Legal Information We recommend that you carefully read the information in this manual, in order to avoid operator errors. We have taken great care in developing and testing this program. Since it is currently not possible to guarantee error-free operation under all circumstances and at all times, we can unfortunately not entirely exclude that some errors may have crept in. Hence, MacroSystem Digital Video AG and its distributors do not guarantee a problem-free or completely error-free operation of the product. As far as reasonably possible, we will rework the program in order to correct any errors and provide the new software for free to the users concerned. Our liability for defects in material and/or workmanship for newly manufactured products is limited to 24 months. This is not the case when the law prescribes longer terms or in case of damage to life, body or health, in case of deliberate or gross negligence of duty by the supplier or intentional concealment of a flaw. The purchaser shall notify defects to the supplier without undue delay and in writing. Claims for reimbursement of expenses in connection with searching for defects will only be accepted after prior agreement with the management of MacroSystem Digital Video AG. Further claims by the purchaser on account of supplementary performance, including costs of transport, travel, labor and material are excluded. This is not applicable to claims for other reasons such as newly discovered software errors. Claims on the grounds of defects are excluded for minor deviations from the agreed quality, minor impairments in usability, normal wear and tear, or damage arising after the transfer of risk from faulty or negligent handling, excessive strain, unsuitable equipment, or from other particular external influences not assumed under the agreement. Claims based on defects attributable to improper modifications or repair work carried out by the purchaser or third parties and the consequences thereof shall be likewise excluded. We cannot accept any liability for loss of data/time or any consequential damages that may occur as a result, particularly since we have no influence over correct software installation and operation by the customer. MacroSystem Digital Video AG and its dealers therefore cannot be held liable for any defects or unintentional damage in connection with the installation or use of the program 3D Edit. Claims for damages and compensation, regardless of the legal basis, in particular due to breach of duties in connection with obligation or tortuous acts are also excluded. This shall not apply in the case of mandatory liability, e.g. under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), in the case of intent, gross negligence, injury of life, body or health, or breach of essential contractual obligations. The damage compensation entitlement for breach of essential contractual obligations is, however, limited to the foreseeable damage typical of the contract, unless there is willful intent or gross negligence or in case of injury to life, body or health. The provisions above do not imply a change of the burden of proof to the detriment of the purchaser. Neither MacroSystem Digital Video AG nor its dealers are responsible for any damages resulting either directly or indirectly through the use of the software or the operating instructions, e.g. for profit loss, costs, hardware or software problems or other problems. Any implied guarantee is excluded, including guarantee of suitability of the software or operating instructions for a particular purpose. For this reason, you should make a backup of your video footage before you start using the device. We recommend that you do not delete the video footage and that you create a backup copy on DV tape beforehand. Since it is possible that changes were made to the software after the manual was prepared, the functions shown and described in this manual might differ from the software. 2

2. The 3D Edit software 2.1 What is 3D Edit? We must first make a distinction between editable 3D footage and finished 3D scenes. The so-called side-by-side method is one standard format that can be used for editing. Bogart also uses this. In this method, two distinct images, one for the left eye and one for the right eye, are put side by side in one image. 3D scenes in side-by-side format (green 3D label) can also be used for calculating effects. Nearly all available effects, even those from older expansion packs, will separately calculate the views for both eyes, in order to maintain the 3D effect. The time needed for the calculations will be longer, of course. Finished 3D scenes in anaglyph format ("Red-Green", "Green-Magenta" etc.) can be created and managed, but such scenes can in principle no longer be edited. There are different possibilities to obtain 3D footage: 1. Ideally, you would use a 3D camera that records the footage in side-by-side format. This can then be imported as usual. Next, the type of these scenes must be set. Select the appropriate scene in Edit and click on Opt. In the Options window that now opens, 3D mode must be set to side-by-side. A small, green 3D will then appear after the Length indicator of the scene. 2. A 3D camera has been constructed by mounting two cameras side by side. The recorded scenes are imported separately. To the names of scenes, a letter L or R indicating the position of a camera should be added. This makes it possible later on to assign the footage correctly to the left or right eye and helps to avoid mixing up the images. The scenes that belong together must now be trimmed to make sure that they run synchronously and that they have the same length. The scenes must then be put next to each other in the storyboard, the left one to the left and the right one next to it to the right. The transition effect "3D combination" should then be applied to the entire length, the mode should be set to standard, and the effect calculated. The result of the calculation can then be used to create a scene with the Scene function. It will then be save in the Scene bin in the desired 3D format. 3. Importing finished footage from CD/DVD, USB or the MediaManager archive. As before, the appropriate 3D type must be selected in Editing/Options for this footage. 4. Creating 3D scenes from 2D footage. The transition or image processing effect "3D creation" can be used to transform normal scenes into 3D scenes. This is obviously not real 3D. Instead, it is an application of an optical illusion. Especially in the case of movements (swings...) an interesting 3D impression can nevertheless be obtained. These 3D scenes, and eventually the whole movie, must be watched using appropriate 3D glasses for spatial perception. These glasses are available in many different versions and shapes appropriate for the mode that you have chosen. For people who wear glasses, there are 3D glasses that can be put in front of their actual glasses. 5

