Its original properties associated to its flexibility of use make it an exceptionnal material. Despite its traditional design, expanded metal displays its modernity thanks to the great variety of applications that take advantage of its many qualities. The process of manufacturing expanded metal confers new properties to the initial metal sheet. By its very structure, it shows an increased rigidity that enables the reduction and simplification of framings, an exceptional transparency, which filters light and sound while always ensuring an excellent protection. Because it is made out of only one part, it cannot come apart, and its surface is always homogenous. These two aspects allow the expanded metal to resist particularly heavy loads. The production methods that have been implemented make it possible to manufacture expanded metal in a very large variety of shapes and dimensions. It is this diversity that makes it so attractive for many fields. Steel, stainless and aluminium are the most frequently expanded metals. Thanks to its design, the expanded metal brings an additional dimension to these materials. Depending on the sight angle, the transparency varies. This property is well appreciated in architecture to create and design, and in aerodynamics to deviate flows or to reduce turbulences. 5
