Two input channels are standard, and up to 2 additional channels can be supported via optional input mezzanine boards. Each input can be placed in one or more windows within the output active area. Supported video inputs include DVI, RGB, component, composite and many specialty video formats. DisplayPort and Dual DVI inputs are options. Supported outputs include, parallel RGB, and Link DVI. 2 VP13 Dual LCD Controller User Programmable Modes To support standard input channels, multiple input types per channel, and multiple windows in an embedded application, the VP13 offers a comprehensive approach for automatic detection, conversion, and windowing of many video formats. Each input channel can have multiple, prioritized video input modes associated with it. A mode consists of the input type (DVI, VGA. CVBS, etc), video timing, and associated window parameters. Each input channel has a mode selection subsystem to scan for defined modes per a user-defined methodology. Example methods include: Scan defined modes associated with a specific input type (such as VGA), Scan defined modes associated with all input types on that channel, Scan defined modes associated with a specific mode identifier (a part of the mode definition) At power up, each channel s mode selection subsystem initiates an automated scan. Once a mode is matched (either exactly or within pre-defined limits), that video input is displayed in its window(s) per the mode s associated window parameters (input area-of-interest, window size, window location). The mode selection subsystem continually monitors each channel. If the channel s video is lost, then a pre-programmed flat-field color can be placed in the window with a text message, (or the window can be removed altogether) and a new scan is initiated. Even in the presence of valid video, a new scan can be initiated via remote command or discrete input. Channel 1 can auto-detect modes from one or more of the following inputs: RGB (SOG or HV), DVI, 7 NTSC/PAL composite inputs, 3 S- inputs, or 1 component input. Channel 2 can auto-detect modes from one or more of the following inputs: RGB (SOG or HV), DVI, 3 NTSC/PAL composite inputs, S- input VP13 Configuration Application The VP13 is configured via the VP13 Configure PC application. VP13 Configure supports the setup of: timing/electrical parameters and synchronization method, All inputs, including a prioritized list of all applicable video input modes that can be automatically detected for each input channel, The window size(s) and location(s) for each input mode, within the output area-of-interest, Sequences for display initialization, loss of video, and video detection. All parameters are stored in non-volatile memory for automatic operation upon power up. The VP13 Configure application output is a.txt file composed of VP13 commands. This file can be downloaded to the VP13 or saved on a PC. Commands are defined in the VP13 Command Line Description document. The application runs on Windows 7 and Windows 10. The VP13 supports: Conversion and Synchronization Digitization of computer-generated analog RGB video sources with separate syncs or sync-on-green, noninterlaced and interlaced, DVI () inputs, Digitization and de-interlacing of consumer video formats, including NTSC and PAL Composite, S-, and Component, Support for custom video formats and specialty formats such as RS-343, RS-170, and STANAG, Incoming video gain and offset adjustments. Fine phase clock adjustment for pixel sampling Per window YUV and RGB colorspace adjustments, Free-running output or genlocked to an input channel. If video is lost from the associated genlock input channel, then timing converts to free-running until a new input is detected for that channel. Note: Genlocked output provides the lowest possible latency. Page 2 of 5

3 VP13 Dual LCD Controller Scaling, Windowing, and Area-of-Interest Control Unlimited, independent horizontal and vertical scaling, Programmable window size and position within a larger output resolution for each input video mode, Image can be reversed left to right and flipped top to bottom, Image can be rotated 90, 180, or 270 degrees. Combining up to WUXGA and 1080P The VP13 offers robust windowing for display resolutions with pixel clock frequencies <= 165 MPixels/sec (eg 1080P and 60Hz). Up to 4 windows may be sized and placed anywhere in the output area-of-interest. Window techniques include PIP, side-by-side, and other window configurations. Combining beyond WUXGA and 1080P Many panels that require a pixel rate beyond 165 MPixels/sec utilize a quad interface. The VP13 supports these panels with some reservations. If the pixel rate exceeds 165 MPixels/sec, then the # of windows, and window sizes and locations are limited by a vertical segment boundary that splits the output area-ofinterest. Specifically, # 78 9:;<79= (segments utilized by window n) <= 4 ;? In the window configuration below, Window #3 utilizes 2 segments, while Windows #1 and #2 utilize 1 segment each, for a total of 4 utilized segments. This is a valid configuration. Keying An optional keying block supports RGB-keyed alpha blend and other techniques between a key plane and the background plane to form the visual plane. 5 VP13 Dual LCD Controller VP13 Operation Typically, the VP13 operates as follows: 1. Upon power up, the VP13 configures itself based on its internal BIOS. The BIOS includes various input mode definitions per input channel, windowing definitions, and an output mode (timing, electrical format, video combining definition, etc.) 2. For each input channel, if a valid video mode is detected on an input channel, the VP13 drives windows associated with that input channel per the mode definition.
