3 1. Overview This Paper intends to help you use/operate Hikvision devices with Milestone software. The supported functions are as follows: Live View, Playback, Event, Record, PTZ control, Motion detection, Audio, Alarm Feature HikVision Driver Onvif Discover Video Streaming Video Configuration - Attribute (Brightness, contrast, etc.) Video Configuration - Quality (resolution, framerate, etc.) Video Configuration - CBR/VBR X Video Configuration - Codec Motion Detection Audio Input Audio Output PTZ Control Network - Reboot Unit X X Network - Unit IP Settings Network - Web Access I/O - Input I/O - Output Events - Camera Tampering Events - Smart Event X Dewarping X X Note: 1. The Edge Recording/SD card is only supported by XProtect Expert and XProtect Corporate. 2. When PTZ cameras use Onvif driver, need to add the PTZ control manually and easy to lose connection between Milestone and PTZ cameras. 3. Smart Event s configuration is via Hikvision camera s web browser (Put the Camera s IP address in the Web Browser), not in the Milestone. You can visit Milestone s official website to find the supported hardware integration list: Note: The Hikvision cameras firmware show in the Milestone is baseline. 1.1 About Milestone Milestone is a software manufacturer of open platform IP video surveillance software, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. 6 Feature Description Add the hardware to your system. It has two different ways to add the device: Manually specify the hardware to add and scan the network to add. Quick start to configure video storage and camera setting Configure the motion detection Add a new user account Feature Description Collapse all nodes in navigation page. 7 Figure 3. Main Page 1. Tabs: The Live tab for view live video. The Playback tab for viewing recorded video. The Sequence Explorer tab for navigating video sequences and bookmarks. The Alarm Manager tab for investigating incidents and alarms. 2. Application buttons: Feature Description Toggle Theme: switch the theme to black or white Status: go to Status window Help: go to help window Options: go to the options window, configure XProtect Smart Client setting. Log out: log out of the client 3. Task button: (Which task button shows on the window, depends on which Tab you selected.) Setup button: enter setup mode. Export button: export video. Toggle full screen button: click to switch the window to full screen or smaller one. 4. View: The milestone supports up 100 cameras and different groups which customer defined. 5. Panes: Panes give you access to the majority of the XProtect Smart Client features. The panes you see depend on your XProtect Smart Client configuration and on your task. 6 P a g e

8 3. Basic Functions 3.1 Adding and removing cameras Adding the cameras In the Management Application: Go to getting started page, click the add hardware button. The add hardware box shows up. There are two ways to add new hardware. Figure 4. Adding the Cameras Scan for hardware Click the Scan for hardware button, the system will scan the local network. If you know the IP address for the device or the range of IP address, click button. Then Click the Next. The manufactures box shows up, you can pick the one manufacture from the manufacture list, or you can select All manufactures. Then click the Next button. All the devices will show up. 7 P a g e

10 Figure 7. Camera List 1. This part is hardware device driver. If you use the scan automatically, you cannot modify the driver here. If you want to modify the driver, please use manually specify the hardware to add function, or use the replace hardware device function after finishing adding hardware. 2. Please type the username and password here. 3. After typing the username and password, click the Go button. 4. If hardware connects successfully, the box behind the device driver will be marked. If you don t want to add this device, please do not mark the box. 5. Then click Next Manually specify the hardware to add Click the Manually specify the hardware to add. Figure 8. 11 1. Please enter the IP address, port, username, and password here. 2. Then choose the correct driver for your device, if you don t know the driver, please choose the Autodetect. If you choose the incorrect driver, it will show Unable to connect in the status. 3. Click Next. NOTE: Hikvision Driver in the Milestone: 1. Hikvision DS2Dx1: for the Hikvision s PTZ camera. 2. HikVision DS-6601Hxl/-SATA, HikVision DS-6701Hxl/-SATA, HikVision DS-6704Hxl/-SATA, HikVision DS- 6708Hxl/-SATA, HikVision DS-6716Hxl/-SATA: for the Hikvision s encoder. 3. HikVision71x3: for the old Hikvision s IP camera. 4. HikVision8x3: for the Hikvision s IP camera. 5. HikVisionFisheye: for the Hikvision s fisheye camera Delete the cameras Select the hardware device and right-click it. Choose the Delete Hardware Device. Then confirm box shows up, click Delete button. Figure 9. Delete Hardware Devices 3.2 Event Before you specify input for a hardware device, please go to the Web Browser. Enter the camera s IP address to configure the smart event. Please make sure the Enable check box and Notify the Surveillance Center check box is marked. And configure the arming schedule. 10 P a g e

