The reliability of toolpaths generated, appreciated by thousands of users around the world for many years, makes unattended or even lights out machining possible. The powerful automatic functions of WorkNC eliminate tedious, error prone operations associated with fully interactive CAD/CAM systems and the machinist can learn WorkNC in just a few days. With these translators engineering departments can import customers 3D CAD files easily. On larger parts and assemblies, only those parts required for machining need be imported, thereby making the engineering office more productive. 3 POWERFUL ANALYSIS FUNCTIONS FOR PREPARING QUOTES OR MACHINING No matter what the file type, the part can be worked on without conversion or stitching. Only a few minutes are needed to analyze undercuts, radii, flat surfaces, heights, dynamic cross sections, etc and to quickly validate feasibility. Machining preparation is also made easy by fast detection of minimum radius and undercuts.

3 COMPARING CAD GEOMETRIES It is not unusual for the final version of the part to be modified while tooling is being produced. Smart WorkNC-CAD functions allow IGES, STEP or native CAD files to be compared and any modifications in the different layers highlighted. Numerous and often costly errors are thus avoided. - Comparing two geometries, - Detection and automatic separation of differences. Automatic electrode generation: The WorkNC-CAD Electrode function enables electrodes to be manufactured more easily, quickly and reliably by automating a large number of repetitive and error prone operations. EFFICIENT, AUTOMATED "TRICKS OF THE TRADE" FOR MACHINING PREPARATION A HYBRID 3D SOLID AND SURFACE MODELER FOR EASY 3D MODEL REPAIRING AND PREPARATION 4 Automatic stamping die preparation: WorkNC automates as far as possible complex application specific functions such as automatic fillet undercutting on stamping dies. In numerous tests, preparation times on large tool assemblies were reduced from several hours to a matter of minutes. The integration of a hybrid 3D solid and surface kernel, combined with powerful WorkNC-CAD surface functions, provides users with further tools to improve their productivity. A myriad of advanced functions are included - 3D fillet joints, 3D parametric volume modeling and surface repair pushing back the limits of 3D model design and data prep for machining. 5 Retract calculations: With WorkNC-CAD it is easy to apply a constant or differential retract according to X, Y or Z axis. Creating parting surfaces: Parting surfaces are modeled using specific commands. WorkNC-CAD automatically searches for parting surfaces and draws the separation curves. These are used to cut the surfaces. Automatic press tool preparation: WorkNC automates as far as possible complex trade specific functions such as automatic fillet adjustment on die stamp tools. In numerous tests, preparation times on large tool assemblies were reduced from several hours to a matter of minutes. A new type of surface further broadens the scope of WorkNC-CAD: with Surface Morphing it is easy to fill in complex hole forms with just a few mouse clicks even if the contour of the hole is open. Since products often incorporate intricate shapes, WorkNC developers have created efficient repair functions for highly complex surfaces. Associative 2D drafting: Associative 2D drafting is WorkNC-CAD's complementary module for 2D design enabling 2D drawings of 3D parts - open or closed, surface or solid. This module benefits from an associative WorkNC-CAD database kernel which enables 2D drafts to be updated via a dynamic link to the 3D model. A number of user friendly, efficient ancillary functions are also available.

4 WORKNC AUTOMATIC 2 TO 5 AXIS CAM WorkNC is the closest system to "single button CAM" and comes with numerous automatic features. It takes the guess work out of cutter path generation because it is automatic - users just enter a few basic parameters and WorkNC takes care of the rest. WorkNC's efficient 2 to 5 axis strategies, combined with optimized, easy to run toolpaths, bring dramatic productivity gains. With its wide range of tools and features, WorkNC can quickly make your tooling cost prices more competitive. 3 AND 3+2 AXIS ROUGHING AND RE-ROUGHING Roughing and Re-roughing toolpaths are one of the cornerstones of WorkNC. They allow toolpath generation with reduced air cutting time, localized retracts and corner smoothing adapted for HSM. WorkNC automatically determines the areas where material has to be removed using its dynamic stock model management. Exceptional reliability and performance due to dynamic stock management and WorkNC's ability to machine and re-machine in 3+2 axis mode, Reduced machining times as a result of continually improved and innovative toolpaths (reducing air cutting time). WorkNC's re-machining toolpaths enable automatic rest material machining with increasingly smaller tools, Dynamic stock model management makes machining even more reliable by taking into account the cutting tool and the tool holder to dynamically update the roughing toolpath and eliminate collisions for any tool length. The efficiency of re-roughing strategies is constantly improved and WorkNC has the ability to machine undercut areas using 3+2 axis strategies. The 3D stock model is systematically updated allowing successive re-roughing toolpaths to be run with progressively smaller tools. WorkNC includes a wide range of roughing toolpaths ensuring smooth motions and cutting conditions which are automatically optimized by customizable knowledge-based rules. This all comes together to ensure that WorkNC delivers high performance machining as well as long tool and machine service life. 6 Improved quality of the part s finishing. Machining strategies and toolpaths, from the simplest to the most complex, can be redefined in a few clicks of the mouse, Exceptional toolpath reliability (traditional and HSM) acclaimed by WorkNC users. A wide range of roughing strategies to suit numerous requirements: - High torque roughing and re-roughing (multi-purpose roughing), - Adaptive trochoidal roughing (for hard materials and high volume removal), - High volume roughing (plunge roughing - hard materials), - Spiral core roughing (for machining islands and from the exterior - Flat surface roughing and re-roughing, towards the center of a part), - High feed roughing (HSM), - Hard material roughing, High torque roughing / re-roughing : Optimized multi-purpose roughing toolpath offering optimal cutting conditions. The fluidity of this toolpath considerably reduces machining times and is well adapted for high speed machining without sudden directional changes. 