2 INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the Schneider Optics DiStar+HD projector lens. With the Schneider DiStar focus mount, the lens is designed to function with Barco, Christie, and NEC projectors and gives the end user the ability to adjust the focus. Please read the following instructions before proceeding to install the DiStar+HD lens to the projector. By factory default, the DiStar+HD lens is configured with a full aperture iris. An optional cats-eye iris is available for use with your lens. Please contact Schneider Optics Inc. for order information. Perform the following steps in order to mount your projector lens. Attach lens to projector per Barco instructions. Make certain that any one of the focus flange alignment pin clearance slots is aligned with the projector alignment pin. NOTE: Multiple alignment pin clearance slots are provided in order to accomidate the use of a cats-eye aperture iris. NOTE: Due to the weight of some DiStar lenses, provide temporary external support before proceeding to next step. 2. Attach support bracket to focus flange and Barco projector mount plate using the provided 3mm hex driver, M4 cap screws, and washers per Figure. 3. Once lens is securely attached to projector, loosen the 3- /4-20 focus lock set screws in order to allow the lens to rotate freely. Achieve focus by rotating lens clockwise / counterclockwise until lens is focused. Re-tighten focus lock set screws once focus is achieved. Page 3

Perform the following steps in order to mount your projector lens. Remove the 5- /4-20 X 3/6" nylon tip set screws from the Barco projector adapter ring by using the provided /8" hex driver. 2. Remove the Barco projector adapter ring by slipping the ring through back of lens as shown in Figure 2. Page 4

Make certain that flange clearance cuts are aligned with projector clamp thumb screws for proper installation. 4. Once lens is securely attached to projector, loosen the 3- /4-20 focus lock set screws in order to allow the lens to rotate freely. Achieve focus by rotating lens clockwise / counterclockwise until lens is focused. Re-tighten focus lock set screws once focus is achieved. Page 5

Perform the following steps in order to mount your projector lens. Remove the 5- /4-20 X 3/6" nylon tip set screws from the Barco projector adapter ring by using the provided /8" hex driver. 2. Remove the Barco projector adapter ring by slipping the ring through back of lens as shown in Figure 4.. Page 6

Using the provided /8" hex driver, remove the 3- /4-20 focus lock set screws in order to allow the focus flange assembly to rotate freely per Figure Rotate the focus flange assembly in a counter clockwise direction in order to remove it from the lens per Figure Separate components on focus flange assembly, (focus flange and focus body), by unscrewing the two components from each other per Figure 7. NOTE: Separating focus flange from focus body may be difficult due to the presence of thread adhesive. If necessary, heat components up in order to aid in separation. Page 7

Rotate the focus body in a clockwise direction until it completely bottoms out and reverse 4 complete rotations. When step 8 is completed, confirm that the gap as shown in Figure 8B is approximately 3 mm. 7. Using the provided /6" hex driver, attach X /8 nylon tip set screws in order to lock focus body in place. 8. Attach Christie projector adapter ring by slipping ring through back of lens until ring bottoms out on lens neck as shown in Figure 8 B. Secure the adapter ring by using the provided 3/32" hex driver and the X /8" set screws. Page 8

Once lens is securely attached to projector, use projector focusing capabilities in order to focus lens.. If focusing can not be achieved with projector focusing capabilities, the DiStar lens has built-in focusing capabilities. Remove lens from projector and loosen the X /8 nylon tip set screws as indicated in step 7. Insert the lens back into the projector and clamp. Rotate the lens to achieve focus. Once focus is achieved, remove lens and tighten the X /8 nylon tip set screws. Page 9
