Safety Notes - The video inspection system is not waterproof! - The video inspection system is not for use in the medical field! - Any kind of reparations on inside of the unit, must be carried out, exclusively by qualified staff! (If required, contact the RESS-customer service) - The connection and disconnection, the respective components of the system, must always be carried out without power supply! - The video inspection system must be switched off after it has been used! - To clean the monitor and the housing, please use a damp, clean cloth to prevent scratches! We recommend a microfibre cloth. - Please avoid contact with water of any kind. - Please avoid collisions at any time! (use strap) - Do not use aggressive cleanser for cleaning! - Do not use the inspection system near a strong magnetic field! - Avoid temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. 5 4. Working with the device To achieve optimal working conditions, pay attention in choosing the location. The screen should be protected from direct light. Like this you can prevent irritating light reflection. You can achieve the best view results, with a vertical view onto the monitor. As support equipment, there is a transport- & functional bag, with a special glare shield available. (Art.-No.: 25601) Turn on the device by using the on/off switch (8). Is the camera connected, the image will appear on the monitor (1).The basic setting is based on ex factory. By turning the contrast and brightness controls (2), you can as needed, fine tune for optimum visibility. The 4 red buttons (6) are used for raising, lowering or rotating the movable head of the Rotary-Ball-Camera (Art.-No.: 2561). If your portable camera-head should make a movement, without you having pressed a button, use the two trim-controllers (7) to adjust the camera-head back into position at rest. Turn the buttons until the camera comes to a standstill. With the charging jack the Mini-Handset can be recharged. Advice: Never forget to turn (8) the camera off, at the end of an inspection to avoid discharging the battery unnecessarily! 5. Power supply The internal battery is empty by delivery. Connect it to the charger to charge it. The charging process will take round about 3 hours. A dis-/charger is included. Before charging, you can discharge the battery completely if you wish. For this press the button for 2 seconds until the yellow light "discharge" lightens up. The battery is charged automatically when it is discharged (charges with only 2 LEDs, the red light flashes as sign of unloaded). When the battery is fully charged, the green Ready-LEDflashes up. The using-time of the Mini-Handset depends on which camera head is connected. In combination with the Rotary-Ball-Camera the capacity is round about 3 hours. If the voltage drops below the operating voltage, the screen image will start to wane and/or the lighting of the camera head will switch off. The charger can recharge the battery. Operating on grid and charging at the same time is not possible. 6. 6 Transport- & functional bag for Mini-Handset Art.-no Turn the transport bag on its back and open the hook-and-loop fastener. Put the camera-handset with the monitor down faced into the bag Turn the bag with the display on its front and open the sun protection. Press the TENAX -Knobs onto the complement. In order to release the knobs, easily pull it. Open the lower cover and roll it backwarts together. Now you can fix it with the hook-and-loop fastener below the bag. 6 RESS Camera systems - accessories

(use strap) - Do not use aggressive cleanser for cleaning! - Do not clean the device with a high-pressure jet! 2. Start-up Connect the camera cable with the 12-pin connector on the camera head. Please make sure that the guidance of the cable matches with the jack. Screw the plug connection with the thread tight. The camera can only be used, if all connections to the system have been made and the basic unit is switched on. If this process was successful, all lights on the inside of the camera, which are used for the illumination of the chimney, will turn on. The Rotary-Ball-Camera is because off its small size, suitable for the inspections of chimneys and exhaust pipes with a diameter starting by 55 mm. The Ball-Camera and the Miniature Camera RS29 are intended for exhaust-gas-lines. The optimal application field for the Ball-Camera are pipes from 80 up to 120 mm. For the Miniature Camera RS29, pipes from 50 mm. Several 90 curves are possible! 8 RESS Camera systems - Camera heads

9 3. Working with the device Attention! Never attempt to hold or rotate thecamera head of the rotary-ball-camera by hand! The mechanics would be damaged! Trim regulator: for basic position of Rotary-Ball-Camera. Upon delivery it is possible, that the camera rotates too far or not at all. Please adjust by setting the trim regulators as needed. The left trim regulator is to control the rotation of the camera and the right one to control the movement. Readjustment the constant rotation Turn left trim regulator until the camera stops rotating automatically. Readjustment the constant movement If camera no longer moves and just looks forward: This means, that the right trim regulator must have been turned completely to the left. To set back, turn slowly clockwise until camera head starts moving again. Now the Camera head can be controlled with the joystick. Push the joystick down, and then pull up. If it moves to quickly, regulate movement by turning the trim regulator slowly anticlockwise until movement in both directions have the same speed. When camera head is on 90 pan and does not turn back into initial situation, turn the right trim regulator slowly anticlockwise, until camera head starts moving again. Now the Camera head can be controlled with the joystick. Push the joystick down, and then pull up. Adjust trim regulator until speed of both movements are equal. 4. (If required, contact the RESS-customer service) - The connection and disconnection, the respective components of the system, must always be carried out without power supply! - During unwinding the rod, do not place your fingers between the spokes of the viper! - The video inspection system must be switched off after it has been used! - Please avoid collisions at any time! (use strap) - Do not use aggressive cleanser for cleaning! - Do not pull the GFK-rod over a sharp edge! - Only clean the GFK-rod while connected with the camera head, to avoid moisture and dirt getting into the connections. - Please avoid high temperature at all times! 11 2. Special Instructions The GFK-rod is exclusively for leading and for the power supply of the camera heads. It should never be used as a sweeping rod or as a pull rope! To guarantee a precise meter counter, the GFK-rod has to be rolled up completely to the viper (there is no absolute 100% accuracy). Before rolling it up, please switch the on basic unit. 3. Start-up Before using the unit, please control if it has been damaged or if it is dirty. Particular the connectors and the thread have to be dry and clean. The connection and disconnection of the respective components of the system must always be carried out, without power supply! Connect the jack of the camera to the 12-pin connector next to the handle. Please make sure that the groove guide of the plug matches with the socket. After connecting cable and jack gently, tighten the thread by hand. Now the camera head can be fixed at the end of the GFK-rod. Camera-Viper with a precise meter counter To reset use red button To guarantee a precise meter counter, the GFK-rod has to be rolled up completely to the viper (no absolute 100% accuracy). There is a slight tolerance deviation, depending on how good the GFK-rod was rolled up. Camera systems - Camera Vipers RESS 11