3. Installing In order to install the 3D Edit software, you must have at least version 3.2a of Bogart SE. This software cannot be installed on devices with Smart Edit. Leave your system switched on and press the Install Product button in the System Settings menu to open the corresponding window. Insert the installation medium in the corresponding unit. A moment later (if you are installing from CD/DVD, you will probably hear noises from the CD/DVD unit while the CD/DVD is being read by the system), you will see that 3D Edit is listed in the Install Product window. Select it from the list and click on License to activate. After a short time, a numerical keypad will appear that you can use to enter the license code you purchased from your dealer. A message will then signal that the installation is completed. Should you want to install 3D Edit as a demo version, you should select it from the list and click on License. You should then click on the Demo button in the numerical code window. You will notice that the word Demo has appeared after the program name. You can make unlimited use of the effects in the demo version, but a demo logo will be added that labels it as such. 6

4. The effects We will now look at the individual effects D Make This effect is used to create a 3D scene, based on a normally recorded 2D scene. You can use this effect when the recording could not be made in 3D directly, but you still want to turn it into a 3D scene. The 3D effect will understandably not have the same quality as scenes made with correct 3D equipment. However, good 3D effects can certainly be created with moving scenes. For moving images, it is useful to delay the right image, while it is useful to magnify the right image for stationary images. A combination of both (preset: 5% zoom and 2 image delay) is a good compromise for variable material. Please take into account that setting both sliders to maximum does not usually result in a very strong 3D effect. Less is often more in this case. Our brain can only interpret this trick into meaningful images within narrow limits. Mode: Choose the mode that should be applied to your scene. Please refer to "Tips and explanations" for more information. Zoom: A value can be set between 0%-15%. The higher the value, the stronger the subimages will be different from each other. The effect will be stronger at higher values, but it will also be harder to handle by the viewer. This setting is appropriate for still images or scenes with little movement. Delay: The image for the right eye will be delayed in time with respect to the left one. The 3D effect can be really good for swings, but also generally for image content with strong movements. Here too, the length of the delay increases the intensity of the results. 7

4.2 3D Change The effect "3D Change" can be used to transform the 3D Edit format side-by-side into an anaglyph format. It is advisable to do this only at the very end of a production because it is virtually impossible to continue to work with such scenes. Mode: Choose the mode that should be applied to your scene. It is also possible to extract a single sub-image. To do this, choose the "only left" or "only right" mode. Please refer to "Tips and explanations" for more information. Swap sides: Swap the sub-images. This can be necessary both sub-images have been put together the wrong way. 8

4.3 3D Join Join the recordings of two cameras into one 3D scene. In order to do this, put the scene from the left camera in the storyboard first and then the scene from the right camera. Creating 3D footage from 2D footage exploits the ability of the human brain to use individual images to create a spatial impression. The left image remains unchanged, while the right one will be changed. It is necessary to mark the camera recordings in such a way that the recording from the right camera is clearly marked as right scene and that from the left camera as left scene. This way, it will be harder to swap both angles. It is therefore good practice to include "left" and "right" or corresponding abbreviations in the names of the scenes. Mode: Choose the mode that should be applied to your scene. Please refer to "Tips and explanations" for more information. 9

4.4 3D Picture in Picture The effect "3D Picture in Picture" is similar to the normal "Picture in Picture", except that it creates a genuine 3D scene in which the small picture is pushed to the front in space. Change Position, Size: Put the second scene on the first one. Any size and position can be chosen. Distance: By moving the scene in space, the position will be adjusted and a shadow added. Border: The inserted scene can be given a border. You can set the thickness of the border. Border Color: This is where you set the color for the border. Tip: When working in 2D, the small picture is often given a well-defined border. When working in 3D however, this should be done discreetly. Especially colorful borders can severely spoil the 3D impression when used in anaglyph mode. 10

