2 2 Technical User Guide 1 Product Description This is a CPU module incl. display for a climate/production controller. 2 Mounting Guide 2.1 Save Current Setup Save the current setup before replacing the CPU module. For instance, you can take pictures of front views and the installation menu Show connection (Technical/ Setup/ Show connection) and save the setup on a USB stick. 1) Remove the front panel screws (A) to release the panel. 2) Remove the front panel. 3) Insert the USB stick into the USB port of the CPU-module. 4) Select Save settings and front views in the menu Technical/ Service/ USB stick/ Save. 5) Name the setup. 6) Wait until the climate controller indicates that the setup is saved. 7) Remove the USB stick and wait until the climate controller has detected that the USB stick has been removed (approx. five seconds). If you do not wait long enough, the climate controller may have problems reading the next USB stick correctly. This can lead to the following errors: The USB stick is not formatted correctly, resulting in problems installing the update from the USB stick. 8) Note or take pictures of the values of the following settings (*If installed). 3 Technical User Guide Backup historical data If historical data should be moved from old CPU to the new replacement CPU, a backup is needed. ARM based CPU Module (one LAN port) IMX based CPU Module (2 x LAN ports) This CPU Module will automatically save all historical data on the SD card regardless of any configuration in the menu s. This CPU Module will automatically save all historical data in internal memory, and only use the SD card as backup media. IMX based CPU Module (2 x LAN ports): Backup of historical data can be configured to be done automatically once per day, and in this way a new backup is always available if a CPU replacement is needed. The backup is placed on the SD card on the CPU Module. If no backup has been made earlier, or if a new backup is needed, it can be made manually upon request: 1) Select Save FarmOnline data in the menu Technical/ Service/ Settings/ Backup/ SD card/ 2) Wait until the climate controller indicates that the backup is saved. 3) Remove the SD card from the climate controller.

4 4 Technical User Guide 2.3 Replacing CPU Module incl. Display Expert personnel must carry out installation, servicing and troubleshooting of electrical equipment pursuant to applicable national and international regulations. In Europe, this would be the EN or other current EU regulations. The installation of a power supply isolator is required for each motor and power supply to facilitate voltage-free work on the electrical equipment. SKOV A/S does not supply the power supply isolator. 1) Disconnect power to the climate controller. 2) Disconnect the network connector if your climate controller is part of a network. 3) Remove the flat cable (B) from the main module. 4) Loosen the six screws (C) and remove the CPU module incl. display (D). 5) Mount the new CPU module incl. display (E) by means of the six screws and connect the flat cable on the main module (B). Do not remove protective grating. 6) Connect the network connector if your climate controller is part of a network. 7) Connect power to the climate controller.

5 Technical User Guide Replacing Ribbon Cable If the CPU module in a wiring box solution needs replacement, the factory-installed ribbon cable typically is not long enough and should therefore be replaced by a longer one. (1) (1) Release the display (1) from the CPU module, use a screwdriver to lift the display so that the ribbon cable can be detached. Please note: You only have to actuate the two front taps, so that the display remains mounted and the ribbon cables connecting the display with the PCB are not affected. Lift the ribbon cable and disconnect the cable. Avoid pulling the ribbon cable. Insert the long ribbon cable. Click the display onto the CPU module again. Use a screwdriver. 2.4 Replacing Power Supply Check if the power supply needs replacement. If the power supply in the controller has a label with the text "Power Supply SMPS 24v 2.1 A-Type: , Power Supply SMPS 24V 2.1A - Type: or Alpha Power module 3.2 A Type , the power supply does not need to be replaced. If there is a different type in the controller, the power supply needs to be replaced with either Power Supply 24 V 2.1 A or Power Supply 24 V 3A. The power supply must be ordered separately.