12 4. Inspection Please do not pull or push the GFK-rod over sharp edges! Never fall below the minimum bending radius to avoid the GFK-rod of snapping. Always wear working gloves to prevent injuries. Always hold the rod close to the attachment point, otherwise it can break. By reeling the rod in, it should be cleaned using a damp, clean cloth, to prevent dirtying the drum. Using vipers with a digital meter counter, a display will appear in the bottom corner. During the inspection, it is possible to reset the meter counter to zero by pressing the red button on the case of the axis. This is quite useful if you need to do a relative measurement. This is possible in both ways. 2.4m 5. 13 Additional lighting Art.-no Delivery contents - Light ring - Adapter cable - 2 x Velcro Slide the ring carefully over the case of the rotary-ball-head and then fix it with the setscrew. Attention: Do not tighten the locating screw by force, otherwise it could damage the casing of the rotary ball camera! Now the adapter cable needs to be connected between the rotary-ball-camera and the camera-system-cable. The cable from the additional lamp ring should be led down from the camera head to the cable branch at the adapter cable and then plugged into the socket. Attention: Only connect the lamp ring and the cable, without power supply! Once everything is connected properly, please fasten the connecting cable to the additional lighting by using the velcro, so that the cable does not interfere during work or gets stuck. The short velcro ist for the adapter cable und the long velcro for the rotary ball camera. Pull the end of the velcro through the metal ring to close. Camera systems - Additional lighting RESS 13

14 Centering Spring Art.-no Turn both ends gently towards each other and then push together. 3. Push the rotary ball camera gently through the big ring and screw it into the small ring. Do not touch the head of the camera! 2. The small ring has to lie underneath the big ring. Hold the spring with one hand. Attention: Please make sure that the threads have been connected even with each other, otherwise the thread in the spring will be damaged! 5. By turning the knurled screw, the spring can be brought into the position you need. 4. Let the big ring slowly slide up. 14 RESS Camera systems - Centering Spring

15 Protection Basket Art.-no Fixing screw To protect the rotatable part of the rotary-ball-camera during use, please place the protection basket over the casing, until you reach the impact ring and secure with the knurled screw. The view and lighting is only affected minimal, but the protection of the camera is maximized! Attention: Do not fasten the fixing screw with pressure, otherwise the casing of the rotary ball camera could be damaged! Centering Screw Art.-no Using the centering screw, any kind of stars with a hole of Ø 28 can be fixed to the camera, so it is centered during work (chimney or a exhaust gas pipe). We recommend to use a star that is quite soft and not to thick, to prevent the sight of being too clouded by soot and dust. Simply fix behind the camera head. 16 Viper Connector To inspect from the bottom up. Screw on to the existing sweeping viper. Art.-no Screw the rotary ball camera into the viper connector. Attention: Fasten straightly, otherwise the thread could be damaged! 2. Connect the viper connector with the M10 thread to a reel or a rod. 3. Unscrew and then tighten the cable jack. 4. Do not keep the cable to long. 5. Screw the protecting cap on to the viper connector. 16 RESS Camera systems - Viper connector

Tips for the inspection Inspection of a default To determine if the chimney has a default, hold the camera vertical in the centre of the chimney at its lowest cleaning door. You will see the light on the monitor. Lead the camera in a circular motion through the chimney. With a little practice, you will be able to determine the default and its direction. A precise localization you can achieve from the attic. Inspection in the attic or on the rooftop After switching the device on, gently lower the camerahead into the chimney. By using a cable with marks, you can see how deep the camera is inside. The cable has been made for this use, so even if you use the full length, it will carry the weight of the camera easily. 21 Troubleshooting / Maintenance / Service Fault The device does not turn on. Solution - Maybe the battery is too low? Try again after recharging. The device needs a basic voltage,so the monitor can be started. The device image does not appear on the monitor screen. - Please check the plug connection to the camera head Malfunction during recording or playback of a video. - Switch the device off and on The device does not record. - Please check if a SD-card is inlaid The camera-head is moving independently. Wrong meter counting - Maybe the trim has been moved. Turn the buttons until the camera-head comes to a standstill. (for readjustment see page 11) - The cable is broken. -> The cable has to be changed from our service. - Reel in the GFK-rod and switch on the basic unit The screws can only be fastened or opened with pressure. - Please clean as recommended and check on any damages. Care and service - Please clean on a regular base. Do not use aggressive cleanser of any kind! - Please avoid contact with water at all times and of any kind! - By reeling the rod back in, it should be cleaned using a damp, clean cloth to prevent dirtying the drum.
