3 SUPPRESSOR MODULES THINK SMALL FOR BIG RESULTS Voltage spikes are a challenge for machines and installations. But when it comes to avoiding damage, Murrelektronik s suppressors are the answer! They increase the lifetime of electronic and electrical components. And they are EMC-compatible for systems, machines, and equipment. When inductive loads such as motors, contactors, or valves are switched off, the oscillograph will show record high voltage spikes of up to several kv, which is very frequent. These effects are not only annoying but also cost a lot of money. They shorten the lifetime of relays, cause an increased number of inter-turn short-circuits in motors, interfere with control processes, and damage contactors. SUPPRESSORS FOR CONTACTORS We offer tailor-made solutions for devices from ABB, General Electric, Moeller/ Eaton, Rockwell, Schneider Electric, Siemens, and many others. The modules limit voltage spikes to an optimum level because they are precisely adjusted to the coil capacity. Many contactors have the suppressors integrated into the housing. The latest example is the suppressor modules fit for the new generation of Sirius contactors from Siemens. Of course, there are also universal suppressors available that are suitable for other inductive loads. They are snapped onto DIN rails next to contactors, relays, brakes, etc., they are bonded, or fixed with cable ties included in the scope of delivery. SUPPRESSORS FOR MOTORS Using suppressor modules reduces the number of voltage spikes that are caused when motors are shut off. This makes inter-turn short-circuits rare and motors live longer. Furthermore, motor suppressors like all other suppressors help meet the EMC directives for machines and systems, for example in pumps, ventilators, or compressors. In addition, suppressor modules prevent negative effects from impacting neighboring communication networks and safety systems. SUPPRESSORS FOR VALVES There are two ways to dampen voltage spikes that are caused when valves are shut off. One way is to use suppressors that are installed between valve and plug. They are especially efficient when placed at the source of interference and are excellent when very high voltage spikes have to be suppressed. The second way is to use MSUD valve plugs with integrated suppressors - this is a practical method without any extra installation work. 03

4 EXACT12 FROM 3 TO 30 M12 Murrelektronik has a huge selection of distribution boxes and now, the inexpensive Exact12 is available with additional cable lengths. You can now order these compact distribution boxes with cable lengths from 3 to 30 meters which makes them suitable for almost any application! Exact12 equals variety: Two cable materials, models with pre-wired cable or with pluggable caps, and now we offer seven (instead of four) different cable lengths as standard! The new lengths are 20, 25, and 30 meters. These lengths are ideal for collecting sensor signals from a distance. The Exact 12 distributor series only use a little space because of their compact design. The housings are completely molded with translucent PUR. This ensures sealed connections and increased safety against strong vibrations. Typi- cal applications for Exact12 are installations in materials handling, assembly technology, in test engineering or in robotics. On the go? The Exact12 models with pluggable caps or round plug connectors (M12/M23) are designed for applications where individual machine components have to be disassembled for transportation purposes. The cap with attached cable can be easily plugged into the existing base module when the installation is assembled. This provides many advantages during setup or service work. Advanced power supply systems have to be protected in a dependable and targeted manner. MICO, Murrelektronik s intelligent power distribution system, is the perfect solution for 24 V DC systems. MICO is available in a two channel and four channel version and you can combine the modules in any way to create an inexpensive and space saving system. The new MICO Actuator Sensor is another four channel MICO that features increased flexibility. With the new module, two channels are provided for securing sensors and cover the current range from 1 to 4 A. The other two channels secure actuators and can be adjusted to currents from 4 to 10 A. Now you can design MICO systems in an even more application oriented manner and save even more money! The MICO Actuator-Sensor has perfect shut-off responses: as late as possible or as early as necessary. In today s installations, special attention is paid to securing sensitive loads such as fieldbus devices with safe inputs, industrial computers, or drive controls. These devices often monitor their own input voltage and switch off automatically in case of voltage drops. Now with MICO Speed-Start, Murrelektronik has a device that protects sensitive loads directly. Thanks to its optimized start-up function, MICO Speed- Start avoids load voltage drops ensuring optimum power supply. This new module features four channels that can be adjusted to current ranges from 4 to 10 A μf PER CHANNEL CASCADING START Competitors MICO is able to handle high capacitive loads of up to μf per channel. It connects several loads to each channel with high input capacity. MICO eliminates inrush peaks by delaying the start of the single current paths (cascaded). 