2 Datalogger for Vector Magnetometer Outdoor dataloggers (2 pieces manufactured) for magnetometers with digital output (RS232 interface). Based on PIC32, includes SD card logging, OLED display, GPS for time synchronization and position location, non-magnetic remote control for manual scalar calibration of vector magnetometers. Complete firmware development (thoroughly tested during many measurement sessions and improved afterwards) Display Module for Vector Magnetometer Simple three channel data acquisition unit for vector magnetometers with analog output. Based on 3x ADS1225, Atmel ATSAM3X8 microcontroller and 128x64 OLED display with SD card data storage.

3 FPGA Controlled Magnetometer with Digital Output Concept testing of FPGA based (with soft-core processor) fluxgate magnetometer with partial compensation of the measured magnetic field using high precise DA converter. Analyses of noise sources, measurements of LTC6655 voltage reference noise... Current Source for a Test Coil System Partial development of electronics and firmware for a desk-top highly stable and precise three channel current source for 3D coil system (user interface, main control unit and digitally controlled current sources developed by student - power sources developed by supervisor). Based on STM32, AD5791 and LTC Fully functional and calibrated.

4 Modular fluxgate magnetometer with digital output Fluxgate magnetometer with OLED display, SD card logging, RS232 and USB interfaces and wide power supply voltage input range. Possibility to connect GPS receiver for time synchronization and location estimation. Controlled by STM32L4xx. Intelligent Power Bank for Magnetometers Development of a Li-ion based high capacity power source for outdoor use with MAGLAB s vector magnetometers. First version based on Texas Instruments BQ40Z60 (did not turn out very well...), then switched to less integrated solution with LTC4009, discrete components balancer and STM32L433.

5 Master s degree Dual Head Vector AMR Magnetometer High precise vector magnetometer with several possible modifications of sensor heads (based on Sensitec or Honeywell AMR sensors, with individual or vectorial compensation of a measured magnetic field). Analog signal processing, ADS1278 ADC (8 simultaneous 24-bit channels..) and PIC32MX for control and communication (USB). Lots of measurements (noise, linearity, temperature dependence..) and calibrations done. System for Automatic Take-off and Landing of an UAV for Exterior Monitoring of Buildings Ultrasonic and GPS based navigation for large UAV take-off and landing. Atmel AVR MCU.

6 Quasi-definitive geomagnetic data production Work for the Geophysical Institute of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic - JAVA based software development and measurements of magnetic moments of various equipment (laptops, tablets...) Satellite Attitude Control Magnetometer Fluxgate magnetometer with digital data output - designed to survive harsh space environment. Development of a testing equipment (programmable current source and data-loggers) to support radiation testing (using Co-60 gamma source Prazdroj at the Řež scientific center).

7 Wireless Data Acquisition System with Low Magnetic Contamination Three channel data acquisition system based on ADS1281, Atmel MCU and ZigBee transceivers built to support magnetic scalar calibrations using computer controllable non-magnetic positioning platform. Testing of suitable power sources, noise and linearity measurements. Multipurpose Data Visualization and Recording Unit for Aircraft and Industrial Use Tablet -like data display and SD card logger with various interfaces (RS232, 485, Ethernet, CAN). Based on STM32F439 and TFT display (800x480, without driver). It has internal Li-Ion battery pack with integrated fuel-gauge and charger.

8 Data Acquisition System for Vector Magnetometers SD card data-logger and display for vectorial magnetometers with analog (3x ±10 V) or digital (RS232) data output. It has simultaneous data sampling in case of the analog input (based on ADS1274). MCU - STM32F4 and graphical OLED display. Magnetic Gradiometer for Car Detection and Speed Measurements - currently in progress Based on fluxgate/amr sensors and STM32

9 Other (student) projects Improved version of display and logger for magnetometers with analog output (3x ±10 V +power output ±12V@1W) The original version developed as a bachelor thesis project proved to be extremely useful during everyday laboratory measurements with Billingsley (TFM65, TFM100) and Stefan-Mayer (now Sensys FGM3D) magnetometers so we developed a slightly modified version (with a new DCDC converter, better mechanical conception and some new little features). DRV425 based magnetic probe with USB interface and LabVIEW Software Compact and easily usable tool for orientation magnetic field measurements (DC-30 khz, ±1.2mT). Based almost entirely on Texas Instruments hardware (DRV425 + THS ADS127L01 + REF MSP432P401...). It uses nice LabVIEW based software for data visualization (time and spectral charts) and logging.

10 Magnetic levitation demonstration Nice tool to show magnetic forces interaction and also some control concepts. A set of permanent magnets is levitating due to repulsing force of other group of permanent magnets. The levitating magnets are stabilized in position by PID feedback loop - 4 Hall probes are used as sensors and 4 electromagnets as actuators. It is very energy efficient in this configuration as the main force comes from the permanent magnets. Team project - remote monitoring system based on STM32F746 Disco kit Development of a remote surveillance system for distant monitoring of a thermomagnetic treatment procedures (equipped with electric current, temperature and other sensors, Ethernet interface)

11 Thermopile array sensor demonstration Simple application to present newly available type of sensor - thermopile array for low resolution thermal vision - security and non-destructive diagnostics application. Based on Omron s D6T-44L-06, STM32 MCU and RGB LED display. Development of a stepper motor control unit Team project (4 students), based on DRV8711 and PIC18F - circuit and PCB design, debugging, firmware development and testing.

12 Display unit for a triaxial vector fluxgate magnetometer Hardware based on STM32F746 Discovery board, firmware developed in mbed. Installed in our MAGLAB s noticeboard in our corridor - as an interactive presentation of our fluxgate sensors (it monitors the ambient magnetic field - influenced by passing people - or better to say by the ferromagnetic things they carry...) Specific PID temperature controller It was used to thermostat magnetometer sensor heads during scalar calibration procedures (to get sensitivity vs. temperature dependence). PIC32MX MCU and OLED display. Several RS232 ports were used to communicate with other instruments and PC. Some of the projects (actually most of them) were extended beyond the standard project length and the (fullyfeatured) firmware, control software, measurements or calibrations were finished under small, various length, paid contracts at the department. Looking for highly motivated students who are willing to work hard and get excellent experience in the field of analog and digital electronics, (magnetic) sensors, microcontrollers, programming and measurements...
