3 Drafted into the United States Army on July 10, 1945 After completing his training he was discharged January 28, 1946 The next day he re-enlisted into the U.S. Army Signal Corps as a photographer Bayless assignment was to photograph and document the trials of I.G. Farben (Trial No. 6)

6 Received an honorable discharge and settled in the City of Elkhart Commercial photographer in the RV advertising business

7 The collection includes 5 boxes of photographs and documents and several boxes of objects: Black & white photographs Personal correspondence Camera and equipment used during trial Uniform regalia Collection guide

9 This second group of defendants was brought before the United States Nuremberg Military Tribunals in a series of 12 trials Trial or Case No. 6 I.G. Farben Case

10 The indictment accuses these men of major responsibility for visiting upon mankind the most searing and catastrophic war in human history.

11 I.G. FARBEN CASE Aug. 27, 1947 to Jul. 30, 1948 I.G. Farben was a German chemical industry conglomerate Largest chemical company in the world, as well as 4 th largest overall industrial concern, during its heyday Library of Congress

12 Guards, wearing new summer uniforms for the first time, check passes at the U.S. Military Tribunal at Nurnberg, Germany, of every individual entering.

13 Captain Samuel Binder demonstrates how the cells of the Nurnberg prison are lighted from the outside. To help in the prevention of suicide no lights are installed in the cells.

22 Bayless also documented what was referred to as the Negro Problem Mr. Marcus Ray, Consultant to the General visited Nuremberg, Germany to assess conditions of Negro services clubs.

23 "American cars are now being sold on a lottery basis through a Theater wide lottery hold once or twice a month with about one hundred and fifty cars on each lottery. These cars sell a little bit cheaper than they do in the states.
