2 2 ASIFA-South MISSION ASIFA-SOUTH is a 501c3 not-for-profit association that seeks to promote the art form of animation through exposure for artists, diversity and Inclusion, entrepreneurial development for animators, and support of STEAM education. We constantly strive to recruit fellow lovers of the craft to share knowledge, passion, and create awareness.

4 4 ASIFA-South HISTORY The oldest and largest animation organization in the world, ASIFA- SOUTH is the only chapter in the Southeast. Association Internationale du Film d Animation, or ASIFA, was started in France in 1960 as a membership organization for animation artists and now has over 50 chapters around the world. ASIFA-Atlanta, started in 1995, and for over 2 decades has offered animation screenings and educational programs. As the only chapter in the South it was decided that the Atlanta chapter had a mission to the rest of the South and as of 2016 rebranded as ASIFA-SOUTH. Now, ASIFA-SOUTH offers regular programming throughout the year to the entire Southern region of the USA.

5 ASIFA-South 5 SCREENINGS ANNUAL SHOWCASE INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION DAY (IAD) BIG SCREEN MISSION As a local showcase, we have expanded this year to have our first ASIFA-SOUTH Animation Conference and Festival. Originally a one block screening showcase dedicated to animation made in the South, we have expanded to meet the demands of having a professional animation conference that will hopefully be the gathering of creative minds in the South. With our community partners and sponsors, this year s 3 day conference and festival will include a variety of selected panels and screening hosted at Plaza Theater and SCADSHOW. Started in 2002, IAD is an annual event that celebrates the art form of animation throughout the world! Every Oct 28, ASIFA-SOUTH participates in the film exchange program with fellow chapters, to promote diversity in animation. Last year, in addition to our Atlanta location, we were able to have an extended showcase with screening venues in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Savannah, featuring our curated selection of animation from our annual animation showcase. Our films have been played by ASIFA- Central, Australia, and China. In support of the ASIFA-SOUTH s mission to encourage diversity and inclusion, we began an annual tradition of giving kids a chance to watch good content on the big screen that supports this belief. Last year, we worked with HOMESTRETCH, Drake House, and the North Fulton Communities Charity to bring 100+ kids to watch ZOOTOPIA on the big screen.

6 6 ASIFA-South This year marks the 22nd anniversary of ASIFA-South (formerly ASIFA-Atlanta). Starting out as a showcase, over the past 15 years the RYO showcase has expanded. Starting this year, it has grown into a three-day long conference and festival, held at SCADShow & Plaza Theater, which will include screenings and panels. The aim of this event us have animators to tell us their stories. Screenings: Southern Spotlight Showcase: A showcase filled with animated shorts from students, independent animators and professionals in the south US. Only shorts made in the South US region qualifies for this program. Includes Maryland. Saturday Morning Kid Friendly Block: These are entries that can be enjoyed by families and kids of a young age. International Block: For our animator friends across borders, oceans, continents, enter your shorts for this block. Educational panels will include discussion on pitching original animated series, the entertainment industry in Georgia, business basics of animation, and more! This event is one of the biggest undertaking we have ever made. This event will be the highlight of our ongoing efforts to support the community, and is only possible by the support of our partners. Be a part of one of the major animation events in the southeast by getting involved with this initiative.

7 ASIFA-South 7 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Networking Events/ Monthly Mixers STEAM Animation Education Entrepreneurial Classes & Panels Online Webinars ASIFA-SOUTH holds a monthly mixer the last Wednesday of every month at Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Company. Event is free and open to the public, including industry professionals, students, and art lovers. Each mixer includes an activity, such as trivia, portfolio review, and guest speakers to promote engagement. With the help of our partners, ASIFA- SOUTH S animation education program brings free workshops to classrooms and community organizations, that are tailored to all ages. We are focused on enhancing STEAM education (Science/Technology/ Education/Math+Art/Design) within the community. We believe in providing resources to help professionals improve their skillsets. Such programs have included the Business Basics Panel for Creatives: a 5 part masterclass panel by ASIFA-SOUTH & Morin Entertainment Law that focused on the crucial business concepts artists need to protect their work and defend them from exploitation. Our online panel series gives us the ability to connect our memberbase with talented animators from around the world. Past panels have included Samuel Alicea, Lead senior cinematic surfacing artist at BLIZZARD; Tim Kallok, character animator at SONY PICTURES IMAGEWORK; and Kevin Ridgeway, animator at BARDEL with credits on Puss in Boots animated series on Netflix.
