2 About the BlackBerry Enterprise Server The BlackBerry Enterprise Server helps system administrators centralize administration and control of mobile . Service Pack 5 update information The following issues are fixed in this Service Pack: Addressing issues no longer occur when using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with a Domino simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP) mail transfer agent (MTA). The BlackBerry Enterprise Server no longer stops responding due to an unexpected addressing format. BlackBerry Enterprise Server CPU no longer continues to display an invalid reading of 100% when network conditions are poor and the mail file is unavailable for an extended period of time. The BlackBerry Server Manager import function no longer fails to import a complete list of users when it encounters a user with an invalid PIN. The import function now skips users with an invalid PIN and continues to import all users on the list who have valid PINs. Previously, some BlackBerry 5810 Series Wireless Handhelds would reset occasionally when removed from the cradle while connected to the BlackBerry Server Manager. 3 System requirements The BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino Software requires the following hardware and software components: Hardware Intel-compatible Pentium 2 or higher (233 MHz or higher, 128-MB RAM) 1 GB of free hard disk space 10-Mbps LAN connection Software The BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server utilities require the following software on the computer on which they are installed: Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 or later Lotus Domino Server and Client, 4.6 or later Note: The BlackBerry Enterprise Server must be installed in the same Lotus Notes Named Network and Domino Domain as the Lotus Domino mail servers to be supported. Your corporate firewall must be able to resolve Internet addresses using the Domain Name Server (DNS). Firewall configuration The BlackBerry Enterprise Server initiates outbound, bidirectional connections to the wireless network. To support BlackBerry in an environment with a firewall in place, you must configure the firewall to allow the computers running the BlackBerry Enterprise Server within the company to initiate TCP/IP connections to an outside server listening on port If you use a proxying firewall, the proxy must be transparent Note: A transparent proxy does NOT modify requests or responses through the proxy during proxy authentication and identification, whereas a non-transparent proxy (where the client specifies the hostname and port number of the proxy) IS used to modify requests or responses through the proxy. If you have a non-transparent proxy, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server can be configured to access an internal proxy address which is then translated externally to the SRP Host on port Please ensure that your firewall is configured to accommodate these types of outbound-initiated connections bidirectionally. 4 Installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software (includes Service Pack 5) If you have not already installed BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software, follow these steps to install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino. Note: To upgrade the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software, refer to Upgrading existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server installations to Service Pack 5 on page 6 To remove the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software, refer to Removing BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software on page 8. Installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software installs the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and its associated administrative tools. Install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software on the Lotus Domino Server that acts as the gateway to the wireless network. To install BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software 1. Download the service pack software to the computer that will run the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. 2. In the location that you specified during the download, open setup.exe to start the installation. A Welcome screen appears. 3. Click Next. The Select Your Country screen appears. 4. Select the country in which you purchased your license for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software, and then click Next. The License Agreement screen appears. 5. Read the license agreement carefully; if you agree to its terms, click Yes. Failure to accept the agreement will result in the termination of the installation program. The Choose Setup Type screen appears. 6. To install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, select BlackBerry Server and Utilities. This option installs the BlackBerry Enterprise Server task and the administrator interface. If you are installing a BlackBerry Enterprise Server Administration Console, select BlackBerry Utilities Only. This option installs only the administrator interface. Click Next to continue. The first BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino Setup screen appears. Note: If you want to manage the BlackBerry Enterprise Server from another machine, (running Windows NT with SP3 or higher, or Windows 2000), install the BlackBerry Utilities on that machine as well as on the current machine. 7. In the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino Setup screen labelled System Attendant, in the System Attendant field, type the address of the System Administrator. 5 8. Click Next to continue. The second BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino Setup screen appears. 9. In the Connection to SRP section, type the following values: In the Host Name field, type the SRP Address (also referred to as SRP Host) provided with your SRP Information. The SRP Host connects to the wireless network. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server can be located anywhere on the LAN and route its TCP/IP traffic through the firewall or through a transparent proxy server. Note: A transparent proxy does NOT modify requests or responses through the proxy during proxy authentication and identification, whereas a non-transparent proxy (where the client specifies the hostname and port number of the proxy) IS used to modify requests or responses through the proxy. 6 In the Port field, the SRP Port, configured during the firewall configuration process, is set to 3101, and is typically not changed. This is an outbound-initiated connection. 10. During your initial installation, click Test Connection. The setup program will perform a test to ensure that the server can connect to your SRP Host. If the test is successful, messages will confirm your connection. From the DOS prompt, press Enter to continue. Click OK to close the message and continue the installation. If the test is not successful, you will see an error message. Note the error code, and press Enter. Click OK in the dialog box to close the error message. Note: If the SRP test is not successful, you must stop the installation and correct the reason for the failure before you can restart the installation. Refer to Resolving connection errors on page 6 for a list of common errors and suggestions for resolving them. 11. In the SRP Authentication section, type the SRP Identifier and Authentication Key found on the installation CD label. These values are unique to each host license. Each BlackBerry Enterprise Server requires a unique SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key. Tip: To simplify installations, upgrades, and reinstallations, create a.txt file that contains your authentication key. You can use this.txt file to copy the key and paste it into the Authentication Key field. Keep this file in a secure directory. 12. Click Next. The Choose Destination Location screen appears. 13. Ensure that the destination path is correct and click Next. Note: The default path for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\ 14. On the Select Program Folder dialog box, verify that the correct folder is selected and click Next to complete the installation. When the installation is complete, a confirmation window appears. 15. Click Finish. Upgrading existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server installations to Service Pack 5 Upgrading the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software also upgrades the administrative utilities installed on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server computer. When you upgrade BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software, you should also upgrade the BESAdmin and BESAlert software on any computers used for remote BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration. 6 BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino Readme

Removing BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software 1. To shut down the Lotus Domino Server, in the Lotus Domino Server console, type quit 2. To remove the Blackberry Enterprise Server, on the Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. An Add/Remove window appears. 3. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties window, select BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Lotus Domino and click Add/Remove (Windows NT) or Change/Remove (Windows 2000). A Confirm File Deletion dialog box appears. 4. Click OK to remove the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software. A confirmation window appears when all programs have been successfully removed. 5. Click Finish. Note: Removing the application does not remove the user configuration and message queue databases. If you want to remove these items as well, they are located in the BES folder in the Lotus Domino Server data directory. 9 BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software and additional tools The BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software includes the following components: nbes.exe: the Lotus Domino Server add-in task that redirects from the user's Lotus Notes mailbox to the BlackBerry handheld BESMonitor.exe: the program that shows the current status of any BlackBerry Enterprise Server BESAdmin.exe: the program that enables administrators to manage users on any BlackBerry Enterprise Server BESAlert.exe: the program that monitors the Windows NT Event Log and can be configured to send notification to defined users when specified event levels are logged policy.inf: can be used to change the default settings for users' desktop software ITPolicy.exe: used in conjunction with the policy.inf file to generate a scrambled policy.bin file that is used to configure users' desktop software default settings Command line utility BBSRPTest.exe: tests the SRP connection to the wireless network SRP authentication values The following values are provided with your SRP Authentication Information: SRP Address: used to establish the outbound connection to the wireless network SRP Identifier: uniquely identifies the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to the wireless network SRP Authentication Key: used, with the SRP Identifier, to authenticate outbound connectivity Note: This document is provided for informational purposes only, and does not constitute a binding legal document.
