Description Monitored Parameter Typical Enabling Conditions Monitor Sequence Execution Frequency Typical Duration Dash Lamps Engine Reaction SPN 625/FMI 2 CPC4 Message Not Received Or Has Stopped Arriving CAN Communication 2 Seconds MIL, CEL 1. Are there any battery voltage faults (any SPN 168 / FMI faults)? a. Yes; troubleshoot battery voltage faults first. b. No; Go to step Has the ACM2.1/MCM2.1/or CPC4 been recently programmed? a. Yes; clear the fault codes. If faults do not become active, release the vehicle. If faults become active, Go to step 3. b. No; clear the fault codes. If faults do not become active, release the vehicle. If faults become active, Go to step 3. NOTE: Main battery power must be left ON. NOTE: The five minute time-frame allows the ACM2.1 to go completely offline. 3. Disconnect the ACM pin connector. 4. Check ACM2.1 internal terminating resistor by measuring and recording the resistance across pins 10 and 20 of the ACM pin connector. a. If the resistance is 120 ± 10 ohms, Go to step 8. b. If the resistance is not 120 ± 10 ohms, replace the ACM Disconnect the CPC4 electrical harness connector #3. 4 All information subject to change without notice. 3 6. Check CPC4 internal terminating resistor by measuring and recording the resistance across pins 19 and 21 of the CPC4 electrical harness connector cavity #3. a. If the resistance is 120 ± 10 ohms, Go to step 10. b. If the resistance is not 120 ± 10 ohms, replace the CPC4. 7. Check for continuity between CPC4 connector #3 pin 19 and ACM pin connector pin 20. a. If there is continuity, Go to step 11. b. If there is no continuity, repair the wire between CPC4 connector #3 pin 19 and the ACM pin connector pin Measure and record the resistance between CPC4 connector #3 pin 21 and ACM pin connector pin 10. a. If there is continuity, Go to step 12. b. If there is no continuity, repair the wire between CPC4 connector #3 pin 21 and ACM pin connector pin Measure and record the resistance between CPC4 connector #3 pin 19 and MCM pin connector pin 19. a. If there is continuity, Go to step 13. b. If there is no continuity, repair the wire between CPC4 connector #3 pin 19 and MCM pin connector pin Measure and record the resistance between CPC4 connector #3 pin 21 and MCM pin connector pin 13. a. If there is continuity, Go to step 14. b. If there is no continuity, repair the wire between CPC4 connector #3 pin 21 and MCM pin connector pin Measure and record the resistance between of the MCM pin connector pin 19 and of the ACM pin connector pin 20. a. If there is continuity, Go to step 15. b. If there is no continuity, repair the wire between MCM pin connector pin 19 and of the ACM pin connector pin Measure and record the resistance between the MCM pin connector pin 13 and of the ACM pin connector pin 10. a. If there is continuity, contact the Detroit Customer Support Center at b. If there is no continuity, repair the wire between MCM pin connector pin 13 and of the ACM pin connector pin Disconnect the ACM pin connector. 14. Turn the ignition ON (key ON, engine OFF). 15. 5 3 SPN 625/FMI 9 MY13 This diagnostic is typically Motor Control Module (MCM2.1) Message Not Received or Has Stopped Arriving. Description Monitored Parameter Typical Enabling Conditions Monitor Sequence Execution Frequency Typical Duration Dash Lamps Engine Reaction SPN 625/FMI 9 MCM2.1 Message Not Received Or Has Stopped Arriving CAN Communication 2 Seconds MIL, CEL 1. Are there any battery voltage faults (any SPN 168 FMI faults)? a. Yes; troubleshoot battery voltage faults first. b. No; Go to step Has the ACM2.1/MCM2.1/or CPC4 been recently programmed? a. Yes; clear the fault codes. If faults do not become active, release the vehicle. If faults become active, Go to step 3. b. No; clear the fault codes. If faults do not become active, release the vehicle. If faults become active, Go to step 3. NOTE: Main battery power must be left ON. Disconnect the MCM pin connector. 5. Measure and record the resistance across pins 13 and 19 of the MCM pin electrical harness connector. a. If the resistance is greater than 80 ohms, Go to step 6. b. If the resistance is 60 ± 20 ohms, reconnect the MCM pin connector and Go to step 16. c. If the resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace the Powertrain Controller Area Network (PTCAN) harness. Refer to OEM procedures. All information subject to change without notice. 7

If the resistance is 120 ± 10 ohms, Go to step 8. b. If the resistance is not 120 ± 10 ohms, replace the ACM Disconnect the CPC4 electrical harness connector #3. 9. Check CPC4 internal terminating resistor by measuring and recording the resistance across pins 19 and 21 of the CPC4 electrical harness connector cavity #3. a. If the resistance is 120 ± 10 ohms, Go to step 10. b. If the resistance is not 120 ± 10 ohms, replace the CPC Check for continuity between CPC4 connector #3 pin 19 and ACM pin connector pin 20. a. If there is continuity, Go to step 11. b. If there is no continuity, repair the wire between CPC4 connector #3 pin 19 and the ACM pin connector pin Measure and record the resistance between CPC4 connector #3 pin 21 and ACM pin connector pin 10. a.