5 CUBE20 MODULAR FIELDBUS TECHNOLOGY NOW FOR PROFINET IO Cube20 can also be operated in Profinet IO fieldbus systems! A suitable bus node is now available. Now design fieldbus stations with up to 16 modules. The integrated Machine Option Management simplifies start up and furthermore, IP20 and IP67 modules can be conveniently connected together. Cube20 stands for modular fieldbus technology in a very small space. You can design fieldbus stations for various applications with a variety of digital and analog input and output modules. The station is connected to a higher-level fieldbus system with a bus node - and such a bus node is now available for Profinet IO. The system can easily be changed by exchanging the bus node. The I/O modules remain unchanged. Pluggable spring clamp terminals facilitate installation work. Cube20 offers comprehensive diagnostic options. Errors are displayed where they occur by a luminous red terminal. In addition, information is sent to the control. There it will be analyzed and displayed enabling thus finding quickly the interference source. This helps to significantly reduce downtime and increase productivity. Companies often produce machines and installation with a similar design that differ only in their options. Cube20 with integrated Machine Option Management provides a solution. Hardware and software are standardized and configured for all options. The available modules are activated depending on the machine design. This saves time and costs during start up. Cube20 and Cube67 grow together Another new module in the Cube20 range: the Cube20/67 interface module. It connects Cube67 modules in a distance of up to 10 meters without requiring an additional bus node. This way, signals from the field can easily be led into the control cabinet. No matter if IP20 or IP67, a Cube20 station can comprise up to 16 modules. Today, this association is a publicly held corporation with about 6,400 employees. GL has always operated as ship classification society, however the company also offers services for the maritime industry: It tests, certifies, and gives advice. GL supervises newly constructed ships and maritime buildings (docks and locks) and deals with the supply industry for the maritime industry. Transformers from Murrelektronik are efficient and feature maximum productivity. They operate reliably and effectively as isolation, control, or safety transformers. This makes them an essential component in power supply systems. Now, Murrelektronik s complete transformer range has Germanischer Lloyd (GL) approval. With this approval, the transformers can be used in almost all areas of the shipping industry. All types of the Murrelektronik transformers now feature GL approval, including the complete range of all customer-specific models. Now, depending on the requirements, it s possible to design transformers with voltages of up to 600 V (both on the primary and on the secondary side). The temperature range goes from -20 to 60 C, the power range from 30 to 5000 VA, and they are available in various designs with unlimited numbers of terminals and different terminal shapes to choose from. 6 SENSOR-ACTUATOR CABLES OPTIMIZED CABLE QUALITY MODLIGHT50 NEW AND PERFECT FOR SMALL, COMPACT SYSTEMS 70 mm Modlight70 Murrelektronik has improved the quality of the sensor-actuator cables. With higher C-track values, you can expect a longer life from the cables. A new cable jacket material with significantly improved flame resistance helps keep the danger of fires in check. With C-track values of over 2 million flex cycles, the PUR/PVC cables are perfect for versatile uses in rugged environments, such as handling and packaging, in assembly plants or production lines. These cables provide good chemical resistance to quick and sporadic contact with oil and lubricants. The UV resistant cables are wear-resistant and easily stripped. Murrelektronik s halogen-free PUR-UL/CSA cables are ideal for extremely polluted applications, for example in machine tools. Featuring excellent mechanical properties, over 5 million bending cycles and torsion values of ± 180 /m, these cables work great as C-track cables. The flame resistance was advanced with the innovative cable jacket material Medoxprotect S Nexans. This new material is self-extinguishing, has a low thermal load, ADDITIONALLY... and the toxicity of combustion gases has been reduced. If it burns, the cable jacket has a delayed smoke generation and a lower heat emission than other cables. With these improvements, the PUR-UL/CSA cables achieved the approval: UL Style for External Use. Murr elektronik is currently the only manufacturer offering this type of cable! The weld spatter resistant PUR cables have even more mechanical properties: more than 10 million flex cycles in C-tracks and over 1 million torsion cycles at 360 /m. So these cables are ideal to use with welding robots, high energy C-tracks and machine tools. Both the halogen-free PUR cables as well as the weld-spatter resistant PUR-UL/CSA cables are very resistant to oil, lubricants and coolants, and chemicals. Both types are halogen, silicone and CFC-free, and hydrolysis, microbe-, and UV-resistant. They are flame retardant according to IEC and IEC , the PUR-UL/CSA cables according to VW1 and UL FT The PUR cables are also flame retardant according to FT2. 