3. Components Data Input/Set The data input/setting method of each component in LS Power Solution is explained using the following example system. After composing the example system in drawing screen each component data as follows input For data input, user can use database or input directly and component of example system inputs directly. If data entry is ended, a component name and main information are updated on the component left and right side of drawing window, respectively.

1) Component input window open The method of input window open can be divided into two groups. One is a mouse double clicking and the other is the execution of "Registration information" using the mouse's right button. Use the component double click

Executing the registration information

2) Master file setting Before starting simulation, the master file's information (base capacity, base frequency and fault resistance) should do it first. This should confirm because it is a part that can not be fertilized if falling in short circuit calculation step once. In the case of base capacity, by 100,000 kva (100 MVA) it was established and user can change the setting values according to target system. In the case of base frequency, it was established by 60Hz and selects the 50 or 60Hz according to target system. In case of fault resistance, the default value is 0ohm and the random value is selected by user.

2) Data input/set of utility bus(p1) Basic input of utility bus consists of four 4 items; name, system voltage, 3phase short circuit capacity and X/R(+)(positive sequence X (reactance) and R (resistance) ratio). At the moment you know information that is added much except 3phase short circuit capacity

Occasion that you know % impedance value

3) Data input/set of generator(g1) Basis input items of generator is name, system voltage (it must input system voltage because it is part that create voltage of system in case of generator), generator capacity (kva), and impedance data.

In case of nameplate and system voltage are different It can be nameplate and system voltage of generator that are different and impedance conversion value changes in this case.

In case of input negative and zero sequence impedance value

Occasion that you select generator from DB This software supplies various generator data. When user does not know input data, user can choose value from generator DB. Data supplied in software is offering general value by each capacity and cannot read this value coincides with generator data of system.

4) Scenario simulation function of generator In this software, user can use the scenario simulation function at generator and breaker. There is radio button that can choose operation/stop on upside screen of generator and default value is operation. If it is use scenario function, user is in advantage that can consult together various system states using identical file.

5) Data input/set of transformer(t1) In the case of transformer, setting methods of the input data can be divided into two groups. One is when select transformer in transformer DB and another is when user inputs directly. Input item of transformer is a name, transformer capacity(kva), transformer connection type, the secondary system voltage, % impedance etc.. and so on.

User inputs necessary value on his own

Occasion that nameplate voltage differs from system voltage In the case of single phase transformer, you should decide to omit because it is equal with three-phase transformer except there is no selection of connection type.

6) Data input/set of low voltage circuit breaker(b1) As you see in picture, input item of circuit breaker is a name, rated current(a) and the rate of margin. Also, selection item is protection target, number of poles, kind of circuit breaker and Icu or Ics.

Protection target's alteration Protection target exist line protection, motor protection and instantaneous protection and user chooses according to the protection target of circuit breaker. Default value was selected by line protection.

Change of margin Rate of margin is considered as the circuit breaker when choosed automatic. Software may choose breaker that has suitable capacity to 10kA' fault current if it was established rate of margin by 100% and the fault current of circuit breaker location was calculated by 10 ka. The other side, software may choose breaker of capacity that is suitable to 15 ka' fault current if established rate of margin increases by 150%.

7) Scenario simulation function of circuit breaker In this software, we will explain by scenario simulation function at generator and breaker. There is a radio button that can choose close/open at left side middle of input screen of breaker and default value is close. If user uses scenario function, he is in advantage that can consult together various system states using identical file.

8) Data input/set of 3phase cable(w1) In the case of 3phase cable, setting methods of the input data can be divided into two groups. One is when select cable in cable DB and another is when user inputs directly. User input is a name, line length, ohm or % impedance and thermal capacity of cable.

Occasion that you select cable in DB

Occasion that you select % impedance per unit km

9) Data input/set of electric motor(m1) User input is a name, motor capacity (kw or kva unit), % impedance data, efficiency, and power factor. User selects combo button in case of system voltage, automatic allocation by software, differs with nameplate voltage. Also, user can select the number of poles and grounding system.

In case of selecting electric motor in DB

In case of inputting negative and zero sequence impedance value

10) Motor protection device (MC, MS, TOR or EMPR) selection There is the part establishing a motor protection device(m/c, M/S, TOR and EMPR) On the right of motor protection device establishment screen, the name of final selected devices is shown.

