4 Ref.id.: KS&SMS-4-MAN Standard Side 2 av 8 2. CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE DESCRIPTION The following points are given for the use of persons engaged in faultfinding procedures. All maintenance should be carried out by qualified personnel. To avoid personnel injury, do not attempt to service the system unless qualified to do so. 2.1 General Warning! Do never service system with power on, unless in special occasions when measure power is required. Then qualified personnel are required. The most common failure over time is connector and cable failure and bad wiring connections. When connector and cable failure occurs, change out with new connector or cable from spare part package according to technical manual. When bad wiring connection occurs, refit connection or change out after requirement according to service manual. To keep connectors and cables in good condition, clean and grease at least once a year. Do also grease connectors if required, when re-assembly after repair. If circuit boards in electronic bottles are damaged, change out the circuit board with a new one from spare part package and send the damaged one to factory for repair. Do not try to repair unless qualified to do so. When a failure with the system occurs, do always first try to reset the system in case of data problems. When re-assembly EL1 after service, mount the rear lid with the electronics in position according to drw. no , to get the roll & pitch sensor in correct position. The roll & pitch sensor will follow the rear lid and the electronics. There is also an opportunity to zero roll & pitch in Argus presentation program. Do also mount the front lid according to this drawing, due to the cables are fitted to the lid in this position. Be aware of the following when Taking off connectors: Inside MHDG-16-CCP fig.1 and MINM#37-CCP fig.2 connectors there are o-rings that can fall off when disassemble. NOTE! Do Not exchange power to EL1 and EL2. This can cause severe damage. Do also take care when disassemble fibre optic connector. When taking off this connector always put on dust cap fig. 3, 4 and 5. Also make sure nobody can turn power on while working with the system. 1. Check if input power on surface is OK and that GDI (Ground fault Detect Interrupt) instrument measure no ground fault. If OK go to item Check if 990 VAC fuses located in power console are OK, according to technical manual 020 Power console drawing no Remember to turn power off, when open this area! If OK, replace and go to item 3. Open the side without connectors. Do also check that main contactor is working properly. Main contactor 3. Check that power is off and disconnect main power input connector to EL1.Turn power on with connector off, and measure that powers are correct in the cable according to technical manual chapter 050 cables, drawing no If OK, turn system off again and go to item 4. Main power connector EL1 4. Disconnect connectors on EL1. First remove front lid and disconnect the 3 D-SUB connectors. Move Port aft thruster so that EL1 rear lid can be removed. The electronic insides are fasten to the rear lid. Check that fuses located on F-123 are OK, according to technical manual 030 Electronic bottles drawing no If OK, call factory for more information

6 Ref.id.: KS&SMS-4-MAN Standard Side 4 av No communication with vehicle 1. Turn system off and on again. Do also reset Control Console by turn off and on power switch located in rear of the console. If still no communication, go to item Enter setup in Argus Presentation program, and see if data is coming in. 3. Turn off vehicle, and make sure no power is present. Disconnect telemetry line on surface and shortcut the line to sub. Do disconnect either in rear of Monitor Console on Terminals twp no 1. Or disconnect 10 pins Amphenol connector in rear of Control Console and short circuit pin D and F. Rear of Monitor Console Rear of Control Console twp no pin Amphenol conn. Disconnect connector marked sign. Umb. located on front lid on EL1. Measure the telemetry line on pin 1 and 2, according to technical manual, 050 cables, drawing no Should then measure approx ohms. If not, the line is broken on the way to sub. Then check the line in winch stationary and rotary junction box. If OK, then check in TMS junction box. Sign. umb. connector Junction boxes winch, TMS junction box (MHDG16CCP) is located here are located here (transformer box) Thrusters are running in opposite direction 1. Enter Argus setup in Argus Presentation Program. 2. Press K for enter parameters from sub. Press Y for changing parameters in this area. Then press N until tools is reached. and change the number to 1. The standard setting should be 1. Then press Y

7 Ref.id.: KS&SMS-4-MAN Standard Side 5 av Thrusters are running without giving any command 1. Check that all trim pots are in neutral position. Also check that auto functions are off. 2. Enter Argus setup in Argus Presentation Program. 3. Press S for joystick centring. Then Y to reset joysticks. The value of joystick centring should be around 7-8. The numbers are Hexadesimals, so 7-8 will be the middle of of trim pots for thrusters No Halogen lights 1. Disconnect cable from light and measure bulb with a multimeter. If damaged go to item Remove connector from body of the light, the bulb will then follow with the connector. Change bulb with new one from spares. 3. If bulb is OK, then open EL1 according to item Check fuses on light dimmer according to technical manual, 030 electronic bottles, drawing no Halogen lights are constant on 1. Open EL1 according to item Change out light dimmer with a new one from spares. The reason for lights are constant on is that the relay is burned in on position and the light dimmer is damaged No HID lights 1. Disconnect cable from Ballast. 2. Check voltage to ballast by measure between pin 1 and 2 after turned switch to HID light on. Take extreme care when doing this. The voltage should be 110VAC. Warning! Do not measure the voltage from ballast to the HID lamp. The voltage here can be up to 5000V when starting. When the light has started the voltage will drop to approx 180V. 3. If voltage is OK, then check ballast or HID lamp by connecting it to the other channel. 4. If still out of order, send it back to factory HID lights are constant on 1. Open EL1 according to item Change out electronic card F-126 with a new one from spares. The reason for the lights are constant on, is that the relay is burned in on position. The relay has to be changed out on the relay board.

Check if temperature is correct. If temperature is correct and not the depth, then change out depth sensor. If even temp. or depth is correct, go to item Turn off power, and disconnect connector on depth sensor. Turn power on again and measure the power to depth sensor according to technical manual, 050 cables, drawing no Also check for humidity in connector. The sensor connector is sensitive to humidity, and will shut down the sensor if wet Vehicle OK, but no video 1. Check that camera switch on control console is in on position. 2. Check for red light on fibre Video receiver. If red light, there is no video input. If no red light, there is video signal to surface if the receiver got power. 3. Check power to camera by measure on connectors according to technical manual, 050 cables, drawing no Also check if the cables are OK. 4. Check fibre from vehicle to surface Sonar failure 1. Check power to sonar according to service manual, 050 cables, drawing no If OK, go to item Check sonar line according to procedure in If line is OK, change converter on surface or sonar head on sub Compass failure 1. Reset system by turning system off and on again. The compass communicates with vehicle by RS Check that compass is not mounted more than 8 deg. out of position. The 2 screws on compass housing should be horizontally mounted according to sub. Also read own service manual for KVH fluxgate compass. 3.
