5 CAPITAL REGION COLLABORATIVE Objectives are job placement for individuals encountering barriers and long term tracking and support.

6 TRAINING Design Short-term, intensive training Includes project-based learning, job preparation, job search and placement supports Grant-funded Tuition, fees, books, software and exam vouchers are included

7 TRAINING Occupational Training Programs Networking Engineer (132 hours) IT User Support Specialist (114 hours) Health Information Technology & Management Systems (136 hours Coming spring 2018) Web Programmer, AWS/Cloud Computing, Microsoft Database Administrator, ITL v.3 Under Evaluation

8 SCHEDULE/STRUCTURE Evenings & Weekends varies based on track Hybrid, Online, and Face-2-Face week duration hours o Includes 30 hours of workplace readiness training

9 ELIGIBILITY FOR GRANT Adults with an inclination and aptitude to excel in IT and one of the following: Veterans of the Armed Services Unemployed or Under Employed Some College but not Currently Enrolled or Relevant Work/Life Experience Incumbent workers screened for eligibility Note: Additional assessment/prerequisites apply based upon training track of interest. Current FCC students are not eligible.

10 INTAKE PROCESS Website/Application FCC review for grant eligibility for grant participation Demographics Resume/Experience Workforce Services reviews eligibility for WIOA support FCC will communicate eligibility to applicant Accepted for track complete FCC registration process Not accepted for track individual referred for other opportunities Attend program orientation and complete training Take certification exam

11 NETWORK ENGINEERING Training Details The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) curriculum in this program is a gateway to entry-level networking jobs and will prepare you to take the Cisco CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) and CCNA Routing and Switching certification exams to earn the designation CCNA. Potential career pathways include: network technician, support engineer, network administrator, network designer, network engineer, and more.

12 NETWORK ENGINEERING Prerequisites: CompTIA A + certification or equivalent experience and high school diploma/ged. Class Dates: 2/6/18-7/12/18 (Cohort 2) Schedule: TTH, 6-9pm Location: FCC Main Campus

13 IT USER SUPPORT SPECIALIST Training Details Prepare for a career in computer user support by learning how to install and troubleshoot operating systems, configure software applications, install and repair hardware, set up networks, and provide end-user customer support. This program track also prepares you for CompTIA A + certification and provides two CompTIA A + certification exam vouchers upon program completion to make it easier to certify. Potential career pathways include: computer support specialist, computer applications specialist, PC technician, help desk specialist, software trainer.

14 IT USER SUPPORT SPECIALIST Prerequisites: High school diploma/ged, basic understanding of computers and navigation in the Windows 10 operating system Class Dates: Spring 2018 (Cohort 2) Schedule: W 6-9p, F/Sa 9a-4p (one Saturday per month) Location: FCC Monroe Center

15 HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS Training Details Prepare for a career in healthcare IT by 1. Gaining the knowledge and skills required to install, manage and troubleshoot IT systems in medical and clinical settings. 2. Learn a broad range of medical terminology, health data requirements/standards, clinical classification and coding systems, and database security required for electronic recordkeeping systems. Program Name: Health Information Technology & Management Systems

16 HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS HIMS Curriculum Aligned to the Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS) certification Administered by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Designed for emerging professionals and a pathway for careers in health IT

19 WORKPLACE EXCELLENCE Training Details Workplace is the Excellence Series? A flexible curriculum that offers ten modules designed to help people understand and deliver what employers really want today. Each module teaches the employer s perspective, practical skills, and the bottom line on a key topic so participants can increase their company and career success. 30 hours that will help you land jobs faster, stay longer, and succeed sooner

20 NEXT STEPS Complete all required fields of the application Workforce Services computer lab is available until 1p Participate in assessment and eligibility activities in a timely manner, as requested Ensure you can make scheduled classes and program orientation if accepted into the program Let us know if you cannot there will be other opportunities ( techconnect@frederick.edu) Acceptance activities will be complete by Dec. 15 th If accepted stay engaged. If not accepted at this time may referred to other opportunities.
