Equipped with a full stage house, the facility offers room for 3000 guests across an area of 5000 m². The municipal enterprise ensures its events have a unique flair while maintaining a strong commitment to service. This multifunctional cultural center allows for creative communication between artists and the public in addition to bringing together the business community for events such as industry trade shows, conferences, and product launches. Full wireless LAN coverage for the entire facility with wireless high-speed internet and access to event information was required to provide the technology expected of a modern facility and connect it to the outside world. 3 Repertoire In the past, only enough wireless LAN access points to serve a small number of participants were available for individual events. Furthermore, these access points were available only in certain areas and had to be set up on a temporary basis for individual events. These ad hoc solutions frequently required extra personnel and time to implement. A large upcoming developer conference at the Forum am Schlosspark provided occasion to replace the existing wireless LAN infrastructure with a stable, future-proof solution. The project required a high degree of reliable wireless LAN connectivity across a large area and an option to use access vouchers. In the future, large numbers of guests were to have wireless LAN connectivity available at the various events for any number of different applications. Innovative and professional equipment was required to make this seamless wireless network a reality. When a great many participants are using the network, it is important to be able to reliably supply the bandwidth that usage peaks require, for instance during intermissions or large corporate events. A full cast of speedy technicians There wasn't much time to stage the project's implementation before the upcoming developer congress. Only two weeks passed from planning to go-live. Due to the very tight deadline, the entire wireless LAN solution was implemented by bintec elmeg in just a matter of days by adhering to a well-orchestrated plan. This rapid implementation was also made possible by the new IT infrastructure already in place at the Forum am Schlosspark, which meant that all the required network ports were ready to go. Fiberoptic and copper lines had been laid in advance, and the LAN had been upgraded to the state of the art. All the existing wireless LAN components were replaced down to the last device. The current solution was thoroughly planned, taking into consideration experiences with the previous system. A site survey was conducted to determine the number and position of required access points and ensure seamless wireless coverage. A total of 40 lowkey WiFi-certified bintec W2003n-ext access points were installed in just three days at the event facilities and common areas of Forum am Schlosspark. To ensure smooth internet access at high bandwidths of up to 100 Mbps, three high-performance RXL gateways were also installed. Two of the gateways are redundant and linked via the proprietary BRRP protocol to guarantee high-availability and 100% system stability. The bintec WLAN Controller runs on the bintec RXL12100 gateways and enables quick and easy configuration and seamless monitoring for all the connected bintec access points. The result is that 900 users can simultaneously enjoy outstanding performance from the wireless LAN throughout all of the facility's buildings.
