5 VERSION 15: WHAT S NEW p GENERAL 1.1. VECTORISATION OF IMAGES This feature converts an image into lines VECTORISE LINES Import an image that contains lines that need to be vectorised. Right-click the image, then select Vectorise lines. An example: Original image: Vectorised result: Lines are not lines, but pixels. The lines are real Pythagoras lines EDGES This method can be used when the image doesn t contain lines, but colorized areas. Right-click the image, then select Vectorise edge. ANNOTATIONS: MANHOLE POINTERS When selecting the annotation style pointer manhole broken, the placement of the text is automatically done like the examples above: the first line of text is placed above the horizontal line, the next lines of texts are placed below the horizontal line POSITIONING Range simple text annotations are drawn closer to the line when set bottom/inside CROSS SECTIONS The cross sections settings dialog is reworked. Each line in the list corresponds with a line in the resulting profile drawing. When having selected references, you can add them separately. The resulting drawing no longer contains curves, but regular lines.

7 VERSION 15: WHAT S NEW p SETTINGS It is now possible to save the profile settings for both along & perpendicular cross sections. In one Pythagoras session, the settings are stored MULTIPLE SECTIONS When selecting multiple paths, and starting the tool Cross section along path, multiple resulting drawings are created GRADIENT Cross section along path: gradient is shown INTERSECTIONS The intersection of line-references with a cross section along a path is shown with height and distance DRAWING TOOLS TRIM/EXTEND BASED ON SELECTION It is now possible to trim or extend multiple lines at once. Select the lines that need to be extended or trimmed. Select the tool Trim selected lines, or Extend selected lines in the drawing tools. Click on the line where the lines need to be extended to, or trimmed to. When trimming, click on the side where the lines need to remain DO NOT CHANGE HEIGHT When holding SHIFT while using the default trim/extend-tool changes., the height of the moved point no longer

8 VERSION 15: WHAT S NEW p EXTEND LINE When holding CTRL: the original point is kept EXTRAPOLATE Z When the new line snaps to the second line the Z value is not calculated based on the second line if ALT or CTRL are pressed. This applies to: Create parallel line Extend Line Trim/extend/align line SNAPPING TO POINTS Some tools (like extend line) previously didn t snap to points. They do now. This snapping to points is also applied to: Create parallel line Create perpendicular line Extend line Trim/extend/align line 1.6. DWG/DXF XREF When the DWG/DXF contains Xrefs (External References), an error message is displayed US FEET When exporting or importing, it is possible to choose US feet as unit IMAGES IN HYPERLINKS These are now exported to DXF WMTS WMTS is now also supported by Pythagoras. The settings for WMTS can be made in the same location as WMS: Settings Webservice manager. Examples of WMTS s for Belgium: NGI Cartoweb: topographic maps AGIV: GRB, orthographic pictures, ABW, and some other historical maps.

9 VERSION 15: WHAT S NEW p. 9 e=wmts&version=1.0.0 WMTS is usually hosted by governmental organisations. All information can usually be found on the webpages of such organisations. By entering WMTS nameoftheinformationyouseek in your favourite internet search robot, you will find more information about the WMTS LANDXML Export LandXML is now available. It can export the following types of objects: points: as CgPoints lines: as PlanFeature lines arcs: as PlanFeature arcs circles: as PlanFeature polylines curves: as PlanFeature polylines clothoids: as PlanFeature polylines polygons: as parcels It also exports terrain models as surfaces. The question is raised if you want to export all DTMs, the active DTM or skip DTMs. The resulting file can be validated with the validator tool available on landxml.org IMPORT SHAPE If there is not enough memory to import the complete SHP, it is still imported partially. It is also possible to define a Bounding Box HELP SYSTEM Each dialog now has a? : This leads directly to the HELP page of the dialog EDIT ATTRIBUTES RELATIVE EXTERNAL LINKS Relative external links are now also available:

