3 CISD MISSION STATEMENT Canutillo ISD s purpose is to provide high quality educational experiences that will inspire and prepare all students to apply the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective leaders and productive citizens. CISD VISION STATEMENT Canutillo ISD is a premier school district with nationally-ranked, multi-literate graduates ready to excel in college, their careers, their community, and in life. 4 CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION What We Do The Career & Technical Education Programs of Canutillo ISD, in partnership with the community, pursues educational excellence and dedicates its resources to create a learning environment that encourages all students to become lifelong learners in a global society possessing morals, integrity, work ethics and interpersonal skills. CTE Mission Statement The Canutillo ISD Career and Technical Education program will promote academic success, technical skill acquisition and cultivate potential in all students through the collaboration of business and industry partners. This partnership motivates and prepares today s CTE students for the challenges of post-secondary education and the demands of a globally competitive workplace. CTE Vision Statement The Career and Technical Education program of Canutillo ISD will engage every student in high-quality, rigorous and relevant coursework and student organizations that promote creativity, innovation, leadership, community service and personal excellence allowing students to turn their passions into paychecks. CTE GOALS CTE Team s STRATEGIC COMMITMENT TO QUALITY 1. Increase the number and diversity of industry certifications and work-based opportunities to students 2. Develop more robust partnerships with business, industry and community members 3. Plan and implement dynamic, student-centered, project-based instruction ENDORSEMENTS Beginning in the ninth grade (freshman year), students must select an Endorsement. An Endorsement is a related series of courses that are grouped together by interest or skill set. There are 5 endorsement areas to choose from: Science Technology Engineering & Math (STEM) Business & Industry Public Service Arts & Humanities Multi-Disciplinary Studies 4

5 CANUTILLO ISD CAREER CLUSTERS The US Dept. of Education Career clusters organize occupations and industries into 16 groups, or clusters, according to related skills and knowledge needed. The career clusters curriculum is designed to increase students exposure to career information and opportunities. The production, processing, marketing, distribution, financing, and development of agricultural commodities and resources including food, fiber, wood products, natural resources, horticulture, and other plant and animal products/resources. Business Management and Administration careers encompass planning, organizing, directing and evaluating business functions essential to efficient and productive business operations. Business Management and Administration career opportunities are available in every sector of the economy. Planning, services for financial and investment planning, banking, insurance, and business financial management. Hospitality & Tourism encompasses the management, marketing and operations of restaurants and other foodservices, lodging, attractions, recreation events and travel related services. Building Linkages in IT Occupations Framework: For Entry Level, Technical, and Professional Careers Related to the Design, Development, Support and Management of Hardware, Software, Multimedia, and Systems Integration Services. Planning, managing, and performing marketing activities to reach organizational objectives. Designing, producing, exhibiting, performing, writing, and publishing multimedia content including visual and performing arts and design, journalism, and entertainment services. Planning, managing, and providing therapeutic services, diagnostic services, health information, support services, and biotechnology research and development. Preparing individuals for employment in career pathways that relate to families and human needs such as counseling and mental health services, family and community services, personal care, and consumer services. Planning, managing, and providing legal, public safety, protective services and homeland security, including professional and technical support services. Planning, managing, and providing scientific research and professional and technical services (e.g., physical science, social science, engineering) including laboratory and testing services, and research and development services. 5