5. Settings 5.1 System settings Use "Settings" to open the "User Interface" window. Select a display format using the 3D display button that will be used for 3D scenes in editing format (Standard or Side-by- Side). The chosen display format will then be used for trimming, splitting and other operations. This way one can, for example, immediately see the 3D effect using red-green glasses. Since this can be quite demanding, "left only" will usually be chosen. Playing will also be done in the 3D display that has been selected. Since the computing capacity needed for this is very high, even more so in HD projects, a smooth display may not be possible, depending on the device you are using. 2D scenes and scenes in anaglyph format are displayed "as is", without changes. 11

5.2 Editing options Use the menu point "3D Mode" in the Options of the Editing menu. Use this option to indicate the format in which the scene was recorded or made. If the scene is not in 3D, the mode will be set to 2D, which is also always the starting position. When you use the effects in 3D Edit to create a 3D scene, the type will automatically be set correctly and should not be changed here. Changing the mode is usually only required when 3D footage was directly recorded or imported. There is no identification in the video standards yet. This must be done manually. You can check the 3D type of a scene in the Info-insertions. To do this, click in the Editing menu on the "i" button. This will open the "Scene information" window. The information shown here now also contains the 3D-Type. If this is about a normal scene as before, it will display "2D". If the scene was recorded in 3D or had been processed by a 3D effect, this will say "side-by-side" or another corresponding mode. 12

3D scenes in side-by-side format (green 3D label) can also be used for calculating effects. Nearly all available effects, even those from older expansion packs, will separately calculate the views for both eyes, in order to maintain the 3D effect. The time needed for the calculations will be longer, of course. Effects cannot be calculated for 3D scenes in other formats (red 3D label). 13

6. Tips and explanations 6.1 Mode The different modes that you will be able to use are mentioned below. Please take into account that all modes will not be available for all effects, but will depend on the effect. Standard: The defined standard is identical to the "side-by-side" mode. Side-by-side: Known as Nebeneinander in the original German version. Over-under: Also known as top-bottom. The following are different types of anaglyph formats. Red-Green: If you want to use red-green 3D glasses, you must use this mode. Red-Cyan: If you want to use red-cyan 3D glasses, you must use this mode. Green-Magenta: If you want to use green-magenta 3D glasses, you must use this mode. Green-Magenta 2: This mode has slightly different color values for green and magenta. Yellow-Blue: If you want to use yellow-blue 3D glasses, you must use this mode. Yellow-Blue 2: This mode has slightly different color values for yellow and blue. If you need to extract one camera's view from 3D recordings, or 3D scenes in "side-byside" format, you can select these modes: Left only: Extraction of left image only. Right only: Extraction of right image only. 14

You should take into account to always use a single mode in a project because the viewer will no longer be able to perceive a 3D effect when the mode is changed. 6.2 How do we perceive 3D? When we move about in day-to-day life or in nature, we perceive spatial depth and use this to perceive and estimate distances. This is because we see with two eyes. People who can see with only one eye, are usually unable to perceive depth, unless the brain has been trained to do so. Our eyes always perceive an object from two, slightly different positions. This is very easy to ascertain when you close an eye. If, in such a case an object is hidden by another object and you swap the eye you are using, you will then have a different viewing angle through that eye, and may well be able to see the object that was previously hidden. In the case of 3D movies, this natural process must be simulated on a two-dimensional surface. This is accomplished by filming the same scene with two cameras. The cameras have to maintain a distance that is comparable to the distance between our eyes. The left camera will record the viewing angle for the left eye, while the right camera will record the camera for the right eye. This way, two recordings are obtained that are displayed simultaneously. In order to separate the images into an image for the left eye and one for the right eye of the viewer, the images are processed with colors or are displayed one after another, making it necessary to use corresponding 3D glasses. These have different properties for each eye, and as a result, the left eye sees only the image of the left camera, while the right eye sees only the image of the right camera. The human brain can combine these two separate images into a single three-dimensional image that leads us to perceive a spatial effect. These two separate images......will result in these combined images, depending on the settings. 15