50 mm Modlight50 Maximum flexibility to select and combine any color this is one of the outstanding features Modlight70 LED signal tower is known for! The tried and tested system is now available in a compact design: Modlight50 with smaller dimensions. This is the perfect solution for installation with narrow space. Just like Modlight70, Modlight50 is especially bright because of a patented double reflector system and maintenance-free high performance LEDs (with a lifetime of about 100,000 hours). Service personnel and maintenance technicians can quickly see the state of machine and plant installations, even from a distance. The modular design is very practical: the colorcoded signal components in red, orange, green, blue, and white are conveniently and safely connected via notched contacts. Today, there is high demand for signal towers for small and compact machines (for example in SMD assembly, labeling machines, or testing equipment). Murrelektronik s Modlight50 is the ideal solution for these demands! Thanks to the reduced diameter (only 50 instead of 70 millimeters), this signal tower can also be installed in confined space, while offering the same brightness and flexibility of the proven concept. NEW PROFIBUS CONNECTORS INSTALL WITHIN SECONDS Installing bus connectors by hand requires a lot of time. And when something goes wrong, troubleshooting requires a lot of work. The new Murrelektronik Profibus connectors are the solution: Easy, pluggable connections reduce installation time and minimize possible failures. The Murrelektronik Profibus connectors feature two standard b-coded M12 connections for Profi- bus cables. The installation is ready within seconds: the bus connectors are simply connected to the bus device s 9-pole Sub-D fieldbus interface and the fieldbus cables are connected via pre-wired M12 connectors. Time-consuming connector wiring and the Profibus shields are no longer required. Moreover, the signal stress is minimized with the M12 plug connections. The Profibus connectors are available with three different housings and cable exits of 35, 90, and 180. The full metal housing made of zinc die-cast ensures secure shielding according to EMI/RFI. The Profibus connectors are designed for data rates up to 12 MBit/s. Switchable terminating resistors enable safe termination. The ON/OFF position of the switch can be detected from the front. The bus connector is locked with UNC 4-40 hex screws. A second Sub-D socket is available for programming and diagnostic purposes. 06

7 MASI68 CONNECTING THE CONVENIENT WAY Murrelektronik s MASI68 modules are suitable for AS Interface installation in harsh industrial environments. New expansions modules offer additional options. The modules are conveniently supplied with round connectors and one cable is used for data transfer and power supply. This provides even more flexibility in machine installation. The pluggable and sealed M12 connection technology reduces the installation time. The expansion modules feature an integrated distributor function that simplifies installation concepts with AS interface. Installation material such as branches and distributors can be saved. Murrelektronik s MASI68 modules are fully potted, sealed, and very robust. They feature high signal density in a compact design. They also fulfill the requirements of AB-technology according to specification 3.0, thus making it possible to connect up to 62 slaves per AS-Interface segment. With the round cables, diameter of 4 x 0.75mm 2 (or 2 x 1.5 mm 2 ), that are specially designed for AS-Interface applications you can install over distances of up to 100 meters without requiring repeaters. They are suitable for installations in drag chains and withstand the high requirements of wet applications (IP68) where they are exposed to cooling lubricants. MASI68 modules are available for M8 and M12 connection technology, as input modules only or as input and output modules. The modules are supplied with four or eight ports. CONNECTABLE MIRO 6.2 TWICE AS SMALL, TWICE AS FAST! Converting, amplifying, transferring signals interface components have to fulfill various requirements while being potential-free. With the connectable MIRO 6.2, Murrelektronik offers a modular solution for many applications: Different modules can be plugged into a standard base socket. The plug modules can be easily distinguished because of their different colors. They are functional interface components because they can be simply connected to the base sockets. They are available as input and output relays (from 6 to 230 V), as optocouplers with and without short circuit protection, and as triacs for switching direct currents up to 0.5 A. From the field of active interface technology, we have components for pulse lengthening devices, pulse dividers, and temperature monitoring (motor guard). A combined locking and ejection mechanism allows quick unplugging and replacing functional modules: you don t have to open the wiring of the base socket. This makes the modular concept of the connectable MIRO 6.2 an excellent choice for applications with high switching frequencies and the resulting wear of components. The base sockets are only 6.2 mm wide and can be modularly connected and take up only a little space in the control cabinet. Another benefit is that the connectable MIRO 6.2 is supplied with matching jumpers so up to 20 units can be conveniently connected. This reduces wiring efforts even more! An isolation plate that can be easily connected between the individual modules is available for applications focusing on electromagnetic compatibility. NEW: PUSH-IN CONNECTION TECHNOLOGY Thanks to the practical push-in connection technology, the base socket can be conveniently connected without using tools. This can be accomplished in a very short time, two times faster than spring clamp terminals and four times faster than a conventional screw connection.
