In this section, the necessary steps are described to assign an IP address to a computer and initial controller configuration 3.1 Network Configuration on a Windows Computer (Windows XP) The example described here is based on Window XP. Slight differences will be noticed in some dialog boxes, displays, and descriptions when the computer is configured with a different version of the Windows operating system. Even with a different version of Windows, the configuration principals are the same. 1. Click on the button, followed by Control Panel, Network Connections. 2. Double-click on the existing network connection icon and select Properties. This will open the Network dialog box shown following. 3. Look up for Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from the list as shown in the above diagram. If the component is found, highlight it by single clicking on it. 4. With the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) - component highlighted, click to define the TCP/IP Properties. 5. Select Use the following IP address radio button. This will enable the fields for IP Address and Subnet Mask. 6. Enter the IP Address and Subnet Mask Address. 13 Access Easy Master Controller Setting the TCP/IP Address on a PC and AEMC Configuration en How to Set Initial AEMC Configuration Once the IP address of the PC is configured, you could now use this PC to configure the IP address of the AEMC. The controller's IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address will need to be set before installing the controller on a customer's network. Follow the instructions in this section to configure the controller. 1. Connect the PC directly to the Access Easy Master Controller using the crossover network cable. 2. The computer that you use should be configured for the network. We suggest the computer be configured for: IP address , Subnet mask Gateway Use the Crossover cable to connect the computer with the controller. 3. If not already done, power up the controller at this time. The CPU card will perform a power-up self-test. This test takes about 90 seconds to complete. When the self-test is finished, LEDs 1, 2 and 3 should alternately flash in the lower corner of the Secure/Communication Card. i NOTICE! During the power-up self test duration, no communication with the controller is possible. Wait until the self-test is complete before proceeding. 4. On the computer, open a Web browser application (either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) and enter the controller's deafult IP address ( ) in the browser's address or location bar.