4. Skeleton Checking If you achieve short circuit calculation clicking executable practice toolbar's 2nd die icon, the skeleton checking (error search) is achieved before short circuit calculation. The skeleton search checks out the following errors. 1) Occasion that rated current of source-side CB is more than thermal capacity of load-side cable -Solution: select the lower rating of CB or the higher thermal capacity of cable 2) Occasion that rated current of source-side CB is less than rated current of load-side motor -Solution: select the higher rated CB or the lower rated motor 3) Occasion that necessary data is empty in short circuit calculation -Solution: inputs or selects empty data In the case of example system, send the following result of skeleton checking if you achieve short circuit calculation. There s a method examining two errors. One is that user confirms the error information opening input window and the other is that control dialog window directly in error information window. You must choose with next picture If you want to open relevant component dialog window directly in error information window.

If you double click the selected state by a mouse, the dialog window of relevant component with next picture open.

If you calculate M1's rated current of load-side motor, the rated current of the motor becomes about 185A because the voltage is 400V in kVA capacities. Therefore, the error message appears because breaker CB4's rated current is smaller than the load-side motor. If you raise CB4's rated current by 190A and achieve short circuit calculation again, you can see that the number of error message is decreased. Similarly, if you open relevant error message double clicking, breaker CB1's rated current is 400A and the thermal capacity of cable W1 is 390A. Therefore, skeleton checking process informs user that the rated current of circuit breaker is higher than the thermal capacity of load-side cable. Therefore, error message doesn t appear if it heightens the thermal capacity of load-side cable by 400A and achieves short circuit calculation again. The short circuit calculation result will be displayed on drawing screen as following. Also, cross stripes in drawing state disappears.

Screen occurs following change on the whole if it finishes debugging through Skeleton checking and achieves short circuit calculation. If you open component input window in this state, there is following change. That is, the save button does not permit any change that can affect in short circuit calculation.

User must return in again Step 1 as following if he wants change of input data. In this case, change of input data is permitted because save button as following is activated if reopen component inputs window.

Among all components, a circuit breaker is permitted to be changed after breakdown calculation. Like following picture, the kind of circuit breaker can be changed after short circuit calculation.

6. CB Automatic Selection If you execute practice toolbar's 3rd die button, CB automatic choice is achieved. In the case of practice toolbar, Step 1(system drawing) and Step 4(protection coordination decision) are activated if progress in Step 3 and second-stage become inactivation. If achieve CB automatic choice, screen will show following change. If you open the dialog window of chosen breaker, following screen appears. It is an occasion opened CB1 of example system. CB1 established a kind of breaker by ACB before achieve breaker automatic choice and rated current established by 400A. Also, a short circuit current is calculated by about 42 ka. Also, it is considered as 42 ka in breaker automatic choice because the rate of margin is 100%. The breaker names(internal red-lined box) of following picture are candidates of ACB that satisfy all conditions of singularity and the selection means the nearest breaker among them.

7. CB manual selection The ways to change auto-selected CB manually are the same as follows. Selection change using mouse If users double click of mouse on one of the CB list and save it, the name of the CB located in the drawing is updated as following picture. The Way to change CB type The second method is to change CB type manually. The next image shows the case to change CB1 from ACB type to MCCB electronic type. The most adaptive CB of MCCB electronic type is chosen as following picture and user can notice updated name of the new CB, saving the new CB.

The Way to change Icu or Ics The last manual method is to change Icu and Ics selection. It is for value of Icu and Ics different according to CB type, but normally Ics is 25 ~100% of Icu. So, new CB list will be made as the selection of the values.

8. T-C Curve Viewer It is possible to see T-C curve Viewer after finishing CB selection as it had been introduced already. T-C curve viewer has operation on three components. (Circuit breaker, Transformer, Motor) -T-C curve of CB consists of Max/Min two curves. -T-C curve of Transformer consists of damage curve and inrush curve -T-C curve of motor consists of characteristic curves such as motor starting and TR protective devices. In order to execute T-C curve viewer, first of all, users select a component to see and then click T-C curve button in the option command of toolbar or use right button of mouse. For example, in case of selecting two CBs as follows

Click right button of mouse Or use toolbar menu

Users can see the following display on T-C curve.

Here, selecting combo button in the lower left-hand corner, a related T-C curve is displayed as follows. Like above image, the red colored curve indicates a component selected by mouse and related rating and value are displayed in the Tab setting. And also display of T-C curve is changeable according to the variation of Tab setting value.