7 Heck & Becker Dynamic stock model management MÜLLER Modell- und Formenbau GmbH & Co. 5 2-AXIS MACHINING / AUTOMATIC DRILLING 3 AND 3+2 AXIS FINISHING AND RE-MACHINING A wide range of finishing strategies is available providing the best solution to all semi-finishing, finishing and re-machining job requirements. Easy to implement, WorkNC automatically generates finishing toolpaths according to initial parameters. Customizable knowledge-based rules acquisition enables automatic parameter insertion and optimizes cutting conditions for each strategy. WorkNC includes a number of useful parameters (tangency extension, precision between points, tolerance, ) which allow users to fine tune the quality of finishing toolpaths according to their needs. Rest material re-machining strategies are both powerful and efficient. They automatically detect areas where rest material remains and therefore limit unnecessary tool movements resulting in reduced machining times. Z-level Finishing : This toolpath is especially adapted for machining parts with steep walls which are automatically detected. Improved quality is ensured for high speed machining due to a fluid motion and radial lead-ins and stepovers. 2-AXIS MACHINING WorkNC's 2-axis and 2½-axis strategies are specifically designed for fast machining of support plates and assembly parts. Machining preparation can be carried out on 2D or 3D models created with WorkNC-CAD or imported from another system using one of the translators. 3D models can be machined automatically. Roughing and re-roughing are used to machine pockets, and then flat surface machining and drilling functions are used for the rest. Numerous WorkNC 2D curve machining functions are available for machining directly from independent 2D entities or curves extracted from 3D models. WorkNC curve machining strategies bring significant productivity gains as they are highly tolerant and can be successfully used on damaged and intersecting 2D geometries. Kegelmann Technik 8 All finishing toolpaths are optimized to ensure the highest level of performance when using high speed machining techniques (corner smoothing, helicoidal approaches, Z level changes and island machining, ). A range of finishing strategies adapted to all requirements: - Finishing / optimization / Z-level re-machining, - Finishing / optimization / planar re-machining, - Variable step finishing, - Between 2 curves and 3D drive curve finishing, - Contour re-machining, - Pencil trace and parallel pencil trace, - Specific finishing toolpaths: High to low and Low to high, 2D drive curve, Spiral/radial, Edge, Along curve, Keyways, Thin wall. Planar Finishing : Multi-purpose finishing toolpath which can be used on a wide variety of parts and materials and also allows tangency extensions. Variable step finishing: The stepover value is automatically adapted to ensure a uniform surface finish even on parts with complex geometry. 2D machining strategies: - Tangent to curve, - Curve re-machining, - On curve (engraving), - Pocketing, - Rib machining, - Facing, - Drilling, tapping and point drilling. AUTOMATIC DRILLING Automatic plate or 3D part drilling is based on automatic feature recognition performed by WorkNC-CAD. The features are then automatically processed using customized, pre-determined drilling sequences. 6 AUTOMATIC 5-AXIS MACHINING AND TRADE TOOLPATHS 10 The WorkNC 5-axis module is above all easy to use and is well suited to the needs of mold, tool and die makers as well as those of a number of other industries including aerospace and automobile. Parts with both deep cavities and relatively flat shallow areas can be machined using the automatic 5-axis machining functions of 'AUTO-5'. This module automatically converts 3- axis toolpaths into 5-axis toolpaths improving both surface finish quality and tool service life through the use of shorter tools. These intelligent toolpaths are automatically and dynamically controlled to eliminate any risk of collision and to manage machine rotation limits. The wide variety of simultaneous 5-axis machining strategies are easy to implement and provide a high performance solution for all common requirements including trimming, pocketing and planar machining, as well as specific needs such as laser cutting, blades, tubes and impellers. In addition, from the moment toolpath calculations are run, WorkNC takes into account the cutting tool, the 5-axis machine kinematics and machining head. WorkNC's VisuNC displays these in 3D and realistic simulations can be run. Simultaneous 5-axis strategies: - Rolling, - Planar finishing, - Pocketing, - Blade machining, - Laser cutting, - Tube machining, - Impeller machining, - 3D curve machining, - Groove machining, - Drilling WorkNC Auto 5: Forget about complicated 5-axis programming! With WorkNC Auto 5, 3-axis toolpaths are automatically converted into 5-axis toolpaths. The conversion automatically takes into account tool and machine specifications resulting in reliable toolpaths. SMART FUNCTIONS MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE Automatic workshop documentation: WorkNC comes with a powerful function which, with just a few mouse clicks, automatically generates a complete set of technical data sheets with associated pictures for a given sequence of toolpaths. This documentation can also be customized interactively so that only selected information appears. In addition, several different documentation templates are available for use on the same sequence. Tool and tool holder libraries: WorkNC includes a tool library in which technical data for commonly used tools can be stored,its open structure also enabling import of data from manufacturers' own libraries. The library allows users to associate cutting and machining strategy parameters (tolerance, stepover, Z step,.) to each cutting tool. Then, when a user selects a tool, all the parameters are automatically transferred to the toolpath menu ready for calculation, dramatically reducing time spent on data preparation. 11 WorkNC 5 axis : 5-axis machining made easy! Unrivalled ease of use. WorkNC 5-axis toolpaths are every bit as reliable as WorkNC's 3-axis toolpaths. Automatic collision management by systematic resetting of machine limits. Fluid toolpaths avoiding abrupt movements and ensuring the smoothest of trajectories. Tool holders can also be created using the library's integrated editor and the library also allows users to associate a tool holder to a selected tool. Standard machining sequences (batch mode): Simultaneous 5-axis : WorkNC's simultaneous 5-axis toolpaths have been specially designed and tested to increase productivity and push back the limits of machining deep cavities, turbines and complex geometries with undercuts.