6 6 Technical User Guide 2.5 Select System Software The CPU module is provided with a basic software. Select the required software variant, when the CPU starts up. It is important to select the correct system software to have the required features available in the controller. There are two ways to select system software: a) Let the CPU module find the system software in an existing configuration or backup. For instance, from USB stick or the SD card. b) Select the system software in a list, which is accessible in the menu Select system. We recommend choosing option a) if possible, as this will ensure that the controller has the same version. Note: Once a version has been selected, either by using an existing configuration or by selecting from the list, one CANNOT change version again. If the configuration is available on a USB stick, one should use this to load the required software version. If the old CPU module contains an SD card, the SD card may contain a backup, which can be used to load the correct software version. Use the menu Find system from SD backup to find SD backup version. Use the menu Find system from USB backup to find USB backup version. Use the menu Find system from USB setting to find settings saved on USB. Use the menu Select system to select the version from the list. Loading of the required software version does NOT include settings. Load settings later see section 2.6. Select system displays the list of options. Be careful to select the right version. The version of the climate controller appears from a label located on the inside of the cover or on the side of the housing. The climate controller will restart while loading. Do not remove the USB stick/sd card until the graphical user interface is accessible again. Loading completed successfully. It is VERY important not to interrupt the power supply while loading the system software. Do not remove the USB stick/sd card until the loading process is fully completed. In other words, the graphical user interface is accessible and usable.

7 Technical User Guide Loading the Current Setup Load the current configuration from an external media e.g. the USB stick, which contains a saved version. See paragraph ) Insert the USB stick into the USB port of the CPUmodule. 2) Select the menu Technical/ Service/ USB stick/ Load/ Load settings and front views. 3) Select the setup copied to the USB stick. Wait until the setup has been saved. 4) Set the values for the settings noted in the above chart. 5) Disconnect power to the climate controller. 6) Reconnect power to the controller. Steps 5) and 6) are required to make sure that the controller and all the components/sensors are configured and working as expected. 2.7 Restore historical data The following instruction works on all replacement CPU s based on the IMX based CPU Module (2 x LAN ports): The historical data saved as a backup on the SD card from the old CPU Module can be restored into the replacement CPU. Please note that after mounting of the old SD card into the replacement CPU the restore of historical data should be done immediately! The reason for this is that the replacement CPU will try to make a new backup on the mounted SD card during nighttime, and this will only work if no other backup exists on the SD card. 1) Insert the SD card from the old CPU Module in the replacement CPU 2) Select Restore FarmOnline data in the menu Technical/ Service/ Settings/ Backup/ SD card/. Wait until the restore is completed it may take up to 15 minutes. 3) When the restore is successfully completed, it is recommended to remove the old SD card and insert the SD card delivered with the replacement CPU. The reason for this is that the old backup still occupies a big part of the memory on the old SD card and prevents a new backup from being made. Another option is to format the old SD card in order to free all memory on it. Select Format SD card in the menu Technical/ Service/ Settings/ Backup/ SD card/. (Possible in version 5.3.x and onwards).

8 8 Technical User Guide 2.8 Verification and Calibration It is very important to check that the climate controller works as it did, before replacement of the CPU module, as a few connections may switch in connection with a replacement. The climate controller will give a warning in this respect, but it will not indicate which connections moved. If there are animals in the livestock house, it is very important to check the noted values after the update, so that the day number and all other settings are correct again. 1. Check the front view. Compare the view with your notes or the pictures taken before the replacement of the CPU module. If you have lost the setup, you have to set up the front view again. 2. Check configuration after the replacement in the menu Show connections Check that the connections are as noted or as in the pictures taken before the replacement. 3. Set/check that operation and climate values are the same as before the update according to the notes entered in the form. If there are animals in the house, it is very important to check that the values from the chart are the same as the values shown on the climate controller after the replacement. 4. Reset the climate components to automatic mode. 5. Check that the DOL 53X/DOL 63X works as expected by testing all components. You do this in the Auto/manual menu. You can test all the functions by activating 'manual'. 6. Calibrate all equipment again. DOL 53X/DOL 63X does not load the calibration when replacing the CPU module. A calibration thus has to be made for winch motors, feedweighers, bird weighers, light, day silo, etc. 7. Set the function Use password as required.
