2 Computer Networking Academy The Computer Networking Academy will open the door to the high wage, high demand field of computer networking and information technology. This program will give students an opportunity to earn valuable industry certifications and college credits prior to graduating from high school.

3 Computer Networking Academy (CNA) This two-year program is designed to give students a broad based understanding of networking technologies. Students will have the opportunity to earn two industry credentials: Certified in Convergent Network Technologies (CCENT) and the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Students must be accepted and dually enrolled at Cuyahoga Community College to be eligible to participate in this program.

4 Students enrolled in the Computer Networking Program will take the following sequence of courses: Information Tech Concepts for Programmers IT 1025 Networking Fundamental - IT 1025 TCP/IP ITNT 200 Cisco I: Basic Networking Technologies IT 210 Cisco II: Basic Routing and Switching EET 112 Cisco III: Intermediate Routing and Switching EET 201 Cisco IV: Basic WAN Technologies EET 212

7 Student Options after High School After successful completion of the CNA program, students can graduate from high school with Cisco certifications and go directly into the work force Students can go on to finish their Associates Degree at Tri-C Students can transfer Tri-C credits to one of several a 4- year institutions to earn Bachelor s Degree Depending on industry, company size and geographic location, individuals with this education and certifications might expect to see salaries in the $2-6/hour range.

8 INTRODUCING COMPUTER NETWORKING ACADEMY A COLLEGE CREDIT PROGRAM The Computer Networking Academy will open the door to the high wage, high demand field of computer networking and information technology. Information Technology Concepts for Programmers (IT 1025, Online Course) Offered in the 10th grade, and in the 9th grade to select students with counselor recommendation. IT 1025 is an introductory class designed for students interested in pursuing careers in the programming, networking and general information technology fields. Course options and availability should be discussed with the associate high school counselor. Computer Networking Academy Program This two-year program, taken during 11th and 12th grades, is the next step in the Computer Networking Academy. Designed to give students a broad based understanding of networking technologies, students will have the opportunity to earn two industry credentials: Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Students must be accepted to, and dually enrolled at, Cuyahoga Community College to be eligible to participate in this program. 9 COMPUTER NETWORKING ACADEMY Those who qualify (one with strong Math ability, who receives instructor recommendation and who successfully completes IT1025) are then invited to participate in the Computer Networking Academy program at Polaris during their Junior and Senior years. Successful students earn 24 college credits, Tri-C s Cisco Short Term Certificate, and are prepared to take the Cisco CCENT and CCNA certification exams. After successful completion of this program, options for graduates include moving directly into the work force (with achieved Cisco certifications); Completing an Associates Degree at Tri-C and then moving into the work force or Transferring these program credits and those from the Tri-C degree programs to one of several 4-year institutions and working toward earning a Bachelor s Degree before landing a career role. Depending on industry, company size and geographic location, individuals with this education and certifications might expect to see salaries in the $2-6/hour range.
