 3D Spec Editor AutoPlant Catalog AutoCAD Plant 3D Catalog

15 Match or Apply APPLY: The value/text filled in, in the Mapping Settings under external property will become the value/text in the converted Spec/Catalog AutoCAD Plant 3D Spec Editor AutoCAD Plant 3D Catalog

16 Geometry Mapping Tab Define the AutoCAD Plant 3D Symbol for the New Class Define Properties from external Spec/Catalog to match AutoCAD Plant 3D Symbol Define the corresponding AutoCAD Plant 3D dimensional parameters for external Classes.

19 Defining Dimensional Parameters Dimensional Parameters are found on the bottom left hand side of the Mapping Settings dialogue box on the Geometry Mapping Tab. The Catalog Editor Provides dimensioned examples of components as well as a description of what the Parameters are for.

20 Defining Dimensional Parameters Methods for assigning parameters and their external equivalents: Create text files with all parameters defined. Copy and Paste them individually over to the Parameter Mapping section Type properties in one at a time Copy existing parameters defined for another component by copying and pasting inside the XML file.

21 Property Translation Tab Specify the external specs/catalogs predefined properties equivalent in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
