2 1 INTRODUCTION Thank you for choosing the Axxon line of high performance I/O cards. Please take a few moments to read through this documentation. Device drivers and utilities for this Axxon product are supplied for functionality under DOS, Windows 9x, ME, XP, NT4, 2000, 2003, Vista-32, Vista-64, Linux 32/64 bit operating systems. Additional operating system support may be available. Please contact Axxon for the current list of supported operating systems. 2 LICENCE AGREEMENT This software and the accompanying files are provided "as is" and without warranties as to performance or merchantability or any other warranties whether express or implied. 3 3 OVERVIEW and INSTALLATION 3.1 Universal PCI / PCI-X 1 Port EPP/ECP Parallel Port I/O Card Overview Axxon manufactures a variety of serial and parallel port products. This documentation covers installation of the Universal PCI Bus 1 Port EPP/ECP Parallel Port adapter design. Model IC0534KB and RoHS & Pb-free compliant equivalent Model LF534KB Universal PCI I/O Card offer the following features: IEEE1284 Parallel Port Electrical Interface with DB25 Female connector 30kv ESD Protected Interface Low Profile / Standard Height PCI and PCI-X slot compatible PCI 2.2 bus compliant (5 volt) Single 5 volt power supply operation Compatible with 5 volt and 3.3 volt PCI and PCI-X bus interfaces 4 layer high quality FR4 PCB Hardware This product will permit the addition of 1 EPP/ECP compatible Parallel Port to your PC using a free PCI or PCI-X expansion slot. The device driver installation for popular operating systems is discussed in detail in the next section. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the hardware features onboard this Axxon product. This adapter is NOT for use in PCI Express (PCIe) expansion slots. 4 Device Driver Installation Guide 1) Download the current device driver from Axxon s website. The URL is case-sensitive so please download as shown into your browser. case sensitive URL also compatible with XP & 2003 can rename our LPT3 to LPT1 or LPT2 to suit after the driver has installed this version of driver configures the adapter card into EPP mode (required for PlasmaCAM hardware and software interfacing) Available upon request are drivers for DOS, NT4, XP64, , Linux and Vista-32 / 64 operating systems. The following sequence of screen captures outline the Downloading -> Extraction of zipped drivers using Windows XP -> Installation of the EPP enabler device driver under Windows XP Axxon Computer Corporation 4

6 Select Extract all files -> Change the directory for extraction to C:\axxon\epp_driver (or similar) Axxon Computer Corporation 6

8 We now recommend that you insert the IC0534KB / LF534KB circuit board into your system. If you have already inserted the circuit board without a device driver then most likely, your Control Panel -> Hardware -> Device Manager listing will contain a yellow marked PCI Serial entry. This is correct as the controller device used in this design also contains an onboard PCI serial port that is disabled. Double-click this PCI Serial entry and select Update Driver and point to the folder containing the extracted driver files. In this example, please point to: C:\axxon\epp_driver (or similar) Axxon Computer Corporation 8
