Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise Duplication System with Spatial redundancy (CPU CS A) Configuration 1 OBJECTIVE: Describe the configuration of the CPU A in case of duplicated configuration with spatial redundancy
Global topology with spatial redundancy 2 This topology is used in the flash movie for management description of a site with spatial redundancy
Full IP configuration of CS Management of CPU A netadmin Warning: for a specific setup please use menu mode (netadmin -m) Do you want to erase the existing setup? y X25 private network number? 1 Unique site number? 1 Warning: the node name must be unique. Enter node name? node1 Do you want to activate internal name resolver (y/n default is 'n')? y Enter local CPU position (a or b) for duplicated configuration or n for single CPU (default is 'n')? a 3 Warning : the management of the node name must be identical on both CS! Node name : a name without any domain information. You cannot write here node1.alcatel.fr for example because the DNS service keeps only the first string and will compare node1 with node1.alcatel.fr. this parameter is only used with the non Alcatel IP devices like SIP, H323 or external application like 4760i access from IE for example. if there is no need to reach the CS from an external application you can let the default node name and then you don t start the DNS service. The DNS server running in the CS provides its main IP address when receiving a request for this name. Be careful only the first string of the FQDN is kept from the DNS request for the node name checking. The client (external application) uses the 2 main role IP addresses of the CS as primary and secondary server. Or if there is a DNS server in the customer LAN this DNS server sends the requests towards our 2 CS. Because the DNS service is active only on the main CPU the client receives the right main IP address. Internal name resolver : allows to start the DNS service on the CS. Only the translation of the node name into the main IP address is available. FQDN : Fully Qualified Domain Name. A host name + a domain name node1.alcatel.fr is a FQDN with node1 as a hostname and alcatel.fr as a domain name.
Ethernet interface setup ============= CPU name? xa CPU address? Network mask? Name used when the CPU role is MAIN? xma Address used when the CPU role is MAIN? Full IP configuration of CS Management of CPU A (cont.) CPU redundancy setup ============= Twin CPU name? xb Twin CPU's address? Network mask? Name used when the CPU role is MAIN? xmb Address used when the CPU role is MAIN? The twin cpu network mask can be different
Full IP configuration of CS Management of CPU A (cont.) Local router setup ========== Default router name? routera The name you gave isn't in our hosts database. Do you want to add it and so give the corresponding address? y Default router address? Twin router setup ================= Default router name? routerb The name you gave isn't in our hosts database. Do you want to add it and so give the corresponding address? y Default router address? Please wait, working... The setup has been correctly achieved. Security ==== Do you want to enhance security (y/n, default is y)? n 5 You have to define the router for the local and the remote CS.
