2 GENERAL Application Honeywell EW70 Series Woltman water meters are used for flow measurement of cold or warm water in potable water systems. EW70xA (i.e. EW700A and EW70A) water meters have a mechanical roller counter and can be equipped with up to two reed switches for pulse output. EW70xB (i.e. EW700B and EW70B) water meters have an electronic counter and an M-Bus and ZVEI optical output. The flow rate may not drop below minimum flow rate (Qmin) and should not exceed permissable continuous load for more than 5 minutes per day Maximum short term flow rate (Qmax) must not be exceeded at any time Function Mechanical Counter (EW70xA) The mechanical counter contains a roller counter for values of whole m³ and dials for tenth, hundredth and thousandth parts of m³. It is flanged to the flow sensor housing. Electronic Counter (EW70xB) The electronic counter (or simply counter ) contains circuits for recording the flow and displaying data. It is flanged to the flow sensor housing. The meter can be read from a single line seven-digit display with units and symbols. A push button provides control of various display loops. All failures and faults are recorded automatically and displayed on the LCD screen. For protection all relevant data is saved in a volatile memory. This memory saves measured values, device parameters and types of error at regular intervals Flow Sensor The Woltman technology of the flow sensor combines high measuring accuracy with long term stability and the capability of measuring high volumes at low pressure drop. The Woltman wheel is connected to the counter by a shaft and a magnetic coupling. Power Supply Lithium battery 3.0V DC with 0 year nominal lifetime (EW70xB only). Interfaces EW70 Series with roller counter Retrofittable with up to two pulse outputs. EW70 Series with electronic counter Equipped with ZVEI optical interface and M-Bus interface on board as standard. For more details on interfaces see chapter Communication and Readout below. 4 Installation Calming legs of straight pipe with a minimum length of 3 x DN before and after EW70 Series water meters are required Calming legs of straight pipe with a minimum length of 5 x DN are required before or after elbows All sizes may be installed in any position except upside down Avoid installation at highest point of system or system part as air may be trapped in meter During measurement meter must be completely filled with water Communication and Readout Communication Options EW70xA EW70 Series water meters with mechanical roller counter can be retrofitted with up to two pulse outputs. This is done by attaching one or two reed switches to the counter housing. The pulse value depends on the position where the reed switch is attached: Position has a pulse value of 00 litres/pulse Position 2 has a pulse value of,000 litres/pulse Either position can be used. It is also possible to occupy both positions in which case two reed switches are required. Available reed switches are listed in chapter Accessories further below. Installation of the reed switches is explained in the installation and setup instructions supplied with the product. Communication Options EW70xB EW70 Series water meters with electronic counter have an optical interface on the front panel and an M-Bus interface on board. Optical interface on front panel ZVEI interface, M-Bus protocol, for readout and parametrisation. Required for access to meter: Bluetooth optohead (EWA300799) PC with HydroSet software M-Bus interface Configurable telegram, according to EN3757-3, data reading and parametrization via two wires with polarity reversal protection, auto baud detection (300 and 2400 baud), 2 M-Bus connections with 2 primary adresses. Readout Options Manual readout by visiting meter and reading consumption values off display Optical: by visiting meter and reading consumption values out via optical interface (EW70xB only) Pulse: remote readout by attaching meter to a suitable pulse counting device (EW70xA only) RF: remote readout by attaching meter to a mobile or fixed RF network. 5 Front Panel and Type Plate Contents EW70 Series water meters with a mechanical counter have additional typeplates which are attached to the side of the counter housing. There are two typeplates which carry specification, approval and product information and a third label with a barcode of the serial number.
