1 S1540 User Manual Multiple Input LCD Controller Board Using ichips IP00C755 Scalar The S1540 LCD Controller board from Systemation Technology, Inc. provides a full function general purpose LCD Controller that can accept a variety of different video inputs including, Analog VGA (up to 1920 X 1200), DVI (up to 1920x1200), and Composite NTSC or PAL video. The S1540 can drive any 1 ch/2ch LVDS type LCD. The S1540 board contains 2 sets of inputs to the scalar allowing for Picture-in- Picture (PIP) and Picture-by-Picture (PBP). In addition, the S1540 provides rotate (+/- 90 degrees), flip and mirror. Each input group consists of DVI/HDMI, VGA and Composite NTSC/PAL. The LVDS output of the C755 is used to drive single or dual channel LVDS LCDs. Power and control are provided to support most LCD backlights. User controls are provided using either a 3-button board to operate the On- Screen Menu (OSD). 3 9 Image Processing: Any input can be displayed full screen with any other input as PIP or PBP. Any input can be displayed as Full Screen, 1:1, Fit-to-Width, Fit-to-Height, Rotate (90 deg +/-) Flip and Mirror. 5 Image Scaling and Rotation Using the Main Menu, the user can select several screen scaling presentations and image rotate. The Scaling presentations are: - 1 to 1 in Screen Center - 1 to 1 in Upper Left Corner - 2X - Fit to Width - Fit to Height - Fit to Screen The case exists where the image or part of the image is off the screen, such as, when the image is scaled up (like 2X) and the doubled image is larger than the screen. In this example the image will not be scaled, then image will be cropped by the display. In the Fit to Width or Fit to Height, part of the image may also be off the screen. These scaling options can be used with the aspect ration needs to be maintained. In addition, the image may be rotated from 0 degrees, to 90 degress, 180 degrees and 270 degrees. 5 P a g e

6 PIP Operation Using the Menu the user can select which of the 3 Main inputs shall be used for the full screen display. Then the PIP input can be selected. The PIP input can be any of the second set of inputs. Below is an example of an HDMI full screen with a composite PIP screen: 6 P a g e

9 Composite Inputs There are 2 composite video inputs using right angle RCA jacks. J2 is Composite Input 1 J5 is Composite Input 2 These inputs are normally used to support NTSC and PAL composite video. NTSC and PAL are automatically detected and scaled to fit the LCD. Both of these inputs are wired to accept monochrome RS-170 high resolution video. This is also referred to as Sync-on-Green video. Consult the factory for more information LED Indicators There are 5 green LEDs on the board to support various operating conditions: D8 3.3V Indicates the power supplies are good D5 HB - Blinks to indicate that the board is functioning properly D6 - Reserved D3 Reserved D4 Reserved Controls There are 4 pushbuttons on the board. These buttons are also present on the Button Connector J8. The buttons have the following functions: SW1 SEL - Selects the On-Screen Menu SW2 UP - Steps items on the menu up SW3 DN - Steps items on the menu down SW4 PWR - Soft Power switch The board comes ON when power is applied Press and hold for 2 seconds to turn power OFF Press to turn the power back ON 9 P a g e
