3 Planning and Managing FTTx Projects Cost effective building of reliable FTTx networks is a complex task with many variables. A successful project implementation requires that all groups working in the individual areas of a project have the required competences. We provide support and training to gain proficiency and skills for everyone involved in the entire process. Network Planning, Design and Documentation We provide courses for accurate planning, designing and documentation, covering both high and detailed levels. Relevant knowledge of network planning and design leads to efficient construction of reliable networks. Adequate working methods and documentation guarantee quality during the construction phase and later on when maintaining and expanding the network. Project Management for FTTx Networks Our project management training is tailor made for building FTTx networks. We teach valuable project management skills to meet the expected standards of safety, delivery and quality within a set budget and timeframe. Our courses are based on many years of experience in running actual FTTx projects. Field Support for Quality Assurance We offer field support and on-site training during implementation of fiber network projects. We also provide support within quality assurance such as quality audits and final inspections.

4 Installation and Maintenance Having the knowledge and skills needed for implementing the building process determines the level of quality and efficiency. The key to keeping set schedules and frameworks in a project is to do everything right the first time and to understand how each operation affects the whole process. Our courses combine theory with a high degree of hands-on skills labs and are fully adapted to the local conditions of the market. We provide the training needed independent of manufacturers of products and equipment. Civil Works and Deployment The deployed infrastructure strongly affects the whole process in realizing the network project, and thereby sets the conditions for those performing the next stages of operations needed to complete the project. Therefore, choosing and implementing the right deployment methods according to the specific conditions of a project are crucial factors. We provide the training needed for deployment technology of cables, conventional sub ducts and micro duct systems for ground, air and water. Fiber Installation and Quality Assurance Combining theoretical studies in fiber optic technology and industry standards, with hands-on skills exercises to practice installation techniques, gives a thorough working knowledge of fiber installation. We use the latest FTTx test equipment such as light source and power meters (LSPM) and optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDR) for troubleshooting and network acceptance testing. Selected courses: Fiber Technician basics, 7 days Installation and Fault Management, 5 days Test and Verification via OTDR and LSPM, 3 days Maintenance and Fault Management of Local Loop Copper Networks Our courses provide the knowledge and skillset for all operations within maintenance and fault management. This includes repair, splicing and maintenance of cables and use of current test instruments and measurement methods.

5 Certification Certification according to national or customer specific standards, is a more common way for network owners and other players to ensure the quality of their fiber networks. Certifying both companies and individuals is a way of making sure that fiber networks are built and maintained according to the current standards. We have experience in formulating standards as well as training and certifying according to them. Robust Fiber Sweden is at the forefront when it comes to fiber optic technology standards and techniques. Robust Fiber is a standard for the Swedish market. We offer training and certification for individuals and companies within the Robust Fiber concept, which covers fiber installation, civil works and deployment. ETA The Electronics Technicians Association International (ETA) certification verifies that electronics technicians have received sufficient training in industry standards, including troubleshooting techniques, knowledge of test equipment, and installation procedures. As the only education center in Europe approved by ETA, we offer training and certification of FOI (Fiber Optics Installer) according to the ETA standard. This includes courses, hands-on skills exams and a knowledge exam. Certification of Products and System Solutions We support product and system manufacturers in setting standards for training and certification that is required when offering system. We also offer customer specific training and certification of working methods and product handling.

6 IP Training Since 2003 Iftac has offered high end training in IP networking and IT infrastructure within the framework of governmental programs. MYH The Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education has approved and supported our programs. Iftac has deep knowledge within the field and offers courses covering, among other things, the topics below. All of Iftac s instructors are certified for the courses they teach. Education is performed in a lab environment suitable for large scale testing and evaluation.