11 VERSION 15: WHAT S NEW p CRS OSGB36 OS-GB36 is now supported (British Coordinate System). Go to Settings Preferences CRS and select OSGB36 in the list NEW CRS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM We can now easily add a new CRS that uses Tranverse Mercator, Lambert 1 and 2 projection systems by using an external XML-file. These XML-files use an unique formatting required for Pythagoras and are created by Pythagoras themselves. They are downloaded by the user when setting the CRS active in the Preferences-menu. The XML is based on the information provided by USER DEFAULTS The maximum number of user defaults is now RESIZABLE DIALOGS Dialogs can now be resized, for instance the layer manager VBA VBA EDITOR Add comment-block Uncomment block Improved find over all macro files: files don t have to be open POM Annotation objects can now be created via VBA via the CadObject class with the method CreateAnnotation. A HTML-Window can be created via VBA. Class: HTMLWindow TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENTS NEW FILE VERSION The file format is redesigned from zero. This results in: Lesser sensitivity for corruption: when having a sudden interrupt of the writing process (power problems/network problems) this doesn t result in a corrupted file. Forward compatibility: version 16 -files can be opened in Pythagoras V15

12 VERSION 15: WHAT S NEW p. 12 Backbard compatibility: older files that are opened in a more recent version, no longer need to be converted. For instance V15-files that are opened in V16, no longer need to be converted. The forward and backward compatibility issues will only begin to show its advantages as from version MULTITHREADING FOR POINTCLOUD RENDERING IN 3D WINDOW For reading the data and rendering data, a different thread is used. This results in a higher framerate when rendering pointclouds in the 3D window BIT Pythagoras is now available in both 32-bit and 64-bit LICENSING The licensing system is improved.

VECTORISATION VECTORISE SECTION Using section planes One of the two planes of the section plane is closest to the camera: the objects that lie in this plane, are vectorised. 14 VERSION 15: WHAT S NEW p CLASSIFICATION The LAS format can include classification information of the points: whether a point is on the ground, vegetation, water, a building, This classification information is now also imported into Pythagoras GROUND POINT CLASSIFICATION A new algorithm is implemented to classify the ground points of a point cloud. Right click on a pointcloud to access this feature. The identification of all ground points is time consuming. It processes every point of the point cloud and rewrites it into a new (or updated) ppc file. How it works A rough DTM of the lowest points of the pointcloud is calculated. Then every point of the pointcloud is compared with this DTM: is the difference in height below a certain factor, then it is considered a groundpoint. Is the difference in height greater than a certain factor, then it is considered to be not a groundpoint. In case classification information was already included in the pointcloud, only the ground classification is changed. The other classifications are left untouched COLORISATION Colorisation can now be done based on elevation, RGB-values, classification (if available).

DRAWING TOOLS Extra drawing tools in 3D window for parallel lines, perpendicular lines, cut objects, divide objects, extend line, trim/extend/project, create intersection point: 3.2. CLIPPING It is now possible to delete parts of a pointcloud, using any camera view WALKING This tool lets you walk through pointclouds on eye height SECTION PLANES It is now possible to save section planes. This is integrated in the Custom Camera s. When creating or editing a section plane, it is possible to define its width SECTION BOX This tool lets you define a section box SNAPPING It is now possible to snap to ½, ¼, of a line 3.7. VERTICAL LINES Improved feedback in the control panel for vertical lines 3.8. TAB When moving your cursor over lines, points, or polygons, the Control Panel shows different information when using the TAB button. For example, for lines it shows 3D-length, 2D-length, deltaz, Bearing, Slope percentage.

17 4. DTM VERSION 15: WHAT S NEW p REDUCTION It is now much simpler to reduce the number of points that needs to be used when calculating a DTM. This is especially useful when working with pointclouds RENDERING Rendering in 2D and 3D Window is improved. In the 2D-Window, when having a dense DTM, the triangles are no longer shown onscreen when zoomed out a lot. This results in a light green area: 4.3. BOUNDARY LINES When selecting the DTM menu Boundary lines, the boundary of the active DTM is created as lines on the active layer FROM - TO There is now also a to -column in the DTM colorizing dialog, making it more clear. The to -boundary is also shown in the legend.