14 3. You can modify the name of the event here. 4. If you mark Send if this event occurs or sent SMS if this event occurs, the Get data from will be available. You can pick one camera from the list. 5. Click OK to save all. 3.3 Alarm In the Management Application: Expand Alarms, right click Alarm Definitions, and select Create New. Figure 14. 15 2. In the Select Sources window, expand Server, then expand All inputs (server), then you can find the hardware device which has the event. 3. Click the event, and then click the Add button. 4. Click OK button, it will go back to Alarm Definition Window. 5. In the Other, you can choose the Related cameras. 6. Click OK button. In the Client Application: In the Alarm Manager, you can find all the alarm information. Note: If you want to listen to the different events at the same time, please use the different alarms. 17 Figure 19. Recording Properties 1. Choose Recording Properties. 2. There are 3 different kinds of record settings: Always, Never, Conditionally 3. Conditionally can be divided into 3 types: Motion detection, Event, Motion detection and Event. 4. Choose the Event here. 5. Put pre-recording and post-recording time. 6 Then click OK to save. Always Record when the camera is enable and online Never Never record, but the live video is still working. Conditionally Motion detection Record the video when motion is detection. Recording will stop depend on the post-recording setting. Event Record video when an event occurs and until another event occurs. Motion detection & Event Use of recording on event requires that events have been defined. Record video when motion is detected, or when an event occurs. 3.5 PTZ In the Management Application: Select the camera and right-click it. Choose the Properties. The Camera Properties box shows up. 16 P a g e

18 Figure 20. PTZ Preset Positions 1. Choose PTZ Preset Positions. 2. The navigation button. Button Description Move the PTZ camera to arrow s direction. Move the PTZ camera to the default position. Zoom in/out 3. In the PTZ Preview, use the sliders to move the PTZ camera. The X-axis is for panning left/right, the Y- axis is for tilting up/down, and the Z-axis is for zooming in/out. 4. Choose the PTZ type. Name Type 1 (stored on server) Type 2 (imported from camera) Description Define preset position by using the navigation button or drag the sliders. The entire preset position store on the server. The maximum number of the preset position, which the server supports, is 50. You can import preset positions which defined and stored on the PTZ camera itself through the camera s own configuration interface. The number 17 P a g e

19 of allowed preset positions depends on the driver. Type 3 (stored on camera) Define preset positions by using the navigation button or drag the sliders. The preset position stores on the camera. The maximum number of preset position is 50. * The Import / Refresh button only are available in PTZ type 2 or Only available in PTZ type 1, type the preset position. 6. Only available in PTZ type 1, click Add New to add the new preset position. 7. Show all the preset position in the box. And double click the select the name of the PTZ preset positions, you can modify the name. 8. Choose one of the preset positions, then click Set New Position button, the current position will overwrite the old position. Click Delete button, delete the selected preset position. Only available in PTZ type 1 or Click Test button, test the selected preset positions. 10. Click OK, save the configuration. 3.6 Motion Detection In the Management Application: Select the camera and right-click it. Choose the Properties. The Camera Properties box shows up. Figure 21. 20 1. Click Motion Detection 2. Select the Enable check box, allow the motion detection. 3. In the preview video, use the left/right mouse buttons to exclude/include regions. 4. Select the Show grid check box, see the grid in the preview video. 5. Exclude All: Disable motion detection in all areas. Include All: enable motion detection in all areas. 6. Mark the Manual sensitivity check box; you can manually modify the sensitivity. Name Sensitivity Motion Keyframe only Detection interval Detection resolution Description Adjust the Sensitivity slider so that irrelevant background noise is filtered out. Adjust the Motion slider so that motion detection is only triggered by the required level of motion. Select Keyframe only if you want motion detection to take place only on keyframe of the video. (Available in XProtect Enterprise only) Specify how often motion detection analysis is carried out on video from the camera. Specify whether the full image or a selected percentage of the image should be analyzed. 7. Click OK to save. 3.7 Audio In the Management Application: Expand the selected hardware device, right-click the Microphone, select Properties. Figure 22. Access Microphone Properties 19 P a g e

21 Figure 23. Microphone Properties 1. Mark Enable check box. 2. You can modify the microphone name. 3. The recording setting. Always: Always record audio on all applicable cameras. Never: Never record audio on any cameras. Note that even though audio is never recorded, you can still listen to live audio in XProtect Smart Client. Follow Video: The audio is recorded with the video. Go to the Smart Client. You can choose the microphone in the panes. 20 P a g e

23 Figure 25. Live View 1. PTZ control, you can use the navigation button to control the PTZ camera, or directly use the virtual Joystick in the view. 2. Zoom in / out. 3. The camera toolbar: Feature Description View recorded video using independent playback Create the screenshot Send to printer Copy the image Manual recording for 5 minutes Access the PTZ menu, manage the PTZ preset positions. Change cameras in views Send video between views Use digital zoom 3.9 Playback Click the Playback tab to access the live view. As the mouse move to the camera, the camera toolbar will show up. Click to expand the timeline. The red part in the timeline is motion detection. And pink one is the always or regular recording. 22 P a g e