Users should click its Delete Curve button to remove any T-C curve in the display window.

If you want to add another T-C curve to the viewer, you may select a component and execute Add T-C curve command by mouse right click during operation of T-C curve viewer.

Users should select the check button in the same way to see an added curve.

In order to print out the image of T-C curve, users click T-C curve image command button and then the following viewer program to do printout jobs is shown.

9. Protective Coordination Protective coordination of low voltage system may be widely divided to two sections, Cascading type and Discrimination type and they are summarized as follows. - Cascading: A protective device in the lower side (or load side) cannot interrupt all of the fault current within its self-protective area and the other device in the upper side may be operated concurrently or more quickly. It means for the latter device to be in charge of the obligation of removing fault of the lower device. It has advantage to protect power system economically but makes reliability of power system operation declined. - Discrimination: A protective device in the lower side (or load side) can interrupt all of the fault current within its self-protective area and the other device in the upper side may not be operated at that time. It has very high reliability of power system operation but is too much of an expense. After Completing in CB selection, protective coordination is proceeding by performing the forth dice button in the toolbar as follows. And then users have to choose one of two kinds of protective coordination, explained above. C in the picture indicates Cascading and D indicates Discrimination. First, Discrimination type is selected as follows. Next, users should choose two CBs (example CB2, CB5) to see coordination by mouse click in condition of Shift key on. After selecting CBs, pop-up menu is shown up after you press mouse right button.

Selecting protective coordination analysis, the following message is displayed. Here, Coordination is validate. means to make it coordinated based on the low voltage CB protective coordination standard of LS industrial systems. And Select the other CBs? message asks users to replace one CB manually among the coordination possible CB lists in the lower side without changing upper side CB.

If users select No, message in the screen will disappear and upper/lower side CB will change its color into red and blue color respectively. Otherwise, selecting No message in the screen will disappear and CB component input window will open in the screen. The CB list shows arranged lower side CBs possible to coordinate with the upper side CB. Thus, users can change CB selection in the same way as CB manual selection.

Protective coordination analysis on CB1 and CB2 appears in the screen as follows. This combination is not found in the authorized table. means that there is no CB based on the low voltage CB protective coordination standard of LS industrial systems and LS industrial systems can not assure protective coordination on these CBs. In case of that, CB color will be changed into pink.

Protective coordination analysis on CB3 and CB6 appears in the screen as follows. Here, Coordination is invalidate. means that these two CBs are impossible to coordinate but there are CBs based on the low voltage CB protective coordination standard of LS industrial systems. In other words, LS industrial systems can assure that the CBs do not coordinate each other. And also, In case of that, CB color will be changed into pink.

10. REPORT Users can see and print out the report after the fault calculation. If a user clicks the Report button of toolbar in the above picture, the report manager is able to be executed anytime after the fault calculation step as a following picture. The report manager is divided into two parts as follows - Project information: title, writer, company and abstract of the report, impedance display type (Per Unit or %) - Option setting of the fault calculation: bus selection, fault type(3-phase, line to line, line to ground, Double line to ground), a, b, c(r, S, T) analysis, one-phase divergent branch, and branch current of faulted bus (limit the number of buses to 10 for branch output) Project information which users input will be displayed like the next picture.

This image is to show Add All and Remove All functions of bus selection. If a user clicks Add All Button, All buses will be displayed in the Selected buses list. And Remove All button is using for removing all buses in the Selected buses list. The use of Add and Remove functions is shown as below.

Add command button is activated when you select any bus of Selecting buses list and a selected bus of the list is shown up in Selected buses list after clicking Add button. Also, remove command button is used for removing a selected bus of Selected buses list. Users can select options of the fault calculation using check button of the report manager and the output of the fault calculation is displayed in the report form as the following image.

Users can convert the output of the fault calculation to the Excel file by Convert To Excel command button in the upper-left corner of the report window shown above. The next image shows the excel file converted from the output form of the S/W.

In order to zoom in power system drawing, users execute the drawing print command in the upper-left corner of the report window and the output of the command is displayed as follow. Command buttons such as print, zoom in/out and page move are deployed in the upper-left corner of the report window.

11. DB management This S/W is supporting DB management functions that users can add, edit and remove user defined data.
