1 CASR Part 66 B2 to B1/B1 to B2 Category Training Information Sheet The largest CASR and EASA Part 147 approved Maintenance Training Organisation in Australia.
2 CASR Part 66 B2 to B1 / B1 to B2 Category Training How things differ between CAR 1988 and CASR 1998 From a theory training perspective, in lieu of CASA Basics, Australia has adopted the Part 66 basic knowledge syllabus and examinations (very similar to EASA) but from a practical perspective, in lieu of engineer hour-based logbooks/schedule of experience, we now have competency-based training and assessment from within the Aeroskills Training Package. When these units of competency are clustered together they form qualifications; so essentially, CASR Part 66 B1.1, B1.3 and B2 licences are mapped against the Diploma of Aeroskills Mechanical and Avionics respectively. For more information then please refer to the CASR Part 66 Manual of Standards (66.A.25 and 66.A.30) as well as our website CASR Part 66 Category/sub-category training Adding opposite Categories B1 or B2 to an already granted B2 or B1 licence is a fairly painless process and Aviation Australia can offer you world-class theory and practical training to get compliant for the application of the licence sought. From a process perspective, the first-step is going to be you enrolling in to the applicable Diploma of Aeroskills/competencies. We will then conduct a comprehensive Recognition of Prior (RPL) assessment from the licence that you already hold and any other evidence that you wish to provide such as maintenance authorities, regulatory examination passes, SOE etc. The more information and evidence initially provided the better; as the assessment is very individual, in depth and will also gauge your practical aptitude which is used to calculate your indicative block - practical training requirements; more on that below. Post-assessment, you will be issued with an RPL report that will clearly outline your basic knowledge and practical competency training requirements. For basic knowledge, you have the options to self-study our CASR Part 66 Training Material then sit the examinations* when you feel ready and/or participate in instructor-led training. For practical competency, you can either gain the required competency on-the-job and/or we can practically train and assess you here in Brisbane. The practical competency training and assessment that Aviation Australia can offer you in Brisbane is truly innovative and world-leading. It is designed in a modularised block fashion with week-blocks of competency training and assessment so you can spread the training over a time-frame that suits you. The beauty about this method is that before and after the blocks of training, you are going back in to the work-force and may have the provision to work on the required competencies on-the-job, therefore achieving competency faster, potentially reducing your block-training requirements. The whole process is very tailored, dynamic and flexible. The pre-cursor to attending the practical competency training and assessment is that you need to have completed the required basic knowledge for the licence sought. *NOTE: CASR Part 66 Multiple Choice Examinations (MCQ) and essays have to be sat at our approved locations
