7 AT&T 3P Process: Predictive, Preventive, Proactive AT&T monitors and enhances its network during a variety of major events, including: Political events Major weather events Major conventions and trade shows Major concerts and music festivals Major sporting events Actions taken for each event vary based on the level of support needed, but can include: Additional security measures Network restrictions Addition of temporary network capacity Additional staff coverage Clear all alarms and ensure redundancy 7

8 Preparing the AT&T Network for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics AT&T took steps to augment its wireless network for customers attending the Olympics in Vancouver. Increased cell site backhaul capacity to support wireless network traffic Added second carrier to the area Implemented a cross-border roaming agreement with Rogers Wireless Wireless voice and data retainability remained above 95 percent throughout the duration of the Olympic Games. 8

10 AT&T s Support of NBC s Olympic Broadcasts AT&T has been the exclusive telecommunications ti provider for NBC s Olympic broadcasts for the last 15 years AT&T has supported NBC from a network perspective at Olympic games, summer and winter, since the Sydney games in 2000 In 2000, all of NBC s content was broadcast in SD. For the 2010 Games in Vancouver, NBC produced 100 percent of their content in HD Network support has changed accordingly: In Sydney, network support consisted of three DS3s in Vancouver, AT&T provided the bandwidth equivalent of 42 DS3s AT&T s fail-safe network provided 100 percent reliability throughout the duration of the Vancouver Olympic games NBC broadcast 835 hours of Olympic programming during the Vancouver games, and approximately 625 of those hours were broadcast live 10

U.S. Olympic Training Center Program Three U.S. Olympic Training Centers across the country provide athletes, coaches, and staff access to world-class communications technology through AT&T wired and wireless services in dorm rooms, training facilities, and on the practice field AT&T Athlete Connections Centers Located in U.S. Olympic Training Centers, AT&T Athlete Connection Centers feature a variety of AT&T services that allow Olympic athletes to stay connected 11

12 teamusa.org and AT&T Synaptic Hosting USOC s web site, teamusa.org, experiences significant fluctuations in user traffic throughout the two-year Olympic Games cycle Demand for online web content particularly high-bandwidth content like video and audio continues to skyrocket, particularly in the months leading up to and after the Olympic games The USOC uses AT&T s Synaptic Hosting solution to provide fully scalable information technology infrastructure and bandwidth Synaptic Hosting enables the USOC to increase or scale back Web hosting services in real time, based on site traffic, and pay only for capacity used AT&T support team reduces need for USOC IT resources 12

13 Telehealth Services Hold Potential for Athletic Training AT&T s Telehealth services and networks enable patients and medical specialists to connect virtually AT&T Teleclinics: diagnostic environment using Telepresence to enable doctorpatient interaction when face-to-face meetings aren t possible AT&T Virtual Care: bundled solution that includes infrastructure, videoconferencing, medical devices, Telemedicine Encounter Management solutions, and application software AT&T Healthcare Community Online improves real-time access to medical records and relevant applications. Highly-secure secure, cloud-based health information exchange and collaboration portal that enables medical staff to provide faster and more accurate diagnosis at the point of care Simplifies integration of information from multiple data sources and connects different users throughout the healthcare ecosystem 13

14 Telehealth in the AT&T Labs Researchers in the AT&T Labs are focused on developing innovative telehealth solutions that could someday benefit training and care for Olympians, including: Cardiovascular Fitness Monitoring, a wirelessly-enabled solution that could report athletes cardiovascular fitness data to physicians, coaches, trainers and officials, allowing them to carefully monitor and treat patients whose cardiovascular fitness levels are out of normal ranges Telesoles, high-tech shoe insoles that sense gait patterns and wirelessly report results. Telesoles could someday be used by Olympic runners and their training teams to measure sprint gaits and correct posture, foot placement, or other issues that may be impeding their performance 14
