1 PICnet System - PN Digiterm PN DIGITERM - thermal setting and room management module The PN DIGITERM module comprises a DIN-mounted (6m) module for device connection and a built-in display and command module in a 503 box. The module provides thermal setting and overall room automation management (excluding access control) and thus allows for cost-effective hotel installations. The PN DIGITERM module offers several attractive benefits: - all room automation features are autonomously managed by the module with no workload on the Master module, which implies a faster system response time and requires users to perform no complex programming - the module only takes one bus address, so that small installations can be created with small and cheaper Master module sizes - besides application-dedicated resources, the module features many freely programmable resources, which can be used to customise room automation systems. Each module includes an addressing button, power and bus communication LEDs, and input and output status LEDs. Activation confirmed when the fourth decimal point on the display blinks). - Room temperature adjustment in a pre-set range around set temperature. - Display of set temperature / room temperature / time on a 4-digit display - Automatic adjustment of display light intensity based on room lighting - Optional control of courtesy light as a regular lighting device in step-by-step mode NOTE: the room temperature sensor (cod. 4 CONTROL PANEL The display and control panel provides the following features: - Climate control ON/OFF - Fan-coil speed adjustment - Do not disturb button - Room alarm reset - Room made up sign - Room temperature adjustment in a pre-set range around set temperature. - Display of set temperature / room temperature / time on a 4-digit display - Automatic adjustment of display light intensity based on room lighting The room control panel is equipped with a 4-digit display, two temperature adjustment buttons, one do not disturb button and one fan-coil speed adjustment button. The fan-coil speed selected (minimum-mediummaximum) is shown by one of the three LEDs above the button switching on. In case the time is not set correctly, it will display The display will start showing the correct time as soon as it receives it from the system s Master module; of course, the time on the PN MAS module should be set correctly, in case it is not, please adjust it using the commands in the user interface menu or directly from the PN LINK or SIMPLY software. Alternatively, suitable setting during system programming allows to display the room temperature as detected by the PN NTC room probe, either in C or Fahrenheit. A special register allows to add an offset between the temperature displayed and the measured value. A light-intensity probe next to the display detects ambient light and allows for automatic display intensity adjustment, in order to provide good readability during the day and not to disturb guests at night. By means of setting the right registers during commissioning, it is also possible to adjust the display s light intensity both in daytime and at night-time. SINTHESI s.r.l. 5 For any special needs, or for energy-saving purposes, it is also possible to completely disable the display s operation or time its functioning: upon pressing any button, the display is activated for a programmable amount of time (5 seconds by default) and then fades out. TEMPERATURE SETTING Regardless of the display mode chosen, when pressing one of the two temperature setting buttons, the display shows the room temperature pre-defined set-point (in C or Fahrenheit depending on the mode selected). This value is the default temperature set by the reception desk in the temperature field Occupied room in the supervision software. By pressing the adjustment buttons, users can modify the set-point by increasing or decreasing it in steps of 0,5 C (or 1 F) in a range between 5 and 35 C (or the equivalent in F). However, during commissioning it is possible to limit the guest-set adjustment range (e.g. +/- 3 degrees around the default value); however, this limit is not notified to the user. Once the temperature has been adjusted, the display goes back to showing the previous screen, either the time or the room temperature. Based on the set temperature and on the room temperature detected, the system drives the fan-coil until the room reaches the desired temperature. When the guest walks into the room (and inserts the badge in its holder) the system sets the fan-coil at the minimum speed. Guests can modify this setting by pressing the button on the room control panel, in order either to operate the fan-coil at a different speed or to switch it off. By pressing the button several times, the desired speed is selected, following the sequence off minimum medium maximum. The LEDs above the speed selection button show the set value. When the room temperature reaches the set value, the system switches the fan-coil off and the LED of the last speed set blinks to indicate that it has switched off upon reaching the desired temperature. When the guest leaves the room (badge out of its holder) the system sets the free room temperature point as defined in the supervision software, and the fan-coil speed varies automatically based on the difference between the set temperature and the temperature detected. This allows to bring the room to the desired temperature in the shortest possible time (for example, when a vacant room is reserved and it must be brought to comfort temperature as quickly as possible). Regardless of the set-point value and of the speed of fan-coils operating when the guest is not present (free or vacant room), as soon as the guest walks into the room the fan-coil speed is always set at the minimum, while the pre-set temperature goes back to the last value adjusted by the guest (who left the room and then came back) or to the occupied room default value (the guest left, the room became vacant and then was reserved again). 6 CLIMATE CONTROL BLOCK In order to minimize energy consumption, it is possible to stop climate control when the door or window are open. If the necessary parameters are set at commissioning, the fan-coil can be switched off after a certain delay from the moment the door and/or window are opened (by default, 60 seconds and 120 seconds for the window and door respectively). Both delays can be modified. As soon as the door or window are closed, climate control is switched back on. If climate control is blocked because of an open door or window, the word OPEN appears on the room control panel, so as to avoid any misunderstanding and to report any malfunctioning of the magnetic contact installed. The word OPEN will remain on the display until the door or window is closed, but the panel can still be used to adjust settings. DO NOT DISTURB COMMAND When pressing the Do not disturb button, the Do not disturb mode is activated. This message is displayed by the supervision software to the reception desk, the guest-present LED on the badge reader outside the room blinks (if applicable) and the dnd writing appears on the room panel display: The dnd sign remains on the display as long as the Do not disturb mode remains active, however it is still possible to modify the set temperature and the fan-coil speed. The Do not disturb mode is reset manually by pressing the button again, or automatically as soon as the guest leaves the room. 7 BATHROOM ALARM If the guest pulls the bathroom cord to report an alarm, this message is displayed through the supervision software at the reception desk, the alarm LED is activated on the badge reader outside the room (if applicable) and the ALL writing appears on the room panel display: The alarm mode display remains active as long as the alarm continues, and all functions of the panel are blocked in this mode. The alarm is reset by pressing both temperature adjustment buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds. SERVICE STAFF When the staff has finished cleaning a room, they can inform the reception desk that the room has been made up by pressing the Do not disturb button for longer than 3 seconds. 8 IN-ROOM DEVICES A guest entering a room is detected by means of swiping the badge on the outside badge reader or through a magnetic contact on the door (if applicable). When this happens, the system: Switches on the courtesy light for a pre-set amount of time (by default 3 seconds) Activates power in the room for a pre-set amount of time (by default 60 seconds) so that if the guest does not stay in the room, power is disabled after that time has elapsed The fan-coil speed is set at the minimum and the guest s presence in the room is reported. In case there is no badge reader or door contact, it is not possible to detect the guest entering the room, therefore the courtesy light cannot be switched on, nor is it possible to enable power. Anyhow, to facilitate inserting the card in the badge holder, a blinking light goes on that allows to easily locate the holder even in the dark. When the badge is inserted in its holder: The fan-coil speed is set at the minimum and the guest-present flag is activated (to correct any non-report on the guest entering the room) As long as the badge is inserted, power is available. If the badge is removed from its holder: Automatic management of the fan-coil speed is activated, the guest-present signal is reset, and the do not disturb signal is reset, if active.
