2 AP 209 ed2 Status The first edition of AP209 has been modularized and new capabilities added Built upon the full capabilities of AP203 ed2, now AP242 In addition to the AP209 ed1 classical finite element analysis, a STEP adaptation of CGNS computational fluid dynamics capability has been added that was built upon a new generic mesh based engineering analysis framework A discrete and continuous field representation based upon DT-NURBS capability was integrated with all types of analytical models The 19 new modules have been balloted and approved The AP209 ed2 DIS document is available Currently out for a Draft International Standard (DIS) ballot set to close in October 2013

8 Development and Review Involvement The participants in the development of AP209 ed2 over the last 12 years include: MSC.Software, EPM Technologies, LKSoft, eurostep, Theorem, CAESAR Systems Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Boeing (Commercial, Military, and Computer Systems), Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, Volvo Aero (EAR model), JPL, NASA, ESA, AIAA/NASA CGNS The EU GEM (Generic Engineering Analysis Model) project Many other members of ISO TC194/SC4/WG3/T9 Engineering Analysis The Composites structure and shape capabilities shared with AP203 ed2 and AP242 have been extensively reviewed, implemented and piloted in the LOTAR program LM Aero, BAE Systems, EADS, Airbus, Boeing Vistagy/FIberSim (in CATIA, Unigraphics, and Pro/E) and Dassault Systemes CATIA are implementing it
