1 Quick Connectors for PROFIBUS SUBC-PLUS-PROFIB/.... Description The new SUBC-PLUS-PROFIB/... SUB-D series has been specifically designed for use in PROFIBUS systems up to 2 Mbps. It enables convenient and quick connection of the incoming and outgoing bus cable under field conditions. The range consists of six quick connectors - the right solution for every PROFIBUS application: Angled or straight cable feed With or without programming interface Connection using spring-cage or screw-cage terminal blocks The use of connectors with spring-cage terminal blocks is preferred for PROFIBUS cables with solid copper wires. Connectors with screw-cage terminal blocks (.../SC) are designed for cables with stranded copper wires. The terminal resistor is already integrated in all versions and can be enabled externally using a slide. The outgoing bus segment is disabled simultaneously. This makes it easier to start up segment by segment and prevents incorrect termination. In addition to this, the high-quality shielded connector housing also ensures high immunity to interference even with maximum transmission rates. A special feature of the angled connector version is that the internal connection unit can be reversed. This enables you to decide locally whether the cable is to be fed from the right or the left. If it is not possible to use the angled version, the SUBC-PLUS.../AX compact connector with a straight cable feed is also available. The connectors are designed for all standard PROFIBUS cables with an outside diameter of 8 mm (0.35 in.) (type A and B). 4 Quick Connectors for PROFIBUS SUBC-PLUS SUBC-PLUS-PROFIB/(AX/) Connection Notes The following stripping tools can be used for quick and convenient stripping (Figure 09): PSM-STRIP-FC/PROFIB (Order No.: ) and QUICK-WIREFOX 6 (Order No.: ). Stripping Lengths Observe the recommended stripping lengths given in the diagrams Figure Spring-Cage Connection SUBC PLUS PROFIB/(PG) Push the stripped wires into the corresponding contacts of the connection block. The wires establish contact automatically when inserted. To release the connection, press the orange release rocker. The strain relief and the shield contact for the bus cable are established when the upper housing shell is mounted. A B 2A 2B Cable Feed The SUBC-PLUS-PROFIB connector without PG connection provides the option of a cable feed on the left or right-hand side. Upon delivery the connector is assembled for left-hand feed (Figure 0). The strain relief for the bus cable is established when the upper shell is mounted. Cable Feed The SUBC-PLUS-PROFIB/ SC connector without PG connection provides the option of a cable feed on the left or right-hand side. 6 Quick Connectors for PROFIBUS SUBC-PLUS SUBC-PLUS-PROFIB/(AX/) Bus Terminal Resistors Activating the terminal resistor and disconnecting the outgoing bus cables: The terminal resistors are activated at the start and end of the bus system using the slide (Figure 08). The connection terminals (2A/2B) for the outgoing bus cable are disconnected simultaneously. The terminal resistor must be deactivated on all other nodes of the bus system. Start End Connecting the Bus Cables Always connect the incoming bus cable to terminal connections A/B (even at the start of the bus system).
