As the downward compatibility with the predecessor model in ensured, different firmware releases in different deliveries do not mean any restrictions. If a uniform release date must be ensured for an order comprising several deliveries, this must be indicated in the purchase order.

5 5/25 IRMA MATRIX R2 Data Sheet 2 Brief description The IRMA MATRIX sensor is a product developed by iris-gmbh for the purpose of passenger counting. It serves for determination of the number of passengers boarding the vehicle and alighting from it. For this purpose it is installed above passage areas through which the passengers must pass when using public transport, e.g. above the doors of a bus. 2.1 Measuring principle In the area of the polycarbonate window of the sensor there are two zones with infrared LEDs arranged in a matrix pattern which fully illuminate a certain door area and thus detect motion in it (detection range). If an object enters the detection range of the sensor, the infrared light emitted is reflected and again received by the light-sensitive matrix consisting of 20 x 25 pixels. The light-sensitive matrix is located in the centre of the polycarbonate sensor window. In accordance with the method for distance measuring using the signal travel time (Time of Flight - TOF in English) the sensor determines the distances of each of the 500 pixels simultaneously, basing the calculation on the phase difference and the travel time difference between the light rays emitted and those received. In correspondence with the 3-dimensional shape of the object the distances will vary, providing an image of the object revealing its individual shape. If this image is recorded with a PC e.g. during a test ride, the user will get a film yielding a geometrically exact rendering of the motions of objects in the detection range of the sensor (3D image streaming). 2.2 Mounting IRMA MATRIX IRMA MATRIX sensors can be mounted in the upper part of door trims (coves 1 ) either flush countersunk or on the surface (sensor versions DIST500-F in flush mount version and DIST500-A in surface mount version). For sensor mounting additional attachment sets are required: For DIST500-A (surface mount version) see FIGURE 3, page 8. For DIST500-F (flush mount version) see FIGURE 4, page 9. When the IRMA MATRIX sensor is mounted with connector scon-f-12(-poe), no attachment set is required. The shape of the scon-f-12(-poe) is flat and adapted to the sensor geometry which allows the housing to simultaneously provide for the attachment. The shape of this sensor permits a reduction of the required installation depth behind the cove. Only one IRMA MATRIX sensor per standard vehicle door is provided for. 1 A cove is a paneling in the vehicle, here in particular above the door, into which the sensor is fitted.

6 6/25 IRMA MATRIX R2 Data Sheet 2.3 Connecting IRMA MATRIX The connection of the IRMA MATRIX sensors to the power supply and the communication architecture (CAN BUS or Ethernet) will be made with special connectors which are available in different versions and for CAN and/or Ethernet communication. For an overview of the connectors on offer and their connection options see TABLE 1, page 15. Additional interfaces are possible, see SECTION 6.3 on page Configurating IRMA MATRIX The IRMA MATRIX sensor can be configured comfortably using the "DIST500-Configuration " software. 13 13/25 IRMA MATRIX R2 Data Sheet 4 Connection with connector The power supply and data connection of the sensor are realized via specialized scon connectors. Two different versions are available. 4.1 scon-s (standard) The scon-s is used for the electrical connection of IRMA MATRIX sensors. It can be used for all IRMA MATRIX sensor versions. The sensor interfaces are routed outwards in the form of connecting lines with M12 connectors. Different types are used, depending on the required communication form (CAN or Ethernet). The connectors of the scon-s series are available with connection cables in different cable qualities and types, which are marked with -Knor K01-K05 in this document, s. SECTION 6.4, p. 24. For the selection see TABLE 1, page The scon-f-12 The scon-f-12 has two interfaces in the form of M12 connections which can alternatively be used for communication via the CAN BUS or the Ethernet architecture. For selection see TABLE 1, page scon-f-12-poe The scon-f-12-poe has an interface in the form of an M12 connector that can only be used for communication via Ethernet architecture. At the same time, voltage is fed in via this Ethernet interface. For selection see TABLE 1, page 15.

16 16/25 IRMA MATRIX R2 Data Sheet 4.5 Power supply of sensors The power supply of the IRMA MATRIX sensors is effected via the on-board network. The nominal voltage is 24 V DC. scon-f-12-poe operates with 48 V DC, which are generated in the switch and converted back to 24 V in the scon-f-12-poe. It is not permissible to use 12 V DC, this voltage will require the use of a boost converter. The connection to the power supply must be protected by a fuse or an automatic circuit breaker. Counting must be ensured even with the vehicle engine switched off (e. g. at the terminal stop). For this purpose it is necessary to have the power supply of the sensors after-running for approx. 30 minutes. If no 30-minute power after-running can be provided in the vehicle, a timing relay which can be set to at least 30 minutes (dropout/off delay) must be used for the after-run of the power supply. The switch-off delay of the timer relay is activated at the moment the ignition voltage is no longer applied. 17 17/25 IRMA MATRIX R2 Data Sheet Installation on the CAN BUS: In the case of IRMA MATRIX sensor operation via the CAN interface, power supply and data traffic are effected simultaneously via the CAN cable of the connector (for assignment see section 4.6.2, page 18). The two CAN interfaces of the scon-f-12 can be used for the extension of the CAN BUS. Due to the internal wiring of the scon-f-12 unit a coupler is no longer necessary Ethernet installations: The power supply of the IRMA MATRIX sensor via the Ethernet interface is effected via the power supply as follows: with connector scon-s-eth-22-kn-1-2m for the open end of the connection cable (see TABLE 4, page 19) or with connector scon-s-can-eth-23-k2-x-y using the CAN interface of the connector (for assignment see section 4.6.2, page 18). with connector scon-f-12(-poe) via the CAN interface with No., respectively via the Ethernet interface Nr. In order to simplify sensor integration, an API (Application Programming Interface) is made available for the CAN and Ethernet installations. The API allows high-level access to the sensor, its data and configuration. This reduces the programming work to a minimum. The orders to be used are independent of the transmission medium. iris-gmbh makes completely compiled libraries for all current operating system derivatives available (Linux, Windows [also embedded variants], Mac OS X). 9 K01-03: applies to "scon-s-eth-22-k2-1m-2m", see also SECTION 6.4, p K04, 05: applies to "scon-s-eth-22-k3-1m-2m"
