2 CRIME ALERT: Off Campus Burglaries November 21, 2015 On November 21, 2015 the Towson University Police Department was notified that the Baltimore County Police are investigating two reports of Off-Campus Burglaries that occurred on November 20, 2015 at about 11:30 PM. The below described suspect entered into 2 separate (unlocked) Towson University Students apartments, located on Campus View Dr. in the University Village. Suspect Description: Male, White, years of age, 5 11 in height, 200 lbs. blonde or strawberry shoulder length hair, wearing a salmon colored button-down shirt, gray hoodie, khaki pants. Department (410) Avoid performing distracting activities, such as listening to music or talking on your cell phone, while walking. It prevents you from sensing the presence of a potential predator. 3 CRIME ALERT: Off Campus Attempt Robbery November 17, 2015 The Baltimore County Police are investigating a report of an Off-Campus Attempt Robbery that occurred on November 16, 2015 at about 9:05 PM in the 200 block of Maryland Avenue, Towson. The suspects got out of a car and approached the victim and demanded his money and property. The victim was able to get away from them and nothing was taken. Avoid performing distracting activities, such as listening to music or talking on your cell phone, while walking. It prevents you from sensing the presence of a potential predator. This alert has been approved by Bernard Gerst, Associate Vice President, Office of Public Safety and Chief of Police and is intended to promote campus security and comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1990.
4 Theft Scheme The Towson University Police Department (TUPD) is currently investigating a theft scheme on this campus. The identified suspect is a non-affiliate who predominately targets open classrooms and lecture halls. The suspect is targeting wireless microphones and related equipment that are regularly used by instructors and others. At least one laptop computer has also been stolen. An arrest warrant has been obtained by the TUPD for this individual. Additional charges are pending further investigation. The TUPD is asking for the campus community s assistance. Please make sure electronic equipment is properly secured after use. Do not assume someone else will be using the equipment and leave it unattended. An inventory of this type of equipment should be conducted as soon as possible by each department utilizing these devices. Make, model and serial numbers should be recorded. Incidents like this rely on opportunity. Please assist the TUPD by limiting the opportunities as much as possible. 5 CRIME ALERT: Off Campus Robbery October 12, 2015 Towson University Police Department Incident Summary: On Sunday, October 11, 2015 at approximately 5:23a.m. an on-duty TUPD officer observed a male subject running southbound on York Rd. near Towsontown Blvd. followed behind by a female (non-affiliate) who advised the officer that the male subject had just stolen her purse while she was standing at the bus stop at York. Rd. and Chesapeake Ave. The male subject fled toward TU s campus and a text alert was issued via E2Campus. The male subject was not located after an extensive search of the area by TUPD and Baltimore County Police. The suspect used physical force to take the purse from the victim; no weapon was implied or displayed. Baltimore County Police are continuing the investigation. 6 CRIME ALERT: Off Campus - Armed Robbery September 29, 2015 On Tuesday, September 29, 2015 TUPD was made aware of an Armed Robbery of a TU student that occurred on Sept. 28, 2015 at approximately 11:10pm at the below location. The victim was walking to her parked vehicle and as she crossed the street a male subject who was wearing a maroon/burgundy ski mask ran up to her, displayed a handgun and demanded her bag and phone. The suspect ran in the direction of Aigburth Rd. and Donnybrook Ln. Baltimore County Police are investigating. 9 CRIME ALERT: Off Campus Armed Robbery June 13, 2015 On June 12, 2015 Towson University Police were notified of an armed robbery occurring at approximately 11:35 pm at Meridian Lane and East Burke Ave., one block off of York Road near campus. The suspects approached the victims in a dark four door vehicle. Two suspects approached the victims and firearms were displayed. Wallets and personal property were taken from the victims. 11 CRIME ALERT: Possible Armed Subject - UNFOUNDED April 27, 2015 On this date at 6:15 PM, Towson University Police received an anonymous unsubstantiated call for an armed subject in possession of an explosive device in Cook Library. TU Police, with assistance from the Baltimore County Police Department, secured the building and conducted a thorough search. Finding nothing, the building was re-opened for normal operations. An investigation will continue to identify the source of the telephone threat. At this time, there is no known nexus to any of the activity occurring in Baltimore City. 12 CRIME ALERT: Off Campus Robbery March 2, 2015 Incident Summary: On March 2, 2015 Towson University Police were notified of an armed robbery occurring on February 25, 2015 at approximately 7:28 pm in the vicinity of Susquehanna and Aigburth Avenues, near campus. A non-affiliate was sitting in a parked vehicle, with the door open, when her purse was taken by an unknown subject who fled the area in a black 2 door sports car. The vehicle was last seen travelling towards York Road.. Avoid performing distracting activities, such as listening to music or talking on your cell phone, while walking. Their investigation revealed that 3 suspects, 1 armed with a hand gun, entered the store, threatened an employee and took money and other items from the store. They were last seen on the north side of the building fleeing on foot. Avoid performing distracting activities, such as listening to music or talking on your cell phone, while walking. A pizza delivery person was robbed of his personal valuables and his car. Both suspects were armed with semi-automatic handguns. Cedar Avenue in Towson. The victim was walking home from the Towson bars and was struck in the back of the head by an unknown subject. The victim advised he was knocked to the ground. When the victim woke up he returned to his apartment and noticed his wallet and keys were missing. 16 CRIME ALERT: Off Campus Attempted Robbery January 5, 2015 On January 5, 2015 the Towson University Police Department was notified by the Baltimore County Police of an Off- Campus Attempted Robbery that occurred on January 2, 2015 at about 9:30 PM at 1 East Joppa Road. The four juvenile victims were walking towards the bus stop when they were surrounded by unknown subjects. The subjects began reaching into the pockets of the victims. One suspect pulled a knife and attempted to stab one of the victims. Another suspect punched one of the victims in the face knocking his glasses off.
