IMPORTANT: NOTE CONCERNING ALARM SYSTEMS When regulating and controlling the climate in livestock buildings, breakdowns, malfunctions or faulty settings may cause substantial damage and financial losses. It is therefore essential to install a separate, independent alarm system that monitors the house climate concurrently with the climate and production computer. According to EU-directive No. 98/58/EU an alarm system must be installed in all mechanically ventilated houses. Please note that the product liability clause of general terms and conditions of sale and delivery specifies that an alarm system must be installed. In case of an operating error or improper use, ventilation systems can result in production losses or cause loss of lives among animals. SKOV A/S recommends that ventilation systems be mounted, operated and serviced only by trained staff and that a separate emergency opening unit and an alarm system be installed as well as maintained and tested at regular intervals, according to SKOV A/S terms and conditions of sale and delivery. 6 6 Technical User Guide 1 Product Description DOL 38-2 is a sturdy frequency converter for three-phase fans. DOL 38-2 is controlled by a 0-10 V signal from a climate computer. 2 Product Survey Figure Description DOL 38-2 frequency converter incl. kit DOL 38 is a frequency converter for regulating three-phase fans. The frequency converter is controlled via a 0-10 V signal. The distance between the frequency converter and fan should not exceed 5 m (shielded cable). 7 Technical User Guide 7 3 General Information 3.1 Recommended Tools The following or similar tools are required to service the DOL The tools are not supplied by SKOV A/S. 8 8 Technical User Guide 4 Mounting Guide 4.1 Mounting the Incorrect mechanical mounting can result in overheating and reduced performance Position of Frequency Converter Frequency converter must not be built-in or covered and must be mounted on a solid, level surface. In order to uphold protection classifications, access and cooling, the frequency converter must be positioned as shown in Ensure access and cooling of Frequency Converter In order to ensure access and cooling of the frequency converter, the distances to the surroundings of 150 mm must be adhered to.

9 Technical User Guide Positioning of Frequency Converter The frequency converter is positioned so that the ambient temperature is between - 40 C and + 50 C. Mount the frequency converter as close to the fan as possible. Mount the frequency converter on a wooden plate fastened to a rafter on the ceiling or directly on the chimney. Install the frequency converter under the eaves protected from driving rain and in shade protected from direct solar radiation.

10 10 Technical User Guide 5 Installation Guide 5.1 Electrical Connection Qualified personnel must perform installation, service and fault-finding of all electrical equipment in accordance with the applicable national and international standard EN and any other EU standards that are applicable in Europe. The installation of a power supply isolator is required for each motor and power supply to facilitate voltage-free work on the electrical equipment. 26 26 Technical User Guide 6 Setting Fan Voltage In Climate Controller In the Climate controller, set the voltage corresponding to minimum and maximum voltage. Stop and start of the fan. Please note that the DOL 38-2 frequency converter is 0-10 V controlled. 6.1 DOL 234 and DOL 234F before Version 7.2 In the menu Setup/ Adjustment/ Fan Set Minimum voltage to 0 V and Maximum voltage to 10 V. 6.2 DOL 234F Version 7.2 In the menu Setup/ Installation/ Air outlet/ Continuously variable Set Stop fan to 0 V and Full speed to 10 V. 6.3 DOL 534 and DOL 539 In the menu Technical / Service/ Settings / Climate/ Fan speed control Set Minimum voltage to 0 V and Maximum voltage to 10 V. 6.4 DOL 634 and DOL 639 In the menu Technical / Settings / Installation / Climate/ Fan speed control Set Stop fan 0 V and Full speed to 10 V.

27 Technical User Guide 27 7 Maintenance Instructions 1. Check for intact blades and suspension units at least once a year. Call service in case of abnormal noise and vibration. 2. Only authorised personnel may carry out repairs. 7.1 Cleaning the Frequency Converter To ensure sufficient cooling, keep the cooling ribs on the frequency converter dust-free, e.g. by means of compressed air. Never flush the frequency converter with water. Clean using a limited amount of water (water spraying), a brush and a cloth. 7.2 Removal for Recycling/Disposal SKOV A/S products which are suitable for recycling are marked with a pictogram showing a refuse bin that is crossed over. See the picture. Customers can dispose of SKOV A/S products at local collecting points/recycling stations according to local directions. The recycling station will then arrange for further transport to a certified plant for reuse, recovering and recycling.

28 28 Technical User Guide 8 Troubleshooting Guide Always disconnect the power securely before servicing the fan. When the control voltage has been disconnected, wait for 3 minutes before removing the lid of the frequency converter or touching the motor cables. Symptom Solution The fan does not start. Check that there is voltage between terminals L and N. Check the control voltage to the frequency converter. Set the computer to manual control and try to start the fan via the Auto/Manual menu. Disconnect the supply voltage for 60 sec. to restart the frequency converter after a fault has occurred. Control error: - too high temperature - too high output current - short-circuiting of output/short-circuit to earth - voltage too high/low (power supply) - connection to power supply interrupted Abnormal fan noise. Bearing noise. Vibrating fan. Difficult to start or irregular running. Check if the fan blades are broken, dirty or touches the chimney. Contact authorised personnel for replacement. 8.1 LED indications The frequency converter is equipped with a two-colour LED which indicates operating status. The LED is located on the underside of the frequency converter beside the entry for the mains cable. Lights constantly green when manis voltage is connected. Lights constantly red when at least one critical alarm is active. Flashes red when at least one non-critical alarm is active.
