1 Opticom Central Management Software 2.2 Service Pack 1 Release Notes September, 2011 What's New in Opticom Central Management Software 2.2, Service Pack 1 Corrected an issue where active monitoring of Opticom-equipped intersections would unintentionally stop. Improved communications processing such that intermittent, short-duration network disruptions are no longer reported as errors. This change eliminates spurious error reports and alerts for benign communications issues that do not impact CMS functionality. What's New in Opticom Central Management Software 2.2 When the CMS installer is used to update a client workstation, the installer now reuses the CMS server information previously entered. This eliminates the need to reenter this information each time a client workstation is upgraded to a new CMS version. Corrected an issue where communication with 762/764 phase selectors was occasionally disrupted with the message the response from the device was invalid. Corrected an issue where the inactive intersection report included channels C and D for a 2- channel 762 phase selector. Added the capability to remotely reboot a phase selector via software so that the device can be restarted without needing to physically cycle power (applies to Model 762, 764, and 1000 phase selectors). None noted Installation Notes This section lists special instructions and consideration for this release. See the User Guide for general installation instructions and system requirements. An upgrade install will require a CMS server reboot following the installation. To avoid the reboot, use Add / Remove Programs to uninstall the previous version, then install the new version. Central management software requires these versions of firmware to be installed in configured phase selectors: Opticom Model 1000 GPS Phase Selector: Phase selector firmware or higher (02.00 recommended) Radio firmware or higher (01.00 recommended) The recommended firmware files are available in Opticom Firmware Package version 2.2 (or later), which must be installed on your central management software server and any client workstations from which firmware updates will be initiated. The Firmware Package is available for download from the GTT website: GTT recommends that you apply all critical patches from Microsoft both prior to and after installing central management software. If a firewall is used on your server, you may need to acknowledge warning messages from the firewall when it detects that the GTT Communications Service and GTT Scheduling Service versions have changed. This applies to the GTT Communications Service if you are using TCP/IP for communication with phase selectors, and to the GTT Scheduling Service if you have jobs configured to send . GTT recommends executing manual operations following the install to force the warning message so that it can be acknowledged. This way, subsequent jobs will run successfully. To ensure that the GTT Communications Service can communicate with your phase selectors, perform a Read From Device on one of your phase selectors. 3 When installing on Windows Server 2008, you may receive this error message: You must use the Role Management Tool to install or configure Microsoft.NET Framework. Do you want to install it? Central management software uses Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5, and on this operating system Microsoft requires that it be installed through their Role Management tool. Note that this might require a reboot of the server. 1. Answer No to the Do you want to install it? message box and cancel the central management software installation. 2. On the desktop or in Windows Explorer, right-click My Computer and select Manage. 3. Select the Features node, then Add Features. 4. In the Add Features Wizard, expand.net Framework Features, then check.net Framework Select Next, then Install. 6. Once the installation has completed, select Close. 7. Restart the installation of central management software. Database contents are automatically upgraded to be compatible with the new product version. Installation Instructions Follow these steps to upgrade from CMS 2.1 to CMS 2.2 Service Pack 1, or from CMS 2.2 to CMS 2.2 Service Pack 1. If performing a new installation, please refer to the installation and setup instructions in the CMS User Guide. Please contact technical support ( , extension 3) if you have questions with the upgrade installation or if you are currently running a version of CMS earlier than 2.1. Upgrading the CMS Server: 1. IMPORTANT: Be sure to back up the SQL Server database used by CMS. This database is named OpticomManagement. Contact technical support if you require assistance backing up your database. 2. 4 3. Run the CMS set up program (OpticomCentralMgmtSetup.exe) from the CMS installer download and walk through the installation wizard screens. a. On the Select Components screen, select Server Installation. b. The final screen in the wizard will indicate that the upgrade installation was successful or will indicate any issues that were encountered. Upgrading client workstations: 1. To avoid needing to reenter the CMS server information, DO NOT use Add / Remove Programs to uninstall the previous version of CMS. The next step will first capture the CMS server information, then automatically uninstall the previous version, and finally install the new version. 2. Run the set up program (OpticomCentralMgmtSetup.exe) from the installer download and walk through the installation wizard screens. a. On the Select Components screen, select Client Installation. b. The screen which shows the CMS server information (server name and SQL Server instance name) will be filled in with the information from the previous version. You only need to modify this information if you ve made changes to the CMS server name or the SQL Server instance name. c.
